Anthony Ingui

Anthony Ingui, 82, of Eddy Cohoes Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Athens, died Saturday, September 30 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in the Bronx December 17, 1924, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Sara Ingui.
He was the oldest member of his class at Columbia-Greene Community College when it was located in Athens. He received an associate’s degree in accounting.
Mr. Ingui was a television repair technician at the Ravena Department Store.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and liked gardening and being on his tractor.
Survivors include a son, Richard A. of Ballston Lake; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Frederick Reutzel of Castleton and Denise and Joseph Revette of Coxsackie; six grandchildren, Andy, Eric, Amy, Deborah, Brett and Jennifer; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Rose, in 1999, and two brothers, Frederick and Joseph.
Calling hours are today, October 5, from 9 to 11am at W.C. Brady’s Sons Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie. A Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Coxsackie.
Burial follows in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.

John Mitchell
Bird watcher
John Joseph Mitchell, 92, of Schenectady, formerly of Acra, died Tuesday, September 26, at St. Claire’s Hospital, Schenectady, after a long illness.
He was born in Ireland September 9, 1914, the son of the late James and Rose (McDonald) Mitchell.
He served with the Royal Air Force of England during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Manhattan Refrigeration Company of New York City.
He had been a Cairo area resident since 1979 and was a communicant of Sacred heart Church of Cairo. He was an avid birdwatcher and bicyclist.
Survivors include several cousins in Ireland, one of which is Tony Whyte, and a friend, Mary Jo Melendez of Schenectady.
Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.
Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

Denis O’Connell
Construction worker
Denis O’Connell died Thursday September 28 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a battle with cancer.
He was born March 4, 1939 in Scartaglen, County Kerry, Ireland, the son of the late Denis and Elizabeth (O’Brien) O’Connell.
He came to the United States in 1960 and worked as a construction laborer. For the last 32 years he worked as a maintenance man at the Gavin’s Golden Hill House in East Durham.
In addition to his parents, two brothers, William and Edmond, predeceased him.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Agnes, of Athens; three daughters, Mary Firstiun and husband Michael of Catskill, Elizabeth Cruz and husband Michael of Orlando, FL; and Agnes Noel of Athens; three brothers, Patrick and wife Mary and John and wife Julia of County Kerry, Ireland, and Joe and wife Denise of Kunkletown, PA; five sisters, Brigid Faughnan of Queens, Mary Donohue of Mansfield, CT. Eileen Malvey and husband Jim of Valley Steam, Elizabeth Maille and husband Ray of Vero Beach, FL, and Catherine Martin of Kingston; three grandchildren, Michael Firstiun, Keith Noel and Julianne Noel; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial was in Athens Rural Cemetery.

William Penniston
Retired truck driver
William F. Penniston, 68, a/k/a Santa Claus, of Salem, NY, died Friday, September 29 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT.
Born in Torrington, CT, September 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Rhoda and Franklin Johnson and grandson of the late Margaret and William Penniston, who raised him.
He was a farmer and truck driver. He retired from driving for 23 years at Sega Ready Mix in Connecticut.
He enjoyed taking long rides in the country and helping Santa bring joy to children. He helped friends with farming during the summer.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Cindy of Catskill and Shawn and Katie of Acra; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Masrty Johnson of Sherman, CT, and Walter and Roby Johnson of New Milford; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia Johnson of East Haven, CT, and Sarah and Robert Wocjiekowski of New Milford; four grandchildren, Carrie, Matthew, Carter and Dillon; a great-granddaughter; his companion, Betty Hartnett of Berlin and her children, Gini, Lloyd, Linda, Michael, Roy and Tim; and several nieces and nephews.

Gaetana Zinnanti
Lady Elks past president
Gaetana Zinnanti, 88, of Cairo, died Sunday, October 1 at Kaaterskill Care, Catskill.
Born in Lawrence, MA, November 23, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina Montalto Marino.
Mrs. Zinnanti was a member and past president of the Catskill Lade Elks.
Survivors include her husband of more than 70 years, Anthony Zinnanti, Sr. of Cairo; four sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Diane Zinnanti of Chatham, MA, Anthony and Marina Zinnanti of Southwest Ranches, FL, Richard and Eileen Zinnanti Red Hook, and Thomas and Mary Zinnanti of Alpharetta, GA; a brother, Michael Marino of Edison, NJ; three sisters, Josephine Agosta of Glendale, Mae Schimmenti of Flushing and Rita Verrone of Toms River, NJ, 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Antoinette Busa, predeceased her.
Burial is in Saratoga National Cemetery at the family’s convenience.

