This indenture made the first day of April one
thousand eight hundred forty eight between CALTERN BRIGGS and OLIVE his wife of
the town of Coxsackie in Greene county New York of the first part and CONRADT
HOUGHTALING of the same place of the second part. Witnesseth that the said party
of the first part in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to them
duly paid have sold by these presents do grant and convey unto the said party of
the second part to his heirs assigns forever. All that certain piece of land
situate in the town of Coxsackie aforesaid in the north side of the road leading
from the village of Coxsackie east to what is commonly called the Upper Landing
bounded as follows: south by the above mentioned road, east by the lands of
ARTHUR WORDEN, north by the lands of AMOS PHEFFER and west by the lands of
WALTER S. STOUTENBURGH containing four acres of land more or less as the same
was occupied by WIDOW SARAH BUTLER in her lifetime with the appurtenances and
all the estate title and interest of the said parties of the first part therein.
This grant is intended as a security for the payment of the sum of one thousand
dollars in manner following to wit: in three annual installments of three
hundred thirty three dollars and thirty three cents each on the first day of
August in each year commencing on the first day of August next with lawful
interest according to the condition of certain bond being _________ date
herewith executed by the said CALTERN BRIGGS to the said party of the first part
as collateral, security which payments if duly made will render this conveyance
void but if default shall be made in the payment of the above sum of principal
or interest hereafter said party of the second part his assigns are hereby
authorized pursuant to statutes
sell the premises above granted or to such thereof as will be necessary to
satisfy the amount thereunder with the costs and expenses allowed by law. In
witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands
and seals the day and year first above written.

I do hereby certify that a certain indenture of mortgage
bearing date the first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred forty eight made and executed by CALTERN BRIGGS and OLIVE his wife to
secure the payment of the sum of one thousand dollars to CONRADT HOUGHTALING
registered in the office of the clerk of the county of Greene in book V of
Register of Mortgages page 356 on the twenty second day of May 1848 with bond
accompanying the said mortgage, have been redeemed, paid off, satisfied, and
discharged. Date nineteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred fifty two.
