Who we are: The SLVGS answers the needs of family history researchers in the St. Lawrence Valley area, whether residents of the area or people whose ancestors once resided here. It serves the needs of genealogists who wish to research local area lines as well as those interested in other areas. Members frequently associate with each other at social events.

 

Newsletter: The SLVGS News is published four times a year. Those who join after April will be credited to the first of the year and will receive all four issues [unless specifying that they are joining for the coming year.. The newsletters include FREE queries to help in research. Remember – not everyone is on the internet yet. Library: The society also maintains a research library in the Potsdam Public Museum to help members in their work. This library is available during regular museum hours. The museum is open from 2 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday [closed Saturdays in July and August]. Contact the museum at 315/265-6910 for more information.

 

Meetings: Meetings are held in most months of the year. Meetings are normally held at various locations around the St. Lawrence County area – check local media for specific dates and times. We do send e-mail notice of meetings to local people with e-mail addresses., The annual meeting and electionof officers is held the 4th Thursday of April each year.

 

Low Cost. Membership is just $12 per year for U.S. addresses, $15 (U.S.) per year for Canadian addresses.
