NANCY LOGLIO

Nancy A. Loglio, 75, of Athens, died Monday, June 28, 2004 at Albany Medical Center.

She was born in the Bronx February 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Ralph and Florence (DeMicco) Narcisse.

Loglio had lived in the area for two years and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Athens. She enjoyed painting, reading, writing, writing poetry and gardening.

Before her retirement, she was employed by the Einstein Medical Center in New York City as a dietary consultant.

Survivors include her husband, Vincent Loglio; two sons, Frank Loglio of the Bronx and Ralph Loglio of Athens; four daughters, Stephanie Pinghera and Lisa Loglio, both of the Bronx, Kristine Bufano of Connecticut and Lianne Salisbury of Athens; three sisters, Marion Bray of Piermount, Frances DiMenna of Blauvelt and Larraine Bara if Nanuet; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian Burial is celebrated today, July 1, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Athens. Burial follows in the new Athens Rural Cemetery.

MARY ANN SPINNER

Mary Ann Spinner, 50, of Surprise, died at Albany Medical Center on Wednesday, June23, 2004, after a short illness.

Born in New York City, February 13, 1954, she was the daughter of Eileen (Ferris) Corry of Greenville and the late John Corry.

Spinner was employed by the state Office of General Services in Albany.

Besides her mother, survivors include her husband, August “Skip” Spinner; three children, Colleen and Brian Spinner, both of Surprise, and Rick Spinner, serving with the Marine Corps; two sisters, Julia Crosby and Eileen Hayman; three brothers, John, Stephen and Richard Corry; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in the Greenville Cemetery.

JOAN DISBROW

Joan F. Disbrow, 68, of Greenport, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Great Barrington, MA, February 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Eleanor (Eichstedt) Decker.

Disbrow was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Ernest Wase of Leeds; four sons, Robert L. Disbrow of Mesa, AZ, Howard W. Disbrow of Chicago, David P. Disbrow of Catskill and Thomas J. Disbrow of Duanesburg; a brother, James “Butch” Decker of Hillsdale; two sisters, Ruth Decker of Virginia and Linda Heenie of Connecticut; two grandsons, David P. Disbrow, Jr. of Linlithgo and Thomas J. Disbrow, Jr. of Duanesburg; four granddaughters, Jennifer Delano of Massachusetts, Jacklyn and Sierra Wase of Leeds, and Jessika Disbrow of Linlithgo; and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her companion, William Lippman, and a brother, Edward Decker.

Burial was in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.

Arrangements were with Bates and Anderson-Redmond and Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson.

NANCY KELLY

Nancy J. “Susie” Kelly, 55, of Purling, died suddenly Monday, June 21, 2004 at her residence.

Born in Margaretville January 3, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Charles Sanford and Katie Porter Wood. She is also predeceased by her stepfather, LeRoy Wood.

Kelly was a lifetime area resident who enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, James P. Kelly; a son, James Kelly, Jr., of Kentucky; a daughter, Mrs. Brian (Patricia) Thorpe of Palenville; a sister, Lynda Fuegmann of Sharon Springs; and two grandchildren, Owen and Abigail Thorpe.

Burial was in the Round Top Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

LLOYD SHOVE

Lloyd Herbert Shove, 75, of West Coxsackie’s, died at his home after a long illness, with his family around him, on Wednesday, June 23, 2004.

He was born in Armonk October 26, 1928, the son of the late Frank and Zora B. (Henry) Shove.

Shove was retired from Atlantic Cement Co. after 26 years of service. He also was a past employee of the State Thruway Authority.

He served in the Army from 1947 to 1954.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline E. (Sevilla) Shove; four sons, Lloyd Shove, Jr., and Jeffery Shove, both of West Coxsackie, Brian Shove of Georgia and Nathan Shove of Coxsackie; a daughter Zora Shove of Hawaii; a brother Frank Shove of Colorado; a sister Charlotte Shove of West Coxsackie; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by daughter-in-laws, sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Donald Shove, and a sister, Violet Warga.

Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands.

NORMAN HERRSCHAFT

Norman W. Herrschaft, 90, of Westerlo, died at the Albany County Nursing Hone on Wednesday, June 30, 2004.

He was born in Brooklyn June 10, 1914, the son of the late Robert and Wilhelmina (Ludwig) Herrschaft.

Herrschaft was a longtime employee of the Greenville Norton Hill Lumber Co. and a member of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo.

Survivors include his wife, Edna (Goettelman) Herrschaft; three children, Wayne Herrschaft, Donna Reichman and Patricia Mauer; a brother, Robert Herrschaft; four grandchildren, Scott, Michelle, Trevor and Kyle; and five great-grandchildren, Gaston, Michelle, Gabriel, Hanna and Trevor Jr.

Burial was in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.

MARGARET SULLIVAN

Margaret L. Sullivan, of Freehold, formerly of Naples, FL died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill.

Born January 13, 1919, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, she was the widow of Joseph Sullivan, who died in November 1950 in the Korean War.

She was a restaurant owner in Bethpage, Long Island for more than 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Mary Dwyer and husband Tom of Freehold, Patricia Sullivan and significant other Dominick Germano of Seaford, Long Island, and Eileen Alber and husband Bruce of Seaford, Long Island; sisters Florence, Alma and Mary; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Joan, Agnes and Annie; and two brothers, Jack and Dick.

A religious service is conducted Friday, July 9 at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Road, Seaford (two traffic lights east of Route 135).

Burial follow at the Long Island National Cemetery.

Calling hours are today, July 8, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

TERESA BRANDONE

Teresa R. Brandone, 69, of South Cairo, formerly of Catskill Village, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Catskill August 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Frances (DiStefano) Buttafuoco.

Brandone was a 30 year employee of Green County, having served as a receptionist at Memorial Hospital and the Department of Social Services.

She was a member of the Catskill Ladies Elks #1341 and the Mixed Bowling League in Catskill. She was communicant of St. Patrick’s Church of Catskill and a past member of the St. Patrick’s Mother’s Club and the Catholic Daughters. Her hobbies included collecting cookbooks and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, John D. Brandone; a son, Michael and wife Jeanne Brandone of Chicago; a daughter, Pamela and husband Kenneth Marchesani of Catskill; a brother John Buttafuoco of Florida; grandchildren, John, Maria and Mitchell Brandone, and Daniel, Justin and Cody Marchesani; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Entombment takes place at a later date in the family mausoleum in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia-Green, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.

JOHN CARTLEDGE

John Cartledge, 90, formerly of East Durham, died at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, July 3, 2004.

Born in Yonkers March 20, 1914, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Armitt) Cartledge.

Cartledge was a retired heavy equipment operator, having last worked for Peckham Industries out of Cairo.

He was well known for his singing ability, as a young man singing in several local establishments. He was for awhile a singing waiter at the Blue Danube in Cairo.

He was a member of the Catskill Valley Historical Society and the Durham Center Museum Inc. Of which he was a past member of the Board of Directors.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Hammer and husband Daniel of Fairfield CT.; a son Kenneth Cartledge and wife Karen of Saratoga Springs; five grandchildren, Tracey DeMarco and husband Michael, Christine Cartledge, Todd Lepre and wife Lyn, Jill Silhan and husband Edward, and Dr. Scott Lepre; and two great-granddaughters Ainsley and Sarah Lepre.

His wife Carmela (Mainella) Cartledge, and brothers George and Robert Cartledge, predeceased him.

Burial was in Greenville Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Durham Center Museum.

RUDOLPH SNYDER

Rudolph D. Snyder, 86, of Middleburgh died Thursday, July 1, 2004 while a patient at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.

Born October 15, 1917 in Potter Hollow, he was the son of the late James Mackey Snyder and Nellie Richmond Snyder.

