Sun Oct 20 05:17:37 1996 I am seeking information regarding Peter Sanderson, born in 1830 in Susquehanna County, Penn. I am particularly interested in the date and place of his death. It is believed he died in Syracuse or Buffalo, N.Y. The family has several obituaries but unfortunately they contain niether date, name of paper or publication. They indicate he died in an accident, he was buried in Mount Hope and that the "Scottish Society" took carte of the arrangemts. Further that he died at "City Hospital". "Rev. Peter Lindsay, chaplain of the Scottish Society" conducted the services. The president of the Society at the time was Mr. McNaughton. Other names mentioned are "Mrs. Whitehead, Mrs. Van Ingen, Harry Congdon and Ed Walker" who sang at the service. The grave was owned by the Society. The obits indicate Peter Sanderson was between 60 and 70 when he died, if this is correct the death occurred between 1890 and 1900. Bearers at the service were "D.W.Forsyth, James Niven, John Stewart, Hugh Hamilton, James Robertson, Hugh McKenzie". This query amends an earlier one not containg as much information.Thank you. He remarried BERTHA ECKBRETT (b. 20 May 1837/ d. 2 April 1915 in Utica). Bertha remarried a man with the surname of SIEG. Micheal and Johanna had: ALBERTINE, JOHANNA, CHARLES, AUGUST (or 'Gus'), and ANNIE. Albertine and Johanna married STEINHORST brothers. Would like to contact anyone with more info on this family. NY. Clarissa & Abbey are buried in the Chase Cem. 5 miles N. of Baldwinsville in Lysander Twp.(similar stones, I saw them in 1993). Joseph SOWLE listed as "laborer" in 1850. Elkanah Sprague was born in Winham Ct., married Mehitable Moulton in Windham Conn. in 1754 and died in Gloversville, N.Y. His son, Vine Sprague, was married to Mary Sherwin about 1793. They died within two weeks of each other in Mayfield in 1813 in an epidemic. They left children: Irene, Vine, Jr., Harriet, John, Lyman, and Mary. I would like to trace John Sprague who married Matilda Coe in approx. 1820 possibly in the Skaneateles area of Onondaga County. TIMOTHY SULLIVAN who was married to Hannah Ridley came to the US from England in 1861 and lived in Pompey in Onondaga County. His older brother JOHN SULLIVAN also lived in Pompey. I have no marriage information about John. Both were in the tobacco business and were active in the Civil War selling cigars to Union officers fighting in the South.
