PHILIP HENRY HALES & SARAH LEWIS

Tue, 24 Dec 96 17:29:14 My grandfather Philip Henry Hales and my grandmother Sarah Lewis Hales who became Sarah Griesbach when she became widowed and married George Griesbach. Philip & Sarah both came from England around the turn of the century and settled in Syracuse. I don't know if they married before they left England or not. Sarah was born March 9, 1886 and died in 1972. I don't know when Philip was born but he died when my father, Henry Leonard Hales, was in the eighth grade which had to be around 1923. I have checked the Federal census records available to me and found only one JOHN HASKIN in Onondaga Co. in 1800 - 1840. Their son, Wm. H. Haskins, was born in 1817 in Onondaga Co. and moved to PA by 1840. I have just started my research on JOHN and SALLY. Their names were: William Lewis Holley and Emily Calistia Pette(i)ngi(e)ll. I have just written the Office of Vital Statistics in Syracuse and they can find no record of their marriage. I am seeking confirmation and more information on Octavus HOOKER. Family information says he was the father of Lieut. James Jefferson HOOKER, but I have not found confirmation of that.