At an early age he and his family moved to Middleburgh where Rudy, as he was known to all, graduated from Middleburgh Central School. He attended RPI prior to enlisting in the Army Air Corps, attaining to the rank of first lieutenant, pilot.

After serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II, he and the late Edgar Bush, also of Middleburgh, established Bush and Snyder Lumber Company. Some years later Snyder resumed his studies and became a licensed land surveyor, opening an office in Middleburgh in 1959. He was founding member of the Eastern New York Association of Land Surveyors and the Catskill Area Association of Land Surveyors.

Always active in community service, Snyder was a member of the Middleburgh Fire Department, American Legion Post #248, the Middleburgh Reformed Church and Schoharie Valley Lodge #491 F & AM.

He served as Middleburgh village mayor in the late 1960s.

Snyder was the first Eagle Scout in Troop 2 of Middleburgh and remained committed to the Scouting program.

He was a past president of the Schoharie County Historical Society and the Schoharie County Community Hospital Board of Directors, and served on the Middleburgh Telephone Company Board of Directors.

An avid collector of antique cars, he was a founding member of the Schoharie Valley Antique Automobile Association and a member of the Classic Car Club of America.

A longtime member of Rotary, with more than 40 years of perfect attendance, he was a Paul Harris Fellow, served as district governor from 1983 to 1984 for district#7190 and was committed to Rotary’s Youth Exchange Program.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janet Schaeffer Bliss Snyder; four children, Joan and James Meinsma, Margaret and William Corradino, Elizabeth and Jack DuPont and James and Bonnie Snyder, all of Middleburgh; grandchildren Dana Meinsma and Drew Lewis of Malvern, PA., Jeremy and Carla DuPont, James DuPont, Landon DuPont, Chloe Snyder and Asa Snyder, all of Middleburgh; great-grandson William Roger Lewis of Malvern, PA.; and numerous nieces and nephew.

Interment was in the Middleburgh Cemetery.

ROBERT QUACKENBUSH

Robert H. Quackenbush, 58, of Freehold, died at Albany Medical Center on Friday, July 2, 2004.

Born in Cobleskill December 29, 1945, he was the son of the late William and Grace (Doley) Quackenbush.

Quackenbush was a foreman for the Greenville Highway Department before ill health forced and early retirement.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed traveling around the countryside and stopping at various garage sales.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie (Crandall) Quackenbush; a daughter, Melissa Quackenbush; grandson David Gabrielle; several brothers and sisters, Lillian Holbrook, Adelbert Quackenbush, Lyn Quackenbush, Donald Quackenbush, Bonnie Vandenberg, Virginia Everleth, EllaMae Twoney, Emma-Jean Eichler and MaryJo Hynes; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Quackenbush, and a sister, Wilene Quackenbush.

A memorial service takes place Friday, July 9, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville. As to his wishes, cremation was at the Albany Rural Cemetery.

THORVALD ANDERSEN

Thorvald Andersen, 82, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004.

Born April 5, 1922 in Haugesund, Norway, he was the son of the late Ole Andreas and Torborg Serina Andersen.

Andersen left Norway at the age of 16 and went to sea as a merchant seaman. While at sea he became ill and was hospitalized in China for six months. Unable to return to Nazi occupied Norway, he came to the United States in 1941.

He served in the U. S. Army in the 99th Infantry Battalion as a member of the Ski Troops. After discharge he worked as commercial fisherman, carpenter, and dock builder and in 1959 moved to Coxsackie, where he owned and operated Thor Marine Inc. until 1984. He retired in Apollo Beach, FL., with his wife Margaret, where they enjoyed many years of sailing on Tampa Bay.

He was a past commodore of the Coxsackie Yacht Club, a member of the Tampa Sailing Squadron, Ark Lodge #48 F&AM and the American Legion Post #166.

Andersen was the husband of 54 years to Margaret Andersen; Father of Linda Deubert and husband Michael, Susan Lethbridge and husband John, and Gail Andersen and husband Larry Cline; and grandfather of Mark and Brian Deubert, Heather, Sara and Kyle Lethbridge and Brandon, Justin, Jason, Spencer and Serena Cline.

