CHERUBIN LANGENSTEIN
Dairy farmer

Cherubin “Joe” Langenstein, 80, of Norton Hill, died at Albany Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 28.

He was born in Switzerland on June 29, 1927.

Joe and his late wife Marie had operated the Hill Top Dairy Farm in Norton Hill.

Surviving are three children, Margrit Gachter-Nussbaum, Esther Nussbaum and Rudolf Nussbaum, all in Switzerland.

Spring interment is in the Greenville Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

GUY FAULKNER
Store owner

Guy E. Faulkner, 69, of Preston Hollow, died suddenly at his home on Thursday. February 28.

He was born in Ossining May 21, 1938, the son of the late Guy and Lina (Swart) Faulkner.

Retired from the LaFarge Cement Co. in Ravena, he and his wife Katherine operated Kats Paw Collectibles in Preston Hollow.

He served in the Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine (Pellops) Faulkner; three sons, Douglas Faulkner (Donna), Duane Faulkner (Teresa) and Gary Faulkner (Patricia); eight grandchildren and his cats, Izzy Bee and Martin.

Those who desire may remember him by contributing in his memory to the Rensselaerville Ambulance Squad.

CATHERINE MICHAELSEN
Durham school office manager

Catherine Marie Michaelsen, 83, of East Durham, died Monday, March 10 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, following a short illness.

She was born in Astoria June 11, 1924, the daughter of the late Daniel and Marie (Renner) Mack.

Marie to all who knew her, graduated from Greenville Central School in 1941 and worked for many years as the office manager of Durham Central School. She previously served as Durham town clerk.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oak Hill and belonged to the Maranatha Valley Chapter #38 Order of the Eastern Star, the Grand Chapter of New York Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post # 1416 Auxiliary, VFW Post # 7229 Auxiliary and the East Durham Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary.  She also was a former Girl Scout Leader.

Surviving are her husband, Fritz G. Michaelsen; a son, Richard P. Michaelsen (Jean) of Sanborn; two daughters, Karen M. Shelato (Duane) of Lewistown, PA, and Ruth A. Michaelsen of East Durham; four grandchildren, Erik Michaelsen, Kelly Carvalho (Jeff), Mark Michaelsen and Kyle Shelato; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Joseph Carvalho; a brother, George H. Mack (Thelma); several nieces and nephews; and a cousin Marge Costello in Virginia.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Fred J. and Phillip Mack; a sister, Caroline Rusack; and a nephew, Alan Mack.

Funeral services are Friday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oak Hill.  Friends may call at Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville, today, March 13, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Interment is in the Winston Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

ROBERT PECK JR
Trucker, fisherman

Robert H. Peck Jr., 56, of Greenville, died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, March5.

He was born in Albany October 24, 1951, the son of Robert H. Peck Sr. and the late Harriet (Lounsbury) Peck.

Bob was employed by Cason Trucking in Duanesburg.

He was a friend to many and loved his family and fishing with his granddaughters.

Besides his father, surviving are his sons, Michael Peck (Deanna) and Brian Peck; four sisters, Deborah Parker, Sharon Timmis, Pam Boehlke and Susan Davis; three granddaughters, Ashlynn, Kaleigh and Emily Peck; and several nieces and nephews.

He was recently predeceased by his mother, Harriet Peck, and a sister, Wanda Ciccone.

A memorial service took place at Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

Burial is in the Onesquethaw Cemetery at a later date.

Those who desire may contribute to a Community Hospice of their choice.

MICHELLE SEYMOUR
Human resource coach

Michelle A. Seymour, 46, of Earlton, died Thursday, March 6 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA, following a long illness.

She was born in Albany November 8, 1961, the daughter of Sandra (Powell) Comer and the late Floyd Comer.

Michelle was a graduate of Rensselaer High School.  She was a human resource coach for K-Mart.

Michelle always put the needs of others before her own.  She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.

Besides her mother, surviving is her husband, Joseph J. Seymour; a son, James Dwyer II and his fiancé, Samantha Williams of Albany; a daughter, Jeanine Riley (William); a stepdaughter, BetteJo Simon; a stepson, Joseph John Dwyer II; three step-granddaughters, Madison and Kelly Simon and Corey Seymour; and a sister, Tina Farr.

A brother, James Waldron, predeceased her.

Arrangements were with Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

BETTY MAY DAHLBERG
Retired teacher

Betty May Dahlberg, 87, of Conesville, died Wednesday, March 5 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Dahlberg was born in Baldwin on March 18, 1920 a daughter of the late Cornelius and Lillian Etta (Buck) White.

She graduated from Oneonta State with a bachelor’s and master’s of science degree in education.  She started her teaching career in Grand Gorge, then on to Middleburgh Central School for several years.  Finally she retired from elementary education at Gilboa-Conesville Central School.

She had a passion for history and travel, spending many summers in England, Scotland and touring America on bus trips.  A love of flowers took her to the tulip fields in the Netherlands and the roaming hills of heather in Scotland.

Betty loved spring and the anticipation of blooming flowers and sweet melodies of the songbirds.

