The following is from the Wilson Scrapbook; 13 Feb 1896:
........"Mr. Charles S. Gilham and Miss Bertie Talbott, young people of this vicinity, were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Talbott, of near Pugh, Ohio, at six o'clock Wednesday evening, Feb. 5. The impressive ceremony was performed by Rev. W.C. Meek and was witnessed only by the immediate friends of the contracting parties. A wedding supper was served after which the evening was enjoyed with elegant music, the vocal being led by Prof. G.W. Davis, of Olivet. A pleasant serenade was tendered them by quite a large number of friends and well behaved boys of this neighborhood. The bride is one of the most highly esteemed young ladies of this vicinity, and is loved by all who know her. She possesses a friendly, pleasant disposition and a thorough knowledge of the arts which qualify one to preside over a happy home. Mr. Gilham is the only son of Mr. C.T. Gilham, a wealthy farmer, of Union township. He is a moral, upright young man of fine business qualifications and has the confidence of all who know him. ........"The marriage of Miss Pearl Mumma and Mr. Roy Barlow has been announced, having taken place at St. Clairsville, Saturday, July 14. The young people are both employes[sic] of The Hanlon Paper Co., where they are popular with their co-workers. "Mrs. Barlow is the daughter of Mrs. Mumma on South Broadway, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Anna Barlow on East Main street, and is an industrious and dependable young man. ........"Miss Bernice Talbert of Bethesda and Mr. Harold Zellars of this place were united in marriage Saturday, September 7 at Wellsburg, W. Va. "Mrs. Zellars is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Talbert and is a graduate of Bethesda schools, attended Muskingum College and has been employed in the M-K Store at Bethesda. ........"Mr. Charles L. Hagedorn, the well known proprietor of the New York Racket Store on West Main street, and Nora D. Talbott, of Barnesville, surprised their many friends here Thursday evening, July 24, 1913, be being united in marriage by Rev. R.S. Strahl.
........"Mr. Hagedorn has been a successful merchant of Barnesville for many years, and enjoys the confidence, not only of the people of Barnesville but of patrons of his for many miles throughout this region. His wife is recognized as an expert professional nurse, a lady of culture and attainments, and one who in every particular, is sagacious enough to preside over a home with wisdom and refinement. The following is from the, Barnesville Enterprise; 9 Jun 1898:
........"The Enterprise takes pleasure in announcing the marriage of Mr. James Malone, of Braddock, Pa., and Miss Blanche Heed, of this place, which occurred at Steubenville, Thursday evening, June 2, Rev. Mr. Jackson, of that city, performing the impressive ceremony. The bride was accompanied to Steubenville by her cousin, Miss Clara Bugler, of St. Clairsville, with whom she was visiting. The affair was somewhat a surprise, the young people suddenly making up their minds it would be a romantic way to get married instead of waiting longer for the happy day which had been arranged for June 22. Mr. Malone is a prominent and prosperous business man of Braddock, owning a large furniture store at that place. He is a young man of pleasing address and exemplary habits, and during his visits here has conducted himself in a way to win the respect and friendship of those with thom he was associated.
........"Miss Heed is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al Heed, of this place. She is a bright, pleasant young lady, of modest demeanor, and a favorite with all who know her. In her home she has been a loyal, helpful daughter, and is skilled in those arts which will enable her to preside over her own household in a way to make her husband supremely happy. The union is in all respects a suitable one, meets with the approbation of all concerned in the happiness of the young people. The Enterprise extends hearty congratulations and wishes them a married life of unalloyed happiness. The following is from, the Wilson Scrapbook; dated 18 Jun 1914:
........"A very pretty little June wedding was witnessed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Gilham on Wednesday June 3rd., when their daughter, Gladys became the bride of Fred C. Murphy. About nine o'clock Wednesday morning, Walter Murphy, and wife, brother of the groom drove in their car to the bride's home, where the to-be-bride and groom were awaiting, when they stepped in the car and took a tour to St. Clairsville, where they secured the license returning about twelve thirty, where a number of relatives and friends were assembled. "After a few minutes of preparation the door was opened to the soft sweet strains of the wedding march was played by Clarence Wells, of Spiedel, the bride and groom entered with Miss Enid Shepherd of Holloway and Bainard[sic] Gilham brother, of bride, as attendants.
........"They paused under an arch of beautiful ferns and roses where the wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Plummer, Presbyterian minister of Flushing. The bride was attired in white satin messaline draped in silk embroderied net lace. The maid of honor was dressed in a gown of yellow silk voile draped in shadow lace. "After the greetings were exchanged the bridal company moved into the dining room, where the wedding collation was spread. "The bride was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Gilham, while the groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Murphy, progressive farmers of Murphy's Ridge. "Those who were present were Mrs. F.M. Talbott, grandmother of bride, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wells, of Spiedel, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Shephard, of Holloway, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Murphy, Mrs. C.E. Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer White, Mr. Emmett Lynn, of Flushing. The following is from the Wilson Scrapbook; dated 9 Jun 1927:
........"Miss Frances Talbott and Mr. Charles Slocum were issued license to wed on Tuesday and the bride's mother reports them married Tuesday evening. We have not been able to find out from the contracting parties where or by whom they were married but the license published gives us the authority to announce the marriage with the supposition that they had the knot tied somewhere. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Alice Talbott and is employed at the Lotus Glass Company, where she will retain her position for the present. Mr. Slocum is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Slocum of South Gardiner street and is a tool dresser for the Ohio Fuel Supply Company. The young people will reside with Mrs. Talbott at Speidel as long as Mr. Slocum is stationed here."TALBOTT, Carl and MAJOR, Hazel

........"Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the parsonage on West Main street, Miss Hazel Major of St. Clairsville and Carl Talbott were united in marriage. Rev. A.M. Flax performed the ceremony. Mrs. Talbott is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Major of St. Clairsville and is a graduate of the Barnesville High School. For her marriage Mrs. Talbott wore a dress of blue flat crepe and a white hat and carried a bouquet of brides roses. Mr. Talbott is the son of Mrs. Alice Talbott and is now employed with the T. & A. ........"The marriage of Miss Mildred Jones of this place and Mr. Rolland[sic] Tolbert of Bethesda took place at Wellsburg, W. Va., Wednesday afternoon of last week. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jones of West Main street and has been employed in the Murphy store.
