Last Will and Testament of Comfort Clow

Probated at Catskill, February 1, 1875


In the name of God Amen  I Comfort Clow of the Town of Athens in the County of Greene and State of New York of the age of seventy six years and upwards & being of sound mind & memory do make publish & declare this my last will & testament in manner following that is to say

First I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate by my executors hereinafter named

Second I give and bequeath to my son Barnet G the sum of one thousand ($1000) dollars in case he shall personally live to receive the same but not otherwise

Third I give & bequeath to my son John R his heirs & assigns the sum of One thousand ($1000) dollars

Fourth I give & bequeath to my son Aaron F his heirs & assigns the sum of Five hundred ($500) dollars. In case my estate shall be insufficient to pay in full all of the foregoing legacies then and in that case I direct that the same be paid pro rata

Fifth I give devise & bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of all my real and personal estate of every kind name & nature whatsoever to my children Casper, Barnet G, Richard, John R and Aaron F Clow, Rosetta Van Loan, Anna Maria Adams. The child or children of my deceased daughter Eliza Clow who shall be living at the time of my decease only the child or children of my deceased daughter Rachel Ann Van Loan who shall be living at the time at the time of my decease only. The child or children of my deceased daughter Adama Adams who shall be living at the time of my decease only & their heirs and assigns share and share alike I expressly declare and it is my intention that all the children (if there be more than one) of each of my said daughters severally who shall be living at the time of my decease shall receive but one share as in this fifth bequest and devise given the same as though there was but one such child the same to be divided between them share and share alike

Sixth I give and devise all my real and personal estate of what nature & kind soever to my sons Barnet G Clow and Richard Clow my daughters Mary C Clow and Emeline Clow the executors of this my last will and testament hereinafter nominated and appointed in trust for the payment of my just debts and the legacies above specified with power to sell and dispose of the same at public or private sale and

Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my sons Barnet G Clow and Richard Clow and my daughters Mary C and Emeline Clow the executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made_ In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty first day of May AD 1874