Quilting and sewing were an art for Betty that brought comfort and joy.  Family and friends will forever remember her for the hundreds of quilts, wall hangings and decorations she made through the years and gifted to them.

She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma since 1973, the New York State Teachers Association and the Conesville Chapel Church.

Betty was predeceased in 1958 by her husband, Eric, whom she married on November 20, 1941, and also by her sister, Lorraine Foland in 2006.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty Lou Buel (Raymond) and Linda Szeliga of Conesville, Susan Norton of California, and Emily Oakhill (Harold) of Poughkeepsie; her son, Eric J. Dahlberg of Conesville; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service takes place Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at the Conesville Chapel Church.  Pastor Dottie Morris and the Rev. Jason Thompson co-officiate.  Burial follows in Manorkill Cemetery, weather permitting, Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

Calling hours are Friday, March 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Palmer and Shaylor Inc. Funeral Home, 134 River Street, Middleburgh.

PATRICIA A.  ENDERS
Dedicated volunteer

Patricia A. Enders, 84, of Middleburgh, died Wednesday, March 5 at the Cobleskill Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Enders was born in New York City on July 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Alexander R. and Claire (Short) McCabe.

She graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1942 and was endeared to Middleburg for helping save patrons from the Baker Hotel fire in February of 1942.

She was a lifetime volunteer for various organizations and she enjoyed painting, gardening, birding, NASCAR and rooting for the New York Yankees.

She was a member of the National Society of Tole Painters and was honored to have a work of her art on display in the Smithsonian Institution.

Mrs. Enders was also a member of the Middleburgh Historical Society and the Middleburgh United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband Horst C. Enders of Middleburgh, whom she married June 24, 1951; daughter Debbie Magee (Rick) of Greenville; son Dennis Southard (Judie) of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters Kristine Southard (Tami) of Spanaway, WA; Susan Heath of Tacoma, WA; Jennifer Nicholson (Erik) of Greenville and Kristy Magee of Brooklyn; grandson Michael Southard (Lisa) of Spanaway, WA; great-grandsons Daniel Southard of Spanaway, WA, and Callum Nicholson of Greenville.

A memorial service takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Palmer and Shaylor Inc. Funeral Home, 134 River Street, Middleburgh.  The Revs. Thomas Carney and Carol Coltrain co-officiate.

Burial is in the Middleburgh Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

A funeral Mass for Margaret Deatrick is celebrated Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville.

Friends may meet with the family, prior to the funeral, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.

Interment is in the Medusa Cemetery.

LILLIAN DWYER
ARC volunteer

Lillian C. Dwyer, 86, of Delmar, formerly of Troy, died Wednesday, March 19 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center.

Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Dunn) Bogue, and the widow of James G. Dwyer.

Lillian was a homemaker and also worked at the Troy Public Library in the children’s room and also had worked at Hunter Mountain.

During World War II she was an American Red Cross volunteer in London, England.

Lillian loved traveling, was a cat lover and loved good food.  She was an avid reader.

Survivors include her daughters, Denise O’Brien (Kevin) of Haines Falls and Marilyn LaParl (Anthony Cassidy) of Watervliet; her son, James Dwyer (Paula) of Freehold; a brother, James Bogue of Cambridge; grandchildren Brendan and Sean O’Brien, Shannon (Kevin) Edson, Justin and Jeremy LaParl, and Michael and Kristen Dwyer; and great-grandchildren Jeremy and Brianna LaParl.

She was predeceased by her very good friend Robert Wortendyke.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Troy.

Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady.

Contributions in Lillian’s memory may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, c/o 6110 Executive Boulevard, Rockville, MD.

Arrangements were with the William Leahy Funeral Home, Troy.

AGNES FAUSEL
State Ed retiree

Agnes M. Fausel, 93, of Coxsackie, died Monday, March 17 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, after a long illness.

She was born in Albany on January 17, 1915, the daughter of the late Catherine V. McCarthy and Arthur J. Guyette.

She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Edward J. Fausel, and her son, Frederick K. Fausel.

Agnes was a proud graduate of the Cathedral Academy’s Class of 1932.  She worked for the state Education Department’s bureau of professional licensing for 13 years, retiring in 1976.

She lived in Coxsackie for the past 24 years.

Besides enjoying the company of her family and friends, she enjoyed reading and in earlier years, traveling with the local senior citizens group.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary P. (Frank) Rose of Albany; sons Edward A. (Dorothy) Fausel of Essex Junction, VT, and Gerald W. (Diane) Fausel of Coxsackie; 10  grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.

NANCY L. DEGNEN
Mets fan

Nancy L. Degnen, 66, of Ravens, died Wednesday, March 19 after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Nancy was born and raised in Greenville. She has been a resident of Ravena for the past 40 years.

Nancy most enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She loved traveling, collecting antiques, reading and watching the Mets.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Degnen; her children, Craig (Terry) Morehouse, Paulette (Scott) Malagrida, Paul (Amanda) Morehouse, Susanne (Chris) Morehouse, Susanne (Chris) Morehouse and Lynne (Ken) Rosimini; her sister, Sally Reed; her brother, Howard Adriance; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her daughter, Sherry Morehouse.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk.
