1 St. Lawrence Free Press and Maine Law Advocate a Gouverneur paper from single copy of Oct. 27, 1853 at SLCHA. Single issue of June 9, 1853 found at the offices of the Gouverneur newspaper. The issue of Apr. 13, 1854 was found in the archives of the Watertown Daily Times
2 Boys' Daily Journal an Ogdensburg daily, found on microfilm at the Ogdensburg Public library 1855-1856, plus a few issues from 1854 which were not filmed
3 St. Lawrence Free Press an Ogdensburg paper, the issue of Feb. 1, 1855 at SLCHA.  The issue of Mar. 15, 1855 is at the NYS Library in Albany and the issue of Jan. 24, 1856 was found in the archives of the Watertown Daily Times.
4 Malone Frontier Palladium (and later just "Malone Palladium") from microfilm at SLU Library and several other libraries.
5 St. Lawrence American an Ogdensburg paper which came out on Thursdays.  Issues from Feb. 1856 to Feb. 1857 are on microfilm at the Ogdensburg Public Library
6 St. Lawrence Journal a Potsdam paper which came out on Wednesdays.  From a single copy held by the Potsdam Museum dated Oct. 22, 1851
7 The Daily Journal an Ogdensburg paper, single issue of Aug. 19, 1859 found in the Special Collections department of the Owen D. Young Library at SLU, and on microfilm at the Ogdensburg library from June 1857 until Aug. 13,1859
8 Ogdensburg Sentinel a Tuesday paper on microfilm (beginning with Dec. 10, 1850 issue) at the Ogdensburg Library.  There are several one-year gaps in the 1850's amounting to five full years missing (the first eleven months of 1852, 1853, 1855 and 1857, plus all of 1859)
9 The Progressive Age a Gouverneur paper issued on Thursdays, from a single copy of Dec. 27, 1855 held at the SLCHA
10 New York Reformer Watertown NY Thursday weekly paper which became the Watertown Times in 1870.  From microfilm at SLU. There are no issues between August 1852 and August 1854
11 St. Lawrence Republican  A Tuesday paper from Ogdensburg, on microfilm at the Ogdensburg Public Library. There are only two or three missing issues for the entire decade.
12 St. Lawrence Mercury a Potsdam paper 1847-1851 which came from the Northern Cabinet and Literary Repository.  Issued on Wednesdays, and is on microfilm at SLU and several other libraries.  
13 Canton Republican and Advertiser from microfilm at SLU Library and from paper copies at the Canton Historian's office.
14 Columbian (ie Madrid) Independent issue of Jul. 2, 1851 is the only one extant and is found on microfilm at the SLU Library.  It had previously been known as the Columbian Democrat
16 Young America from 7 unbound and unmicrofilmed issues at the Ogdensburg Public Library
