Know all men by these presents that I Lebeus Hammond of the of the
County of Tioga, State of New York in consideration of the sum of one thousand
dollars lawful money by Gershom Bennet of the County of Steuben and State
aforesaid, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, do hereby give,
grant, bargain, sell, and convey unto the said Gershom his heirs and assigns
forever, All that certain piece or parcel of land laying and being as follows
beginning at the north west corner of said lot, thence along the Town line
south to Justus Bennets north west corner of said lot thence East to Justus
Bennets north east corner to land belonging to Josiah Bennet, Thence north
to lands owned by Watson and Low, thence west to the place of beginning
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in township no. five in the first range of Towns in
the Massachusetts pre-emption lands. To have and to hold the said
granted and bargained premises with the privledges and appurtenances thereof
to him the said Gershom his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their
use and behoof forever, And I the said Lebeus, for myself, my heirs, executors
and administrators, do covenant with the said Gershom his heirs and assigns
that I am lawfully seized in fee of the premises that they are free of
all incumbrances, that I have good right to sell and convey the same to
the said Gershom to hold as aforesaid, and that I will Warrant and Defend
the same to the said Gershom, his heirs and assigns forever, against the
lawful claims and demands of all persons, In Witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

Be it remembered that on the twenty eighth day of February
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine, before me
the subscriber one of the Judges of the Court of Common Please of the said
County of Tioga, personally came James Mathews Junior one of the subscribing
witnesses to the within indenture to one well known and made oath that
he is personally acquainted with Lebeus Hammond the within warrantor, who
in his presence and in the presence of Robert Tubbs the other subscribing
witness, also to him well known signed, sealed, and delivered the same.
Having examined the same and finding no material erasures or interlineations
I do allow the same to be Recorded.
