LOOMIS SANITARIUM 1929-1931
Kerri Habben
I have a very small family, and some years ago found a photograph album among my Great-Uncle's things. It depicts a time spent at Loomis Sanitarium in the late 1920's when he contracted TB working in New York City. It is a compelling album, done with such care that it is obvious the friendships and time there were important to him. My parents and I passed through the area and went to the old Sanitarium Grounds in 1997, meeting the people at the Holy Rood Seminary, (formerly the Mary E. Lewis Hospital. My Uncle died in 1992, and his name was Henry Weisgerber. From the album, he appears to have been at Loomis or in Liberty from January of 1929 to August of 1931. I would welcome any informaiton you may have about the area during that time. In the album, there are some names mentioned, people who may have been from the area or just working at the Sanitarium.