Daughter Randi Andersen and 11 brothers and sisters predeceased him.

JOHN PAIGE JR.

John R Paige, Jr., 40, of West Coxsackie, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Wilmington, DE, September 18, 1963, he was the son of John R. and Edith (Goulding) Paige Sr. of West Coxsackie.

Paige was a co-owner with David T. Hotaling of The Luxury Oil Express in Coxsackie. He graduated from Coxsackie High School in 1981 and enjoyed playing football during his school years.

Paige was an avid outdoorsman and a jack of all trades. His hobbies included motorcycling and snowmobile.

Besides his parents, survivors include his fiancée, Betty J. Blancato of West Coxsackie; two stepdaughters, Krista and Brittany Blancato of West Coxsackie; two brothers, David M. Paige of Coxsackie and Stephen V. Paige of Earlton; his aunts, Joan (Goulding) and husband Robert Carl of South Cairo, Marilyn (Federico) and husband Joseph Berlin of Coxsackie, Dorothy (Federico) and husband Kenneth Barker of Johannesburg, South Africa, and Ruth (Federico) and husband Stephen Urand of Poulsbo, WA; uncles Robert Federico of Virginia and Roland and Fran Paige of Wilmington, DE: cousins Elizabeth Federico of Virginia, JoAnne Federico, Jamie Gooley and Abby Gooley, all of California, and Mike Majewski and Andrew and Pat Haldlin of Wilmington, DE.

Burial was in the Cairo Cemetery.

MARTHA ROONEY

Martha M. Rooney, 66, of Cairo, died at her home Saturday, July 10, 2004.

Born in the Bronx November 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Hosty) Hughes.

Rooney moved from the Bronx to Cairo 10.5 years ago, making her home on Bross Street.

She was a communicant of the Lady of the Assumption Church in the Bronx.

Before retiring, she had been employed as a bus driver of New York City.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Quinn of Cairo and the Bronx; two brothers, John and Jude Hosty, both of Schenectady; and three grandchildren, James Quinn and William and Michael Rooney.

A son, William Rooney, died previously.

Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands.

Memorial services will be announced.

Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

SHIRLEY GARDNER

Shirley Elaine Gardner, 80, of Catskill, died Saturday, July 11, 2004 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson, where she had been a patient since June 26.

Born in Catskill December 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Olga McMillan Hardwick, and the widow of John C. “Jack” Gardner.

Gardner attended Catskill High School. She assisted her husband at the family restaurant, The Sunflower Café, on West Bridge Street.

Together they founded the Continental Cadets Drum Corps.

Survivors include her son, Donald L. Gardner, of Leeds and wife Charlene; daughter-in-law Margaret Gardner of Catskill; grandchildren, John Gardner, Jacquelyn Gardner Murray, Donald Gardner Jr., and Todd Gardner; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A son, John H. Gardner, sisters Deanne Dunn, Myrtle Vespucci and Betty Hardwick, and a brother, Kenneth Hardwick, predeceased her.

Burial was in the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

Arrangements were with the Millspaugh Camero Funeral Home, Catskill.

FERDINAND DEUBERT

Ferdinand “Fred” A. Deubert, 89, of Athens, died Friday, July 16, 2004.

Born in Heilbronn, Germany, November 16, 1914, he was the son of Ferdinand and Lina (Wertheim) Deubert.

Deubert came to the United States in 1927 with his parents and siblings.

He attended school in Kingston before moving to Coxsackie.

He served in the Merchant Marines in the Pacific during World War II.

Deubert earned his license as a diesel engineer on the tugboat Samson, for Standard Oil. After leaving that firm, he worked as a stationary engineer for New York State at Coxsackie Correctional until his retirement.

He was a licensed ham radio operator and a member of the Rip Van Winkle Amateur Radio Society.

