This book contains tombstone inscriptions, burial records and detailed notes for seven cemeteries in the Town of Lysander and seven
cemeteries in the Town of Van Buren. Although Miss
Voorhees had copied the majority of the inscriptions from the Chase, Jacksonville and
Lysander Cemeteries, they are not included in the book. Also, there are no inscriptions
for Riverview Cemetery (Village of Baldwinsville), but a partial listing of burial records
is shown. The Pendergast Cemetery in Phoenix is not included in the book.
The majority of the information was compiled between the late 1920s and early 1940s,
and include sources such as Bible records, newspaper records, New York State Vital
Records, burial records, land records, church records, maps and family histories.
Miss Voorhees was allowed to copy Dr. Beauchamp’s diaries, which contained one of the
most comprehensive collections of baptisms, marriages and burials for the area. Dr.
William M. Beauchamp served the Grace Episcopal Church in Baldwinsville for 35 years,
commencing in 1865. She interfaced these valuable records with her numerous other
sources and produced a magnificent book.

Lysander."
A more detailed request, such as, "I am looking for information on my Smith family
in the Town of Lysander. John Smith b. abt 1798, d. after 1840; at least 3 children;
wife was Jane Smith. They lived in Belgium, so any Smith burial in the Belgium
Cemetery would be of great interest to me."
