Hello, my name is Pauli Driver Smith. I am the county coordinator for the Adams County, Ohio GenWeb Project pages. I'm really excited to be to be a part of the Ohio GenWeb Project, and am working hard to developing my site into a comprehensive place where we can all share our Adams County, Ohio genealogy, history, and personal histories. On July 10, 1797, Adams County, named in honor of the incumbent President, John Adams, became the seventh county of the Northwest Territory and the third in what was to become the State of Ohio. As of 2010, the population was 28,550. Originally the county included what is now, Pike, Ross, Fayette, Pickaway, Madison, Franklin, Union, and Delaware counties, as well as parts of Scioto, Highland, Brown, Clinton, Fairfield, Clark, Champaigne, Hardin, Marion, Morrow, Knox, and Licking Counties. As these new counties were created, Adams County was eventually reduced to its present size.

Adams County is bordered on its sides by, Brown, Highland, Pike, and Scioto Counties. To the south (across the Ohio River) the county is bordered by Lewis and Mason Counties in Kentucky.

What's New: I will try to keep this page up to let you know what new goodies I've added since my last update. No promises, Sometimes I just get into the "zone" and just start adding stuff. By the time I'm finished, I have no idea where all of it is. :-)