Survivors include his sister, Irene (Ted) Morgan of Florida; nephews Roger Morgan of Florida and Michael (Linda) Deubert of Coxsackie; great-nephews Mark and Brian Deubert; and friends John and Debra Mumby of Catskill.

He was preceded in death by his brother Helmut, sister-in-law Hazel Deubert and nephew Wayne Morgan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Green County Department for the Aging, 411 Main Street, Catskill 12414.

LEONARD GARDINER

Leonard A. Gardiner, 87, of Norton Hill, died at Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill on Monday, July 19, 2004.

He was born in Greenville Center August 17, 1916, the son of the late Leonard and Helen (Story) Gardiner.

Gardiner served in the Army Air corps, being a B17 pilot and discharged as a first lieutenant. He served with the 353rd Bomb Squadron in the Mediterranean Theater, the Rhineland, Po Valley and the Northern Apennines. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and an Air Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters.

Gardiner was very active in the community and served as Greenville Town Highway Superintendent from 1948 to 1951 and also was a Town Justice for 14 years.

He also was a well regarded sawyer, lumberman and worked at GNH Lumber Inc. He also had a small insurance business and was proud of his L.B.J. Plumbing and Electrical business located in Norton Hill.

He also was a former school bus driver.

Gardiner was a member of the Greenville American Legion Post #291, the Tri-Town Memorial VFW Post #7229, the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church, and the Greene County and Greenville historical societies, and a life member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Co. He was a past member of the Greenville Rotary Club and Knights of Pythias.

Survivors include his nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Claribel (Ingalls) Gardiner, a sister Viola Becker, and his nephew James Adams.

A memorial service is Saturday, July 24, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church. Burial is in the Greenville Cemetery.

ROSE LAMMLY

Rose M. Lammly, 83, of Bethany Village, Coxsackie, died Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Teresian House of Albany.

Born in Coxsackie January 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Nocera) Votta.

Lammly was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Coxsackie’s, a member of the Altar Rosary Society and a charter member of the Columbiettes #548.

She also was a member of the Coxsackie Hose Co. #3 Auxiliary and the Greene County Office for the Aging, and was active in many volunteer organizations.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Lammly and wife Alice of Selkirk and Christopher Lammly and wife Andrea of Milton, VT.; daughters Sharon Costello and husband Michael of Loudonville and Mary Rose Kelley and husband Joseph of Dedham, MA; a brother Michael Votta and wife Barbara of Coxsackie; a sister Julia Daoust and husband Alfred of Coxsackie; a brother-in-law Patrick Alcuri of Coxsackie; a sister-n-law, Elizabeth Wallace of Coxsackie; nine grandchildren, Carlene, Michela, Adriana and Michael Costello, Adam and Andrew Lammly and Patrick, Kara and Kathryn Kelley; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Edwin K. Lammly, died July 24, 1990.

Burial was in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.

KENNETH WOOD JR.

Kenneth Wesley Wood Jr., 62, of Coxsackie, died suddenly at his home on Friday, July 16, 2004.

Born in Catskill April 16, 1942, he lived his entire life in the Coxsackie-Earlton area and attended Coxsackie-Athens Central School.

As a youth, he enjoyed exploring and fishing in the Hudson River with his father or friends.

Wood worked as a lineman for Runkle Utility, owned and operated Ye Olde Auto Shoppe at the bottom of Mansion Street hill, then was a foreman for 30 years for Conrail. He was anticipating early retirement next year.

Survivors include his sons, Heath Wesley Wood and Chris Allen Wood of Florida; stepson Craig J. Funeral services are today, July 22, 2004, from the W.C. Brady’s Sons Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie.

Burial follows in Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie.

LOUISA MALL

Louisa Mall, 84, formerly of Palenville, died Monday, July 19, 2004 at Eden Park Health Care Center in Catskill, where she had resided since December 2003.

She was born in Puerto Rico February 20, 1920 and was a seamstress.

Survivors include a son, Eugene R. Mall of Cairo.

