Surrogate’s Court, Greene County, State of New York

In the matter of the application of James L. Abrams, for the letter of Administration of the goods, chattels and credits of Nelson Abrams deceased.

To the Surrogate’s Court of the County of Greene.

The petition of James L. Abrams respectfully shows:

I. That Nelson Abrams, the deceased was at the time of his death a resident of Greene County, and died in the town of Cairo in the said county on the

15th day of April 1899, without leaving any last will and testament, to the best of your, petitioners knowledge, information and belief, that your petition has made a diligent search for a will of said deceased. and has not found any or obtained any information that he left any.

II. That the said decedent died possessed of certain personal property within this state; and as your petition has is informed and believes, the value of the personal property of which the said decent died possessed together with the probable amount to be received, by reason of any right of action granted to an administration of the said decedent, by special provision of law does not exceed the sum of $2.00.

III. That the widow and only next of kin are as follows; all above over twenty-one years of age.

Mary E. Abrams, widow of decedent residing at Cairo, NY.

James L. Abrams, your petitioner, son of decedent, residing at Oak Hill, NY.

IV. That your petitioner is a son is the son of the said decedent, as above stated and is, as such entitled to administration upon the estate of said decedent,

on the failure of the said Mary E. Abrams, who is the only person to have prior right to your petition, to apply for and take out such administration, the above mentioned, Mary E. Abrams, who is entitled before your petition to such administration, be willing to resume hr right to the same in favor of your petition.

V. That no petition for a grant of letters of administration upon said estate has been filed in any surrogate’s court of this state.

Wherefore, your petition prays for a decree, awarding letters of administration upon the goods, chattels and credits of a said Nelson Abrams, deceased,

to your petition.

Mary E. Abrams, of the town of Cairo, County of Greene and the State of New York, widow of the late Nelson Abrams, late of the Town of Cairo,

County of Greene and State of New York, decreed do hereby renounce all right to letters of Administration on the estate of said Nelson Abrams. Mary E. Abrams
