ABOUT THE GENEALOGY WORKSHOP

The Huntington Historical Society’s Genealogy Workshop conducts monthly meetings from September through June, with guest speakers to discuss issues of common concern to family historians. Meetings are held in the Barn at the Conklin House or at a public library..

Other activities include field trips to resource centers, research and indexing projects, and participation in all-day seminars and family history fairs.

The Workshop publishes a monthly Newsletter featuring local, national and international topics of genealogical interest

PROJECTS

Members of the Genealogy Workshop participate in activities such as research for publications, indexing of records at The Huntington Historical Society’s Archives and cemetery tombstone readings.

Our members also participate, along with members of other organizations, in database projects of the Genealogy Federation of Long Island. These databases include indexes to Naturalization, Military, Vital Records and other records in Long Island – New York Metropolitan area depositories. Over ten million names are available online now, with another two million to be added shortly. For details, click here
