Moses Milligan was in Belmont County by 1790 and paid taxes there as early as 1802 deeds recorded in his name at court house as early as 1804. He was born 12 March 1768 in Baltimore Maryland and was the son of John Milligan and his mothers last name was McMahon- which I am sure is some kin to the McMahon the creek in Belmont County was named for- I found a John McMahon in Belmont county early who was born in 1730 and died in Ross County Ohio- A family bible of Moses Milligans granddaughter details family information Moses Milligan married Mary Pourday also spelled Purdy in 1794 and she was the daughter of John Pourday (Purdy) who fought for the British in Rev. War so the story goes He was with the Irish Dragoons-in Ireland- his wife was a Hutchenson or Hutcherson or Hutchinson-- could be spelled all ways this John Pourday (Purdy) was in Belmont County as early as 1800 or sooner. but we think he left there and died someplace else. Moses Asbury Milligan son of Moses Milligan who was a Methodist minister moved over to Fairfield county around 1836 and was in 1850 Licking county and married to a Cynthia Ann Myers- of Reading township Perry County she was born and died there- this Moses Milligan went to Sacramento California in 1850 to the gold rush and died there by 1851 and his wife Cynthia Ann Myers married a Robert Paden of Perry county Ohio Feb 18 1852 this is recorded in family bible of one of his children who went to 'Shelbyille, Shelby County Illinois. Cynthia Ann Myers who married Robert Paden is buried in Reading twp Reading cemetary alongside Robert Paden they had a daughter Henrietta Stimmell of Reading twp would like to find information on the Stimmell connection if anyone out there has it. The 1st Moses Milligan born March 12 1768 in Maryland died Feb 12 1843 Belmont county. also am interested to find information on the father John Milligan who would have been born probably as early as 1720-1730 and McMahon family connection.

Mary Ann G. (RICHARDSON) HUNTER moved w/3 children to St. Clairesville, OH, probably in 1817. Purported to have lost one child there. Other children: William F., Louisa Ellen, Gipson Arrell. Husband, Richard HUNTER, was killed on east coast before he could join the family. The family then moved to Woodsfield, Monroe Co., where she married Joseph MILLER in 1819. They had 4 children: Timothy Brundage, Mary, Charlotte Crawford, John Quincy Adams. Charlotte then married a man, last name RODGERS, I believe in Woodsfield.
