- ABSTRACT: Diary for 1850-51 describing agricultural improvement, construction of a plank road and the Corning & Canandaigua Railroad, conservative Democratic politics and the discovery of gold in California. In the same volume are notes on later personal events; an autobiographical account; genealogical data on the Lee family; farm maps, 1837 and 1845, with statistics on wheat production, 1839-45 and detailed summary of farm accounts and work, 1850. Also a few theater programs; letters to his children from Austin, Nevada, 1862; a long description of the people and stores there in 1866; a report of his mining profits, 1865-66; and a brief vocabulary in Shoshone. Other items include an engraved portrait of his father Joshua; a license to practice medicine, 1804; and a militia commission from 1911. The entire collection has been photocopied.
