§1 ForewordIt is the plan of the Little Nine Partners Historical Society to publish from time to time articles on subjects of local historical significance. For our first publication we are presenting a paper on Hammertown, the site of the Harris-Husted house, an 18th century house in process of restoration by the Society. Since this is our first issue we have included a history of our society from its beginning with lists of its officers and trustees. We plan further publications as funds become available and have the following contributions in readiness: "Pulvers Corners" by B. Jordan Pulver, "Maplewilde Peony Gardens" by Grace Hoysradt, "Flowers For Remembrance" by Paul Hoysradt, "Stissing Mountain Revisited" by Lawrence Paul, "Shekomeko" by Linda Brands and "A History of the Gallatin Reformed Church" by Mrs. Willard Kilmer. In addition to the above we have had promises of other papers which we hope will be realized. Long-range plans include the transcribing of taped society programs, taped interviews with older residents and the updating of Isaac Huntting's LITTLE NINE PARTNERS in all its aspects, including family genealogies, organizations, businesses and institutions.
We thank those who have already responded with contributions of historical interest and hope that efforts to revive the story of Pine Plains and its neighboring areas will be continued.
