I remember seeing the tombstone for Josiah in the Sagg Cemetery in Sagaponack when I visited there in 1995. It was the oldest tombstone that I saw on that trip. But since then, I realize that it must be a newer stone than his death. From what I have heard, before 1700 instead of tombstones they would drive two posts in the ground and put a board with the name across the posts. That is why there are so few tombstones from the 1600s; they would all placed in the 1700s or later.
