Emma Catherine Lorch (1860-1930) was my great grandmother. I would like to find Emma's death information. She is buried at Bethel, NY. Just before her death she was living with her son, Eugene Kenny, in Narrowburg, NY. (Eugene worked for Narrowsburg Lumber Co.) Emma had a gangrenous leg which she refused to have amputated. I have written or called town clerks all over the area and have not been able to locate a death record. Any suggestions? Does anyone have obituaries from Sullivan County in 1930? Emma was the daughter of Adam Lorch and Catherina, emigrants from Germany who lived in New York City and later Youngsville, Sullivan County. Adam and Catherine are buried in the Youngsville Cemetery. Emma married Charles A. Kenny before 1896. If anyone else is researching this family, I have descendant information to share.

I recently acquired an old ledger, 1905-1911, presumably kept by Carrie LYNCH and detailing her daily expenditures. The ledger doesn't reveal where she lived, but she often went to Ellenville (in Ulster Co.) on the train. She also went to Liberty (in Sullivan Co.), to Middletown (in Orange Co.), and to New York City. Fallsburg (in Sullivan Co.) is also mentioned. People's names in the ledger, all with NYC addresses, are: James B. ARMSTRONG, Peter DOUGAN, John J. FARLEY, Wm. R. HERSCHEL, George LIEFIELD, James V. LYNCH, Edward McCULLOGH, Charles TOOHEY, W. C. TURNER, E. WALSH, Raymond WALSH, and Frank B. WHITNEY. I research quilt history and I would very much appreciate any help in identifying Carrie LYNCH and learning more about her and why she listed and described 19 "Quilts left at House" within the pages of this ledger. Several of the ledger's pages suggest that her family might have had a boarding house or rooming house or small hotel. Please contact (and Thank You in advance): Wilene Smith (Wichita, KS) at
