COHOON/CAHOON

Sat Sep 28 18:38:37 1996
Joseph Cohoon lived in Haverstraw, Orange Co, where he registered for Rev. War service. He served with Cooper's Regulars. He is listed on the 1790 and 1800 census there, and then disappears. In 1820, he reappears in Onondaga Co, along with members of his family, including son James (b. 1795) and his wife Lavina Perrin, dau of Samuel Perrin (b. 1800 in Eng. Canada) 1820 is also the year James's dau, Selina, my ancestor was born. Since I can't place Joseph in the 1810 census, I don't know when the family arrived in the area, so I can't place the location of Lavina's family. Anybody out there working on Cohoons (also spelled Cahoon). EMail: Vicki Titus

THEADORE COTTON

Wed Jan 22 06:05:04 1997 I am seeking information about Theadore Cotton in Fayetteville / Manlius NY from 1830 - 1845. His wife Polly died there and I am interested in her burial place Thanks in advance for any help with this family. He is with his sister Dolly Elesworth in the 1850 Census. His son Zara Luzern Cotton is my ggf.

Updated: My Cotton line was in Truxton by 1818 and left Truxton around 1836. Theodore or Theadore Cotton apparently moved to the Fayetteville or Manlius area before 1840 as he is shown there in the 1840 US Census. My ggf was born either in Truxton, no record, or Fayetteville Manlius area. To date I have not been able to find Theadore's marriage or the birth of Zara Luzerne Cotton. The 1835 and 1845 census may fill in the gap as to where Theadore was when Zara was born. I used a researcher last year in courtland caounty and she could find no records of any births, deaths or marriages for the Cottons. Thanks.

Updated Again: I am seeking information about Theadore / Theodore Cotton of Manlius / Fayetteville, Onondaga Co. between 1835 and 1848. He was in Cortland Co. NY for the 1835 State Census and in Manlius in the 1840 census. I need a reasonable, qualified researcher familiar with the information available in the Manlius and Fayetteville areas to do some research for me. I believe his wife died in the area around 1846-48. I am trying to positively identify him as my ggggf. Theodore was a cabinet maker or a ships carpenter by trade. Gilbert and Zara Cotton are believed to be his sons. Wifes name may have been Polly. Zara and Gilbert were well educated in later life so school records may be a place to look. I need information. I only need hard copy/copies of any information that names Theodore as Zara Luzerne Cotton's Father. EMail: Tom Cotton

GEORGE WASHINGTON CRANDALL

Wed Jan 1 16:26:39 1997 I am trying to locate information on the father of George Washington Crandall born 19 January, 1815 in Pompey, Onondaga Co. NY and later moved with his family to Wales, Erie Co NY. He is listed as Noah Crandall and married to either a Sarah Coates (in 1813) or to a Mary Wakeley. The information I have indicates Noah was born either in 1796 to a Chester Crandall and a Ms. Dunlop; or 1774 (Dutchess Co, NY) to Jeremiah Crandall and Freelove Keeney Crandall.
