Original query:
I am looking for information on a family in Ovid,New York during the 1900. A boy James Veale,Veley,Velie,Viele was born January 13, 1928 at 9:30PM in Ovid, New York according to his birth certificate. He was given to Richard Ginther and his wife Marian Chilton Hill Ginther in the same year. They lived in New Haven, Connecticut. Marian was schooled in a Catholic School in San Antonio. She had articles written of her in the Newspapers in Connecticut for fund raising (Sweetbriar Alumni) during 1929. I am not sure when but the Ginthers took James and moved to Texas and lived in Harlingen, and San Antonio. She was a member of the family of Hills in the Texas area and the Chiltons and her brother married Emma Giesecke. These ladies were members of DAR. I have their recipe book that was put out several years ago. I was told the nearest family they have to the Viele's is in Lodi. I am not sure how the last name was spelled or the father or mother's name. Marian told James he had three brothers. The name is not that usual for that area. The adoption proceedings began in New Haven. The adoption was finalized in Texas and New York submitted a new Birth certificate Recorded District 4910 (Do you know where this district is or how to locate it? I was hoping someone had a census for 1920 and could see if there was a family listed there on the census. Thank you

WHEELER/WALWORTH/WHITNEY Joyce Rahn, [email protected] October 12, 2000
I am looking for more information on Magdalene Wheeler who was born abt 1778. She MAY have been born in New Brunswick NJ, but I do know she married a William Walworth Jr who was born in CT and died in Saline, Washtenaw, MI. William was the son of William Walworth Sr & Sarah Grant.
They had nine children all of whom were supposed to have been born in Ovid, Seneca, New York:
James Walworth abt 1800
Ann Walworth 22 Feb 1803 Ovid, Seneca, NY died 07 Oct 1875 in Kalamo, Eaton, MI md Oscar F. Sprague (Methodist)
Cornelius Walworth b 25 Jul 1808
William Walworth 1813
Gilbert Walworth abt 1815
Polly Walworth abt 1817
John Walworth abt 1819
Sally Walworth abt 1821
Louisa Walworth abt 1825
It is possible that William Walworth died about that time, and that Magdalene then married John Whitney on Nov 1825 in Ovid, Seneca, NY. He was a widower with several children. If this is the same Magdalene then she would have been born 1778 in New Bruswick, NJ and died 14 Mar 1857 in Adrian, Lenawee, MI. John would have been the son of Benjamin Whitney & Sarah Ketcham and he would have been born abt 1777 in Warwick, Tioga, NY and died 09 Jun 1849 or 1850 in Adrian, Warwick, NY.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of finding birth and marriage records for this time frame in Ovid, Seneca, NY?
Do any of these names ring a bell?
Thank you for your help.

Amos left Washington Co. and went to Galen NY to enter the Civil War at 16. We assume he went there because of relatives in the area. Is there any way to check for Peter WHeeler in Tyre and see if there is a death certificate. Amos' parents were Peter Wheeler and ELizabeth Pettys.
