In 1997, Katonah (a village in the town of Bedford) celebrated its Centennial birthday.
"The place where Katonah now is was open farmland when the railroad reached this point, in 1848. Whitlockville was half a mile to the west, and that was for the first few years the name of the station and the post-office. The present name was chosen in honor of the old chief whose home is supposed to have been in the northern part of the town. ..." The Westchester County Historical Society also has extensive manuscripts giving inventories of many old cemeteries located throughout the County. Also check with the local historical society for information about the above cemeteries.

Many town historical societies hold maps of their vicinities, including copies of the Sanborn insurance maps. Insurance maps were detailed to the point of showing each building on each street so that insurance companies knew what to pay the insurer in the event of fire or destruction. Be sure to inquire at such institutions as well as at local libraries.

In honor of Katonah's Centennial, the library re-published two books: Katonah, a History of a New York Village and its People by Frances R. Duncombe and Cassie's Village, also by Ms. Duncombe. Cassie's Village details life in early Katonah from a child's perspective.
The only NY State censuses which survived are for the years 1905, 1915, and 1925. Check at your local LDS Family History Center for these films.