Her husband, Henry Mall, died February 19, 1980.

Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands. Arrangements were with the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, Catskill.

SANDRA KAZSEK

Sandra R. Kazsek, 56, of West Coxsackie, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at home after a four year illness.

She was born in Kingston August 6, 1947, the daughter of the late William R. and Leona (Hunt) Reilly Sr.

Kazsek and her husband owned and operated Steve’s Meat Market on Route 32, Greenville, and recently opened a new location on Route 9W, Athens, across from the Athens Generating Plant.

She was a member of the First congregational Church of Saugerties.

Survivors include her husband Steve, whom she married on August 6, 1967 on her 20th birthday; three sisters, Maryann Every and Elizabeth Dahl, both of Kingston, and Marjorie Caruso of Jupiter, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were with W.C. Brady’s Sons Inc., Coxsackie.

KENNETH SEIDENSPINNER

Kenneth Seidenspinner, 65, of Earlton, formerly of Norton Hill, died at his home on Monday, July 26, 2004.

He was born in Richmond Hill on September23, 1938, the son of the late Francis and Florence (Schell) Seidenspinner.

He was a self-employed handyman who enjoyed splitting wood and selling it.

Survivors include his sisters, Dolores Krauss of Hackettown, NJ and Ruth Hetzko of Ocklawaha, FL, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Friday, July 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. from Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.

Burial Follows in the Potter Hollow Cemetery.

MAXINE OHLE

Maxine Ohle, 67, of East Durham, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Scranton, PA, May 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Max and Anna (Buchner) Wimmer.

Ohle and her husband Otto owned and operated the O’Neill House in East Durham, a family operated business for more than 50 years. He predeceased her.

She was a member of the Green County Resort Association, the Senior Companion Program of Greene County, Community Action and Our Lady of Knock Council of Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughters, Theresa Boncales and husband Jack of Ridgefield Park, NJ, and Mary McGahan and husband Thomas of East Durham; a son Timothy Ohle and wife Florence of East Durham; and seven grandchildren, Jack, Victoria, Brooke, Stephen, Beverly, Max and Thomas.

Late in life she was reunited with siblings she did not know she had. Also surviving are her sisters, Carol Linton, Joyce Rey, Barbara Stroud, and Peg Seifert, and her brother, John Houston.

Funeral services are today, July 29, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. from Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville. A mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11 a. m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine, East Durham.

Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.

JOHN KUPCHINSKAS

John “Kupcake” Kupchinskas, 87, of Cairo, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Columbia-Green Long Term Care at Catskill.

Born in Brooklyn December 16, 1916, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Sckciezius) Kupchinskas.

Kupchinskas was employed by the A&P Tea Company in Brooklyn. A Greene County resident since 1973, he was later employed as a postal carrier in Cairo before retiring.

He enjoyed fishing for flounder, dancing, pool, poker and the ponies.

Survivors include a son, Jack Kupchinskas of Doylestown, PA; a daughter, Dianna Farino of Sarasota, FL; a daughter-in-law, Gail Kupchinskas of Doylestown, PA; a son-in-law, Frank Farino of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Lillian Baylor of Parsippany, NJ; a stepson, Roland Schroth of Cairo; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Private cremation took place at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, September 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Columbia-Greene Long Term Care, 161 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

CLARA STERRITT

Clara Amanda Virginia Sterritt, 96, formerly of Athens, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at the Adventist Home in Livingston where she had resided since March 2000.

Born in Brooklyn August 31, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Stella (Devine) Stanley.

Sterritt had vacationed in this area with her family for many years before permanently moving to Athens upon her marriage on December 12, 1933.

In her youth she had been a seamstress in an dress factory and a laundress.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Sandra Riley Sterritt of Schodack Landing; six grandchildren, Mark Sterritt of Athens, James L. Sterritt of Pittsfield, MA, Mrs. Dale (Suzanne) Tratnack of Hannacroix, Jeffrey Sterritt of Greenville, Thomas Sterritt of Coxsackie, and Allene Sterritt of Schodack Landing; three brothers, Walter Sterritt of Ithaca, John Sterritt of Lindenhurst and Charles Sterritt of Athens; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband Ernest “Pete” Sterritt, three sisters and a son, James K. Sterritt, died before her.

