DETAILED DIRECTIONS for finding these cemeteries.

   NOTE:
The "Sgrecci-Howard lists" were compiled by JoAnn Sgrecci  (1930-1988),
Helena Howard & others in the 1980s.  They visited cemeteries & added
to the older lists made in the 1920s & 1930s by local D.A.R. volunteers.
Their lists were generously provided by Helena Howard from her collection.
These lists often contain data from stones that are no longer visible today.

"Fenton Lists" - From the mid-1990s until the present, Bill Fenton has been
engaged in the huge project of rechecking all the cemeteries & creating
updated lists. These are considered the most up-to-date lists which are kept
on file in the local historical society.  Many thanks to Bill for making some
of his lists available to this website.  You can write to the local Historical
Society to check Bill's remaining lists.  (See "Where to Write")
Bill also provided directions to the cemeteries.

Several other people have provided detailed readings of specific
cemeteries as noted in the index below.  Many thanks for all their help!

SCHUYLER CO., NY   CENSUS & DIRECTORY LISTS:
(try the site search engine to find a name quickly.)
*
A few things to keep in mind as you look at the census.....
         1.  Occupations, years of residence and some other info was omitted from these lists in some cases.  Complete
census info is generally available from a local library or the Schuyler Co., NY Historical Society.
         2.  People sometimes labeled "servants" or "boarders" may have been foster children or apprentices.
         3.  Birthplaces may differ within the family, though the family may not have moved at all....the county boundaries
may have moved. Go here for county boundary changes & dates.
         4.  It is surprisingly common for people to appear on two different censuses for a given year.   It happens in cases
where the person was staying with relatives, or counted both at work and home, for example. (Since different
locations may have been done on different days.)

Lists arranged by date, going from 1810 forward to WWII:

The 1855 & 1875 Census are from the collection of  Helena Howard who spent
many hours hand-copying the lists from the originals at the Schuyler co., NY
courthouse.  Her dedication, her local knowledge and her generosity have been
             vital to this website.
