LUCIA ALBERS GROSCH
Lucia Grosch, 98, of Potter Hollow, New York passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009. Born in Essen, Germany on August 31, 1911 to John and Bertha (Burrush) Hirsch, she came to the United States in 1913. She married William Ernest Albers on May 29, 1936 (deceased March 1958); children Diana (Melvin) Endsley, John (Brigitte) Albers. She married Jason Grosch, November 22, 1964 (deceased September 1996.)
She graduated from Brooklyn Girls School, Diploma NYC School of Nursing. Lucia was a member of the Holy Orthodox Church of America, became an Ordained Deaconess in 1962, consecrated to the priesthood and episcopate in 1980, and declared Archbishop Matriarch, 1985.
Editor of Mercury Newsletter 1973-2001. She was author of sermons and lectures for Metro College of the Society of Rosecrucians, Inc., of America, declared Hierophantia, 1973 and declared Supreme Magus 1985.
Funeral service was on Friday, September 25 at the Russian Orthodox Church, Pucker Street, Potter Hollow, New York. Interment followed in the Pucker Street Cemetery, all under the direction of the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York.

DORIS PALMER
Doris Palmer, 88 years, of Westerlo, NY, passed away on Sept. 28, 2009, in St Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY. She was born in Rensselaerville, NY on April 21, 1921, daughter of the late Manley and Mabel (Cole) Booughton.
Doris moved from Rensselaerville to Westerlo in 1940 when she and Arthur T. Palmer were married. They resided on the family farm. She was a Cook and Cafeteria Worker in the Greenville School for 20 years. Doris worked on the family farm beside her husband and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She loved nature and especially the birds at her bird feeders.
Doris was a Life Member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a Member of the Westerlo Historical Society and Volunteer at the Westerlo Library from day one. Doris worked as an inspector on the Board of Elections in the town of Westerlo for 60 years. She was an active Member of the Dormansville U.M. Church where she was a Communion Steward, Past Secretary and Past Treasurer. She was a tireless worker in her church, working church suppers, teaching Sunday school, working with the youth fellowship, doing altar flowers and cleaning the church.
Surviving are her son, Leland (Anna Dugan) Palmer and her daughter, Laura Palmer and her faithful feline friend, Mattie and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held at the Dormansville U.M. Church on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. to which all are invited. All were under the direction of the Cunningham Funeral Home.

RUDOLPH F. “RUDI” WEINLICH
Rudolph F. Weinlich, 96 years of Greenville, NY passed away on Sept. 30,
2009 in St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany, NY. He was
born in Bronx, NY on Feb. 18, 1913, son of the late Alfred C. and Anna J. (Mauss)
Weinlich.
Rudi served his country in the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant during WWII.
Rudi was the oldest living alumni of the Fordham University. He had a long career as an Insurance Consultant for the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. in New York City. Rudi and his wife Ellie moved from the Bayside, NY to Greenville in the 1960’s. Rudi was the oldest member of Our Lady of Knock Council # 6439 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the American Legion in NYC.
Rudi was a talented artist working in many mediums, oils and glass fusion as examples.
He was Communicant at St. John the Baptist Church until his health declined. Besides his parents, Rudi was predeceased by a son, Paul Weinlich, his beloved wife, Eleanor “Ellie” (Cusick) Weinlich and a brother, Rev. Alfred J. Weinlich.
Surviving are his two daughters, Ellen Wittet (Eric) of Cape Cod, MA and Anne Miltenberg,(Richard) of Long Island, NY, his son John J. Weinlich (Karen Bennett) of Greenville, NY, a grandson, Alex Miltenberg, a granddaughter, Ariana Miltenberg and many dear friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 at 8:30.am. from the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, NY with a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life at 9:00a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment followed in the St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.

MARILYN J. ZIMMER
Marilyn J. Zimmer (74) of East Durham, NY passed into eternal life after a long, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Catskill, NY on April 28, 1935, daughter of the late Clifford & Margaret Matthews.
She was a graduate of Cairo Central School. Her first job was at Balsam Shade Resort in Greenville, and she then worked for 30 years in restaurants throughout Green County while raising her family. She also worked at Amos Post in Catskill. Marilyn was active in the Cairo United Methodist Church; she was a member of the United Methodist Women and for over 40 years, sang in the choir and was proud of being a certified Lay Speaker. She enjoyed collecting bears and dolls, horses and Native American Art. She loved her home, tending to her many plants and watching “her” hummingbirds.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents and stepfather Ernest Millett, her sister Elaine Swartout, her brother Ronald and sons Bruce & Jeffrey Duncan.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert F. Zimmer and her children, Kevin M. Duncan, Gary Duncan (Kathy), Karen Martin, Cindy Lee Dingee (Robert) and Kerwin Duncan (Michelle); 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law Douglas Swartout, 1 nephew & 2 nieces.
Above all, Marilyn should and will be remembered for always putting her children first, for her deep love of the Lord and tremendous faith, and the special place she had in her heart for her Pastor and friend, Retta Lykens, and all of her many friends. Her warm bright smile and gentle spirit will be sorely missed.
Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service at the Cairo United Methodist Church on Main Street, Cairo, NY, beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16, officiated by Pastor Retta Lykens.

