The
People of the State of New York, To ERI MILES, Send Greeting;
Whereas
WILLIAM MILES as is alleged lately died intestate, being at or
immediately
previous to his death, an inhabitant of or having left assets which
then were
or have since come within the county of Onondaga, by means whereof the
ordering
and granting administration of all and singular the goods, chattels,
and
credits of which the said intestate died possessed, and also the
auditing, allowing
and final discharging the account thereof, do belong unto our Surrogate
of the
county of Onondaga; And we, being
desirous, that the goods, chattels and credits of the said intestate
shall be
well and faithfully administered, applied and disposed of Do grant unto
you the
said ERI MILES full power by these presents to administer and
faithfully
dispose of all and singular with said goods, chattels and credits; to
ask,
demand, recover and receive the debts which unto the said intestate
whilst
being and at the time of his death did belong; and to pay the debts
which the
said intestate did owe, as far as such goods, chattels and credits will
thereto
extend and the law requires hereby requiring you to make or cause to be
made a
true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels and
credits
of the said intestate, within a reasonable time, and return a duplicate
thereof, to our Surrogate of the county of Onondaga, within three
months from
the date of these present; And if further personal property or assets
of any
kind not mentioned in any inventory that shall have been so made, shall
come to
your possession or knowledge, to make or cause to be made, in like
manner a
true and perfect inventory thereof, and within the same within tow
months after
discover thereof; And we do by these Presents depute, constitute and
appoint
you the said ERI MILES administrator of all and singular the goods,
chattels
and credits which were of the said WILLIAM MILES, deceased.
In
testimony whereof, we have caused the seal of office of our said
Surrogate to
be hereunto affixed. Witness:
Isaac T. Minard, Surrogate of our said
county of Onondaga, at Baldwinsville, in said county the 11th
Day of
May A.D. 1840

a Surrogate Court held in the village of Baldwinsville, in & for
the county
of Onondaga, on the 11th day of May A.D. 1840.
Present, Isaac T. Minard, Surrogate.
IN
THE MATTER OF THE PERSONAL ESTATE OF WILLIAM MILES, DECEASED}
ERI
MILES of the town of Clay in said County appeared, this day, in court
&
(prays?) application for letters of administration on the estate of
said
WILLIAM MILES, deceased and exhibits proof, that said WILLIAM MILES,
then being
an inhabitant of said town of Clay, died in said town on the 25th
day of December last, a natural death; That said deceased died
intestate, and
left no widow & That said ERI was the son & only next of kin of
said
deceased. Wherefore the said ERI having
executed the bond and taken & subscribed the oath required by law,
which
bond & oath are now on file in the office of said Surrogate, It is
ordered,
That letters of administration of the goods, chattels & credits of
the said
WILLIAM MILES deceased, be granted to the said ERI MILES.
