BLACK RIVER GENEALOGISTS of Lorain (BRG)
When we were organized in January, 1979, we were first called the Lorain
Genealogical Workshop of the LCHS -- and we were co-sponsored by the Lorain
County Historical Society and Lorain Public Library. Within the first year,
though, we changed our name to the Black River Genealogists of Lorain (BRG).
We’ve always held regular monthly meetings at Lorain Public Library, or one
of its branches.
Currently, most of our approximately 30 members live in Lorain, Sheffield,
Sheffield Lake, Avon Lake, Amherst, or Vermilion -- the northern part of
Lorain County. The Black River Genealogists has been an affiliate group of
the Lorain County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS) for 25
years.
