Holdings include: Mortgages, deeds, and miscellaneous papers relating to the Ebeneezer PURDY family. Estate papers relating to the KINKEL family and their quarry business. Clippings file of obits and weddings covering 1878-1894. Many account records of local business people from the 1800s. Tombstone inscriptions from the old burying ground. Photographs of many of the places and people of Bedford and neighboring villages. Account books from various businesses, some dating to the 1700s.

Many town historical societies hold maps of their vicinities, including copies of the Sanborn insurance maps. Insurance maps were detailed to the point of showing each building on each street so that insurance companies knew what to pay the insurer in the event of fire or destruction. Be sure to inquire at such institutions as well as at local libraries.
