In Quinlan's History of Sullivan Co., JACOB and CORNELIUS SARR are noted around the events of the Hardenburgh murder in November 1808. DANIEL SARR (1822 -1878) who m. Delilah Porter Sarr, and his brother William or Tillison Sarr (18-- 1902)is the last link of the Sarr heritage we can find. Any links to Jacob or Cornelius, and other Sarr(s) would be appreciated. Other names of descendents include: Vancuren, McCade, Martin, Rutan

I am trying to connect a Charles Saylor, born Dec 24, 1786, Sprinfield, Burlington Co. NJ. He moved to Canada around 1810 from Dutchess County. A fairly reliable source states that he came from "Dutchess County." He was a Quaker. A number of Quakers came to prince Edward County, Ontario. Charles either came with them or married into them in Canada in 1812. I have a fairly complete geneaology of Saylor's in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. There are 3 Saylors mentioned in the 1790 Census for Ulster Co. They are: Zachariah Saylor, Mamakating Town. Abraham saylor, Marbletown. Daniel Saylor, Rochester Town. I know nothing more of these families. I'd welcome any advice. Thank you. Randy Saylor
Researching Scheidel in Jeffersonville. My gggrandfather was Frank Theodore Scheidel (born c.1847 in NYC). Father's name John Scheidel, mother's name Anne Zeiger or Geiger. Frank married Magdalena Koenig, 1870 in NYC. He had a relative Valentine Scheidel (possibly a brother or cousin, and possibly born in 1840's also.) They were in business together in NYC. Believe Valentine retired and moved to Jeffersonville early 1900's. This is not the same Valentine Scheidell, founder of FNBJ and Chairman of Sullivan County Board of Supervisors, but are they related? Any information on Scheidel's in Jeffersonville would be appreciated. Thanks.

Valencourt SEELY married Rachel Saxton GOLDIN 24 Dec. 1864 according to family records. Rachel grew up in Watkins Glen, NY and Valencourt and Rachel had 4 children (Fred MacDonald SEELY m. Carrie Wagner, Mary SEELY who lived in CA, Jane M. SEELY who m. William J. YOUNG 17 April 1888 in Corning - my maternal g-gprnts, and Nellie SEELY m. Charles Thomas) born in either Watkins Glen or Corning. Rachel SEELY was born 15 Oct 1845, died 2 Nov. 1882 and is buried in Erwin, Steuben Co. NY. Meanwhile, the 1850 census lists a Volencourt SEELY in Lumberland, Sullivan Co., age 44, born PA, with a wife Abigail, age 37, also born PA and 7 children (Hamilton, 18; Mary, 17; James, 14; Emily, 12; Landford, 10; and Henry, 8; all born PA) and the youngest, Calvin, 8 mos. born NY. Valencourt SEELY is in the 1860 census index in Tusten, Sullivan Co. but I haven't had access to these records. I also found Valencourt SEELY in the Sullivan Co. Business Directory, 1872-3, as postmaster and justice of the peace in Tusten (Narrowsburgh). I can't find Valencourt in any earlier census and don't know if the Valencourt who married Rachel GOLDIN is the same as the census person or perhaps his son??? Since I am currently living in England, I don't have the chance to do much research in the US so I would be especially appreciative of any help or suggestions.