Dr. James Rowan
Restorer of Hush Hush
Dr. James Rowan died of cancer on Sunday, August 27, at Mr. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. He was 71.
Dr. Rowan was an internationally acclaimed academician, researcher and specialist in the treatment of epilepsy. He held distinguished professorships in neurology and neurophysiology at NYU-Mt. Sinai, where he was co-director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and at the Bronx Veterans Hospital, where he was chief of neurology and director of the Neurology Research Center. He also held appointments at Columbia University College of Medicine and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
The author of 12 books on the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy, he was chief investigator with Dr. Eugene Ramsey of the Veterans Hospital in Miami of a 10-year study of epilepsy in the elderly. Their study, conducted at 10 sites around the country, revolutionized this treatment in the elderly. His book, The Brainstorm Healers, was written for patients and their families. Dr. Rowan was also author of many articles, chapters and peer review studies on the subject of epilepsy.
Rowan was born in Los Angeles and raised in Ohio. He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stamford University School of Medicine. About 1980, Dr. and Mrs. Rowan purchased the Augustine Prevost house in Greenville from George Vanderbilt and began a restoration project that spanned several years. The house is now on the National Register of Historic Houses and is the yearly site of a fundraiser for the Greenville Library. In 1993, Hush Hush, as the site is called, celebrated its 200 birthday.
Dr. Rowan will be interred in Locust Cemetery on Maple Avenue in Greenville. Major Prevost donated Land for the cemetery and members of the Prevost family are buried there.
Dr. Rowan wife, stepson David Korn of Manhattan, sister-in-law Joan Garofalo of Freehold and several cousins in Ohio survive him.
A graveside service takes place Sunday, October 22 at 2pm at Locust Cemetery. All friends are welcome to attend.

Peter Lounsbury
Businessman, veteran
The family of Peter Lounsbury announces his passing on Tuesday, October 3, at his home following a gallant and determined fight against heart disease and cancer.
Peter was born in Oak Hill, on April 8, 1929, the son of late Willett E. and Florence (Baitsholts) Lounsbury.
He was a graduate of Greenville Central School. For over 45 years, Peter owned and operated Lounsbury Appliance. His father started this business in 1931. Upon is retirement in January 1991, his son Bruce and daughter-in-law Susan carried the family business into the 21st century.
Peter served his country in the Korean Conflict, from 1951 to 1953. The American Legion became an important part of his life as he held multiple offices at post, county, district, state and local levels for well over 40 years. As the New York State Department Vice Commander in 1986, Peter represented the 26 counties or northeastern New York State. He was a regular blue cap Legionnaire from start to finish.
Peter is survived by his wife of 53 years, June (Tallman) Lounsbury; two daughters, Lynne and husband Charles “Chuck” Zwickel of Catskill and Judy Lounsbury of Durham, CT; two sons, Peter, Jr. “Skip” and wife Rose of Wilmington, DE, and Bruce and wife Susan of Oak Hill; his sister, Betty Jean Cerrik of Tyringham, MA; a brother, Donald Lounsbury of East Durham; and grandchildren Steven and Victoria Zwickel, Eric Englehart, Anna Lounsbury, Michael Lounsbury and Meghan Lounsbury-Waddell and husband William Waddell.
Besides his parents, his brothers, Willet Earl in 1941, and Ernest Paul in 2003, predeceased Peter.
Burial in the Onesquethaw Cemetery, Clarksville will be at the convenience of the family.

Carol Savage
Supporter of the arts
Carol Theodos Savage died Wednesday, October 11 in Florida after a fierce fight with lung cancer.
A person of wide and varied interests, Carol was tireless supporter of the arts and a boating, tennis, golf and skiing enthusiast.
She chaired the Board of Governors of the Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill. She also served on the advisory council of Hudson Valley Technology and Commerce and the advisory board of Hudson River Classics Showcase Theater, the Manhattan School of Music, and multiple committees for the Olana Partnership and even made a run for a seat on the Cairo Town Council.
Before retiring in 2001, Carol was a global marketing and communications executive and held senior positions with American Express and Citigroup. She was a consummate professional who maintained her spirit and humor, as well as her budget.
Carol attended Skidmore College, had a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of South Florida and a master’s in marketing communications from Hunter College.
Surviving are her husband, Michel Coldberg; a son, John Tsavaris; a daughter Tia Davidovici; her mother, Frances Theodos; a brother, Harry Theodos; her granddaughter, Brigette Davidovici; and her stepchildren, Claude-Danielle Goldberg Badger and Yves-Gerard Goldberg.

Deborah T. Wagner
Businesswoman
Deborah T. Wagner, 55, of East Durham, died at Columbia memorial hospital in Hudson, Monday, October 9.
She was born in New York City September 25, 1951.
She and her husband David operated The D. Wagner Group, a printing company in East Durham.
Besides her husband, surviving are her son Robert and daughter Janette Dawn.
As to her wishes, Deborah was cremated at the Albany Rural Cemetery.