EVELYN “BABE” BERNESSER
Evelyn “Babe” Bernesser (74) of Bethlehem, NC formerly of Coxsackie, NY died Friday, October 16, 2009 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC. Mrs. Bernesser was born July 18, 1935 in Catskill, NY, daughter of the late William & Wilhelmina (Radke) Bergman.
A member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lenior, NC, Evelyn, a passionate and generous spirit, worked with her husband for many years at their family business, Vince’s Floor Covering, The Wishy Washy Laundromat, and the Coxsackie Car Wash in Coxsackie, NY. In 1984, they retired to Bethlehem, NC where she was a member of the Toast Masters and the Gem & Minerals Club of Catawba Valley. Evelyn had a passion for life and people, loved art, and most of all she loved her family. Evelyn was a creative and free spirit whose laughter knew no boundaries.
She is survived by, Vincent Bernesser, Jr., her husband of 56 years; daughters, Colleen Wallner (Armin) of Hickory, NC and Dr. Darlene Euler (Richard) of Sprakers, NY, sons; Vincent Bernesser III of Albany, NY, Daniel Bernesser (Barbara) of Coxsackie, NY, Thomas Bernesser (Kathy) of Delanson, NY and John Bernesser (Noelle) of Cornelius, NC; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother William “Sonny” Bergman (Irene) of Norton Hill, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Edith “Honey” Hilland & Catherine “Dolly” Schultz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Coxsackie, NY. Friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, NY on Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore, NY.

OGDEN B. SADDLEMIRE
SOUTH WESTERLO – Ogden B. Saddlemire (75) passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday, October 19, 2009. Oggie was born in Knox, NY on January 7, 1934 son of the late Claude and Myrtle (Tousan) Saddlemire.
Very active in his community Oggie was a Democratic Committeeman for the Town of Westerlo, a Lifetime Member of the Town of Westerlo Fire Dept., a member of: Westerlo Rescue Squad, the Westerlo Zoning Board, the Air Force Association, the Rensselaerville Senior Citizens, the South Westerlo C.C. Church, the Church Consistory and was also a Church Trustee. He was a former Little League Coach and also assisted with the racehorses at the Saratoga Harness Track. A friend to all he met he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Raye Cooke Saddlemire, a son Dennis Saddlemire, a daughter Doreen Saddlemire, his step-children: Shelly Taylor (Michael), Nancy Barber (William), Laurie Scudder (Robert), Dara Buchy(John), granddaughter Naomi Saddlemire, step-grandchildren; Major Michael Taylor (Connie), Dayna Kinner (Rev. Chris), Allan Taylor (Tiffany), Dr. Daniel Barber (Erin), Julie Barber, Joshua Barber, Erin Scudder, Ashley Scudder, Kyle Scudder, Katelyn Wickham, Samantha Buchy, Aaron Buchy, Jacob Buchy and Sarah Buchy, step-grandchildren, Madison & Ella Taylor, also his sisters, Nellie Agosta, Martha Vass, Edna Saddlemire, a brother John Saddlemire (Diane) and several special nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Louis Agosta, Ernest Saddlemire and George Saddlemire, and two sisters, Jennie Cramer and Lillie Mae Saddlemire, predeceased him.
Funeral service was held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the South C.C. Church in South Westerlo, NY. Friends called at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Homes, Inc. on Friday. Interment was in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.

ELISABETH “BETTY” VAUGHN
Elizabeth “Betty” Vaughn (87) of Greenville, NY passed away at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn on October 24, 2009. She was born in Grapeville, NY on November 4, 1921 daughter of the late Ezra and Gladys (Smith) Winn.
She graduated from Greenville Central School, Class of 1940. Always keeping busy she was a former waitress at Colonial Manor, Carelas’ Restaurant and a cafeteria worker, cashier, school bus drive and school census enumerator at the G.C.S. until her retirement in 1982. She was a very active member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Greenville Historical Society and a Life Member of the Greenville American Legion Aux. Unit # 291, and a member of the Greene County ALA & the Third Dist. ALA of the Dept. of NY. She also loved playing Pinochle, Scrabble and watching Golf on TV and especially loved being a “grandma” and “great-grandma”. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a great homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children; Kenneth Friss (Ruthann) of Kingston, NY, Mildred Gipprich (John) of Greenville, NY, T. Walter Vaughn (Doreen) of Hudson, NY, Roger Vaughn (Patti) of Cornwallville, NY, Cheryl Vaughn of Delmar, NY, Lena Savino (Donald) of Greenville, NY and Curtis Vaughn (Janet) of Riverbank, CA also 17 grandchildren and their spouses and several step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Glori Winn, Roseann Vaughn, June Vaughn, several dear nieces and nephews; grandnieces and nephews and several card playing and Scrabble playing friends and very dear friend Gretta.
Her parents, her husband Thurston “Toot” Vaughn, a brother Charles Winn, a sister Frances Suter and a granddaughter Nicole E. Savino predeceased her.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday October 28 at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery. The Greenville American Legion Aux. Unit # 291 will have a service on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Christ Episcopal Church or the Greenville American Legion Aux. Unit.
