EDDY - Hi, my name is Luk Baus from Belgium. One of my colleagues recently discoverd that an Americn soldier officially witnessed his birth in 1946. Unfortunately, my colleague isn't connected to the Internet, so he asked me to make this search on his behalf. The name of the witness is Clarence (first name) EDDY (surname). According to the birth certificate, he was 31 years old in 1946, and he lived in Balmont, Ohio. We discovered already that Balmont doesn't exist, so we think in might be Belmont. My colleague would like to meet with this witness, be it be inviting him over here in Belgium or by meeting him in the US. Could you please provide us with all details about this person (is he still alive, does he still live in Belmont, where did he move to and when ?, ...). Thank you very much for your cooperation. MORROW and HICKS - MORROW HICKS KILLE (?) PHILBRICK (?) Looking for information regarding descendents of Thomas Coleman MORROW, b Apr 6, 1850, Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio Family Bible records his death Jan 22, 1904 or 1907 (handwriting unclear), no place indicated. Bible records shows family line: "Daughter Ann married Alonzo HICKS" "Daughter Lillian Hicks KILLE (sp?)" then "Daughter (Barnesville, Ohio)" Also seeking record of descendents of John Cromwell MORROW, b Woodsfield, Oct 12, 1839, m. Louise PHILBRICK (sp?), Nov 1870, no place. His death shown as Feb 3, 1896; also no place. Parents, two brothers, and sister left Ohio for Wisconsin, about 1869. These brothers were believed to have stayed in Ohio, but they do not appear in Monroe County census records. Since Bible record suggests one had descendent who lived in Barnesville, it seems plausible that the brothers moved to/lived in Belmont County after their family left. I have been unable to view or get lookup asistance for Belmont County census records, 1870 and later. Thanks, Duncan Morrow

LETT - I am looking for the names of Meshack and Aquilla Lett who settled in Belmont county Ohio in 1825. Legend has it that Meshack Lett went into Meigs township and located. Supposedly they took up land. The first black settler in Meigs township was Benjamin Caliman. However a settlement was developed in this area and at the time was called the LETT settlement. History has it that the Brown's and the Caliman's were the first black settlers of this area. I have documentation that says otherwise. According to my documentation, Meshack Lett, one of my ancestors, was the first black settler in that area. I would like any information you could send me on that time period that pertains to the black population, any history pertaining to Meshack Lett, Aquilla Lett, Elgin, Benjamin, Samuel, Mollie, Kissiah, Turner Simpson, Benjamin Caliman. I am not for sure of the last names of the people I didn't add a last name to. Any history that you may have of their death and/or final resting place, any history of any children that may have been spawned from these people, and any living relatives that may still reside in Belmont County.
