Dr. Mercer moved the appointment of a committee of three to draft resolution expressive of the feelings of the meeting.

The Chair appointed Drs. mercer, Benedict and Tefft as such committee. The committee, through their Chairman, reported the following preamble and resolutions, which were unanimously adopted:--

Whereas. In the all wise Providence of God, another ember has been taken from among us, and knowing his worth as a physician and a man, we would offer a last tribute of respect to his memory, therefore,

Resolved, That in the death of Dr. Hezekiah Joslyn, this society has lost one of its oldest, most faithful and useful members.

Resolved, That in the profession of his choice, he was a man of rare acquirements, of unbounded zeal and energy in acquiring knowledge, and as faithful and zealous in applying it to the alleviation of human suffering. An invalid for many years, but ever kind and sympathetic, often visiting the sick when he himself was the greatest sufferer.

Resolved, That as a philanthropist and a co-worker with the good of all ages, to improve society and elevate mankind, the lowly, the unfortunate victim of vice and crime, and the down-trodden of earth, have lost, in the death of Dr. Joslyn, one of their most earnest and devoted friends.

Resolved, That socially, with his varied learning, his cordial and genial nature, and his animated and earnest conversational powers, society has lost one of their most earnest and devoted friends.

Resolved, That we tender our sympathies to the daughter and the relatives of the deceased, and would mingle our tears with their over this irreparable loss.

Resolved, That this Society attend the funeral, and wear the usual badge of mourning on the occasion.

Resolved, That the Secretary forward a copy of these resolutions and the proceedings of this meeting to the family of the deceased.

Dr. Joslyn was one of the oldest and most energetic members of the profession. He joined the Onondaga Medical Society June 7th, 1825, and was ever one of its most punctual and zealous participators in the business of its meetings, holding the office of Vice President of the Society at the time of his decease. His death is the ninth which has taken place in the ranks of the Society within the last two years, viz:--Drs. Laughlin, Neekham, Lull, Hoyt, Samson, Sherwood, Merriman, Taylor and Joslyn, all of which were old and life-long practitioners in this county.
