WARD/LITTLE FAMILIES

Thu, 16 Jan 1997 10:09:15 My husband and I am researching the WARD/LITTLE families. My problem is the following: We made a definite connection to Onondaga. We came across The Winchell Genealogy by chance and found some of the people we had been looking for...over 20 years. The book states some of the following...Orpha Winchell LITTLE died Feb. 1822...Alfred LITTLE, her husband, remarried a Mary PERKINS , after the death of his wife Orpha (No date given). The children of Alfred and Orpha: Elizabeth LITTLE married Morris R. JONES, 6 Aug.1837, Salina, and daughter, Amelia LITTLE, married Abijah WARD (no date given). 1820 census 3 males 10-16 1 male 26-45 4 female 0-10 1 female 10-16 1 female 26-45 1830 census 1 male 0-5 1 male 5-10 1 male 15-20 2 males 20-30 1 male 40-50 2 female 0-5 1 female 5-10 1 female 10-15 3 female 15-20 1 male 20-30 1 male 40-50 The name of this family head is Arthur Washburn and he'd have been born ca 1780-1790, possibly his wifes name would have been Olive. It also states that her brother died in the Civil War. She had brothers named James Henry WELLS and Lewis Kassuth WELLS. Which brother died in the Civil War? Is his name on the memorial? RILEY WILSON

Sat, 30 Nov 1996 20:22:19 Riley WILSON accompanied his parents to Schenectady, NY before 1814 and his widowed mother to Onondaga Co., NY before 1819. Before 1830 he settled in Elbridge, NY. On 26 Jan 1830 he bought a farm in Elbridge and for some reason sold the farm in 1830 to his mother. In 1835 he was a defendant in a law suit for trespass. In 1840 Riley and his son George were undoubtedly living with his sister and brother-in-law, David J. and Sarah (WILSON) TAYLOR, in the town of Elbridge, NY. In 1847 Riley was living in the town of Mentz, Cayuga Co., NY., but is not found there in the 1850 U.S. Census. He died about 1852 or 1853, prior to 15 June 1853, but the place is unknown. Died of typhoid fever at the age of about 48. Belinda, his first wife, died at about the age of 30 of pneumonia. His second wife was Ann MOSMAN . They had two daughters, Sarah Belinda & Ann Eliza.
