To Ebenezer Stanton one of the Overseers of the Public Roads etc. in District of Coxhacky:

 

By Virtue of the Act of the Assembly of the Province of New York etc. You are hereby  required to Cause the Inhabitants mentioned at the Foot hereof to make, mend and repair the public Road that Leads from the South bounds of the Manner of Ranselear near the House of [blank] Stanton to the Kings Road upon Coxhacky in such places as is Necessary and requesit (sic) – Cause the Whole of the party to work two Days if Needful and is Waggon and Horses wanted to be taken from any of those rated Eight Days as the Rates are set opposite the Names  The working on said Roads to begin on the 21st of this Present Month of June or as soon thereafter as possable, a Return of this order you are to make to the Clerk of the Commissioners of the Roads etc. within a Month from the date hereof Mentioning the Days Each Man has Worked accordingly and for their account thereof under Oath According to the Directions of the Act etc. When you shall be thereunto required – Wereof fail not as you will Answer the Contrary as the Law Directs  Dated 14 June 1775
