Our Friend - Joan Warfield Joan Ikard Warfield of Jerusalem, Ohio died suddenly on Thursday May 16, 2002 in Barnesville. She was born January 16, 1934 in Cyril, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Don and Rilla Ikard. She was, also, proceeded in death by a daughter, Deborah Ann, and a brother Karl. She is survived by her husband, William R Warfield, son William and his wife Linda of Colorado, son Daniel and his wife Kathy of Jerusalem, daughter Celia Toohey and her husband Terry of Pennsylvania, sister Reba Weeden of Cyril, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was buried in Somerton Southern Cemetery. Joan was devoted mother and grandmother. She had been a librarian at Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library, and after her retirement, she became very active in the Belmont County Chapter of The Ohio Genealogical Society. She played the organ at Somerton United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies Golf League of Switzerland Golf Course. Joan had been currently serving as corresponding secretary for our chapter. She was an active researcher for many. She did much of the indexing of donated material and enthusiastically participated in our various projects. We, along with her former coworkers at the library, are devestated by her loss and extend our deepest sympathy to her dear family. She will be missed. The family will be sending her genealogical material to the chapter. We know that she was doing research for some of you. It would help if you would let us know. We can only ask for your patience while we sort through her files. At the request of the family, donations in her memory may be made to Somerton United Methodist Church or to Belmont County Chapter/OGS. |
