CALEB, DAWLSTON, GARDNER, GOW, RALSTON, RAWLSTON, SMITH posted by Kim Ralston Dresser on Thursday, August 22, 2002

looking for date of death on Barbara (Ralston)Gow Gardener. A cousin had an old copy of her newspaper obit from family records but it had no dates on it..it reads- Barbara Gow Gardner died at the home of C.C. Caleb in Bellair at 9 o'clock Sat evening in the 87th year of her age, death being due to the infirmities of old age. Mrs Gardner was born in Hancock co later removed to Steubenville she lived in this city about 6 years living in Patterson addition to Elm Grove and 3 months prior taken to home of relatives in Bellair. Mrs Gardner was the daughter of Mr & Mrs Samuel Dawlston of Harvest Cove (**should be Samuel RALSTON OF Holidays cove, Hancock co WV**) Her husband having proceded her death about 4 years ago. The following brothers & sisters survive, Mrs. Margaret Smith of Harvest Cove * Mr. Alexander Ralston of Kings Creek, Mr. George RAWLSTON of Toronto, Ohio & William & Francis Rawlston both of Harvest Cove**, one brother-in law James GOW is a resident of this city. No Arrangements have been made for the funeral but the remains will be laid at rest near the old homestead at Harvest Cove** *should be Hollidays cove WV ~probally buried at the Three Springs cemetery near Weirton, Hancock co WV- thats where her parents & family are buried but cemetery list does not show her name. from age in 1850 census- she may have been born abt 1817 if so & she was 87 when she died it would make it abt 1904 on her death? In her father Samuel Ralston's will in 1881 she was listed as the widow of William Gow so maybe married Mr. ? Gardner after 1881- I have found no marrigae records on her for either marriage in Brooke or Hancock co VA/WV records. I think C.C Caleb was a son in law maybe? but obit didn't list any children of hers? Ralston name was spelled wrong several times, Alexander Ralston of Kings creek was my GG grandfather, Barbara was his sister & I would like to get a copy of her death cert to see what is listed as her mothers maiden name- 1 of the boys death cert list their mothers name as Elizabeth McConnell & another listed her as Sarah McConnell, cem records & census list her as Elizabeth. I found a James Gardener in Pease twp page 130 D. in the 1880 census of Belmont co OH index. Thanks for any help on the date of her death. Happy trails on all your researching too. CAMPBELL, KERR posted by Susan Moseson on Friday, August 30, 2002

Seeking a link from my great-grandfather, Milton Kerr Campbell (b. 11/1/1837, Belmont Co., probably in St. Clairsville; d. 12/18/1928) and his parents, William Campbell & Mary Kerr, to earlier generations. His death certificate lists both parents' birthplaces as being PA, but in the 1920 Census, he reported both as having been born in OH. A search on Ancestry.com comes up with two listings for a William Campbell married to a Mary Kerr (same people in both listings), and that William was born in 1808 in Uniontown, Belmont Co. However, neither listing shows any children. Does anyone know if the William & Mary Campbell who lived in Belmont Co in the early 1800s were the parents of my great-grandfather, Milton Kerr Campbell? Many thanks in advance.
