John Bostrom, retired seaman and the last surviving member of the Robert G. Shaw Post, Grand Army of the Republic, died
today [I think this is the 3rd] at his home, 91 Cliff Street, Rosebank, S.I. He was born in Sweden and went to sea when he
was 15 years of age. During the Civil War he served under Admiral Farragut. At the close of the war Mr. Bostrom entered the
employ of the Van Hoesen Steamship Company. He was retired ten years ago.
Additional notes: He was born in Umea, Sweden in 1841 and came to the U.S in 1859.
