I am seeking infomation about the Cochrans that at one time lived in Sullivan County, New York. 1 Elick COCHRAN, born abt 1830, born or just lived in Rockland, Sullivan County, New York in the 1860 census. Married Rachel, born New York 2 Homer COCHRAN, born 1859, Rockland, New York. 2 George M. COCHRAN, born 18 June 1863 (death certificate says Fosterdale, New York, but he is on the same census as (1). He Married Lydia Rose Tyler of Genoa Nebraska. He died there 26 April, 1933. 3 Ross COCHRAN born Genoa 1909, married Dorothy, died Kentucky 3 Dale Eugene COCHRAN born Genoa 1911, married Alice Louis Burke of Vallejo, California, died in San Francisco, California 1982. This is my father. There were many COCHRANS in the Sullivan County, New York neck of the woods. I found Elick in 1880/1870/1860 census with his family. It could be him Elisha Q, son of Robert and Sobrina. Of course, his parents would have been 49 and 45 respectively when he was born. It could be that his name is Elisha Q. and he called himself Elick when he had his own family.

CONKLIN
Nancy Pascal
Looking for any information on William CONKLIN and Elizabeth BRINK. William 'of Cochection' in 1774 married Elizabeth BRINK of 'Minisink'. They lived near 'Big Island' which I believe to be near Minisink. I am trying to find out if they are the parents of my Mary Conklin who married John BUTLER. In the 1850 Census for Sussex Co., NJ, Mary indicates she was born in Orange Co., NY. Cochecton (now in Sullivan) and Minisink were both in Orange Co. at that time. I am fairly certain that John BUTLER and Mary CONKLIN named there first Asa after John's father. Their second son was named William C., the C. most likely standing for CONKLIN. I know that William and Elizabeth went on to have eleven children. Does anyone know the names of those children? Have some Conklin information I would be willing to exchange. One of their daughters married Jesse Tyler. Elizabeth died in 1842.