Burial was in the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

EVA LORD

Eva Blair Lord, 100, of Westerlo, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

Known fondly to many generations in the Westerlo community as “Aunt Eva”, she was born in Danvers, MA, on May 23, 1904, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Hedwidge (Goodreau) Blair, formerly of Quebec, Canada.

Lord grew up in a large family and spent her childhood helping to take care of her five other siblings in Cohoes. After some time, the family relocated to Westerlo, where their father began to operate a dairy farm. It was there that she met and married the late Archie Reynolds Lord.

In 1945 Lord began her career as a cook at the old Westerlo Grade School. It was then she was asked to help for a mere two weeks, which turned into a 27-year culinary adventure. She produced meals that were both nutritious and fun, and children looked forward to tray decorations, holiday food shapes and special desserts that routinely transformed dull into delicious.

Lord was a member of the Westerlo Reformed Church, the Ladies Aid Society, the New York State School Food Service Association and the Hillstown Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a son, Howard F. Lord of Hannacroix; two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.

Burial will be in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow at the Westerlo Dutch Reformed Church.

JOHN GIGANTE

John Esposito Gigante, 76, of Palenville, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston.

He was born in Naples, Italy, on August 6, 1927.

Gigante was employed as the Maitre d’ at the Friar Tuck Inn in Kiskatom for 25 years before retiring in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth C. Gigante; six children, Rhonda Kistinger and Robert Goss of Palenville Daniel Goss of Round top, Randi Zimmerman of New Jersey, Thomas Goss of Haines Falls and Brian Goss of New York City; a brother and sister, Vincent Gigante and Ada Gigante of Naples, Italy; 11 grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A son, Anthony Gigante, died in March 1979.

Burial was in the Palenville Cemetery.

Arrangements were with the Traver and McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill.

GLORIA WOODS

Gloria M. Woods, 79, of New Baltimore, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn, May 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Furino and Emma (Altieri) Fulginiti.

Woods moved to Coxsackie area in 1979 after retiring from Union Carbide of New York City with 34 years of employment.

She was a communicant of St, Mary’s Church of Coxsackie. She enjoyed crafts and gardening.

Survivors include her sister, Marion Dellisanti of Wantagh, LI; a nephew Nicholas Dellisanti of Wantagh; a cousin Richard Altieri of New Jersey; a great-nephew, Nicholas Jr.; a great-niece Kristen; and a great-great-niece Nicole.

Her husband, Robert A. Woods, predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated today, July 29, 2004 at 9:30 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. J. Moyna.

Burial follows in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

GEORGE TRUE JR.

George True Jr., 74, of Round top, died at this home on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Albany September 11, 1929, the son of the late Vivian H. (Bowles) and George A. True Sr.

True was raised at the family boarding house, known as the Round Top House. His family briefly lived in East Hartford, CT, during World War II.

After graduating from Cairo Central School in 1948, he joined the Marine Corps and saw active duty during the Korean Conflict in artillery and line communications. He was honorably discharged in 1952 after obtaining the rank of sergeant.

He was employed by the New York Telephone Company and Hutton Brick Yard before starting with IBM in Kingston in the manufacturing division and later as contractor coordinator.

He was a member of IBM’s Quarter Century Club and retired in 1987 after 31 years of service.

True was a member of the American Legion, Round Top Volunteer fire company and the Cairo Fish and Game Club.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church of Cairo.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy (Mulraney) True; two daughters, Sherry True of Baltimore, MD and Susan True o Catskill; a son, George A. True III, wife Kathryn and children Jonathon and Rowan of Cairo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A sister, Delores Bradley, died previously.

Burial was in Round Top Cemetery.
