Rev. John Davenport
John Davenport was a son of the Rev. James Davenport, of
Southold, Long Island. He was graduated from Princeton College in
the class of 1769. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Suffolk,
June 4, 1775, and served the Congregation in Southold, Long
Island, for two years. On the 12th of August, 1795, he was
settled at Deerfield, New Jersey, but resigned in 1805, on
account of failing health. He died July 13, 1821.
