Vincent Antoniello

Vincent A. Antoniello, 90, of Cairo, died Wednesday, January 24 at his home after a long illness.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Louis and Jennie (Sarano) Antoniello.
An area resident since 1978, Vincent was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church of Cairo.
He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants.
Vincent retired from the New York City Transit Authority after more than 30 years as a towerman.
Survivors include his daughters, Joanna Oldham and Eileen Antoniello, both of Cairo; two brothers, Anthony of New City and Joseph of Terryville; three sisters, Bena Arryo of Cairo, Carmella DiPierro of the Bronx and Tina Beneveno of Newburgh; grandchildren Brian Casamento of Florida and Lisa Miller of Hudson; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Rose (DeStefano) Antoniello, predeceased him in 1998.
Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.

Doris “Nona” Fancher
Homemaker
Doris “Nana” Fancher, 75, of Grand Gorge, died Saturday 27 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born in Conesville on February 12, 1931, the daughter of the late Chester and Beulah (Dodds) Germond.
Doris was a lifelong homemaker. She loved doing puzzles and taking care of family pictures.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert Fancher; a daughter, Diane Williams (James); two sons, Daniel Fancher (Tami) and Douglas Fancher (Connie); a brother, Russell “Rusty” Germond (Shirley); a sister-in-law, Helen Germond; 10 grnadchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Randy Fancher, granddaughter Marcy Fancher and brother Ira “Roger” Germond.
Funeral services are Saturday, February 3, at 2pm from Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville. Calling precedes services at 1pm.
Spring interment is in the Manorkill Cemetery.

James B. Morgan
Cairo resident
James Benedict Morgan, 72, died Wednesday, January 24 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson after an extended period of illness.
He was born in Hudson June 17, 1934 and had been a longtime resident of the state-operated community residence in Cairo.
He had attended the ARC day program in Schoharie since 1981.
James is survived by many friends.
Interment was in the Cairo Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Buono Funeral Services, Inc., Saugerties.

Dolores Jeffers
Memorial service today
Surrounded by her family, Dolores Jean Jeffers, 59, died peacefully on Saturday, February 3 following a brief illness.
Jeannie was the wife of 30 years to Bruce Jeffers, they having been sweethearts since their senior prom.
Although work was part of Jeannie’s life, she had a true and kind heart, and family and friends were always her priority. She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephew and frequently visited them on their farm. Jeannie was their second mom.
Besides her husband, surviving are her mother, Eileen Papp, sister Debbie (Stan) McCafferty of Greenville, brother John M. (Kim) Papp, mother-in-law Mildred Jeffers and sister-in-law Laraine Chaberski. She also is survived by her nieces and nephews, including Kelly (Justin) Schettini of Georgia, Cindy McCafferty of Rochester, Lori and Justin McCafferty of Greenville, Michael and Christopher Chaberski of New York City and Nicole and Paul Chiarello-Papp of Scotia.
A memorial service and celebration of Jeannie’s life takes place at 11am, today February 8, from the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam.

Webster Jennings
Lifelong carpenter
Webster “Webb” Jennings, 89, of East Durham, formerly of Greenville, died at his home in Sunday, February 4 after a long illness.
Webb was born in Norton Hill on January 27, 1918, the son of the late Aaron and Jean (Farquhar) Jennings.
A lifelong carpenter who retired in 2005, he had also been employed at Shepard Farm. He and his wife Marie had operated the House on the Hill resort.
He was a former member and past president of the Greenville Central School Board of Education, a member of the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church, a life member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Co., a former member of the Westerlo Ambulance Squad and a former member and past master of the James Austin Lodge F&AM.
Webb was an avid Yankees fan and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Marie (Roe) Jennings; a daughter, Jane Crossett (James); a son, Wayne Jennings (Donna); a brother, Russell Jennings; five grandchildren, Kimberly Page (Charles), Mark Jennings (Maria), Michael Biskupich (Romi), Becky Riley (Stephen) and Zachary Crossett; seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Morgan, Natalie, Abigail, Katie, Jack and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, John and Walton Jennings, and two sisters, Dorothy Mahoney and Wilhelmina Yeomans, predeceased him.
Funeral services are today, February 8, at 11am at the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church.

Timothy Canastra
Little League Coach
Timothy Canastra, 48, of Oak Hill, died suddenly at the St. Peter’s Hospital emergency room on Friday, February 9.
He was born in Kingston February 1, 1959, the son of the late Elmer and Patricia Canastra.
Tim was a down to earth New York Giants fan, a fan of NASCAR ad stock car racing, and was active in Go Kart racing.
He also was very active in the Durham Little League, having served as a coach for more than 25 years.
A lover of hard rock, he could be found listening to AC/DC.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah (Lang) Canastra; two sons, Timothy Jr. and Michael Canastra; a daughter, Caitlyn Canastra; two brothers, Elmer Jr. and Anthony Canastra; two sisters, Michelle Post and Colleen Williams and several nieces and nephews.
As to his request, cremation will be at the Albany Rural Cemetery.
Those who desire may contribute in his memory to the Durham Little League.

Marian Duffy
Rensselaerville native
Marian G. Duffy, 69, of Glenmont, died Saturday, February 10 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.
She was born November 7, 1937 in Rensselaerville, the daughter of Grace Filkins of Rensselaerville and the late Lloyd Filkins.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Richard E. Duffy; daughters Karin A. Duffy of Dallas, TX, Laurin M. Sgroi of Fort Worth, TX, and Sharin G. Fadde of Westchester, PA; brothers Ralph, Judson and Richard Filkins; sister Barbara Joslin; and grandchildren Samuel J. and Timothy R. Fadde and Fabriela G. Sgroi.
Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Marion Jamieson
East Durham resident
Marion A. Jamieson, 98, a resident of North Troy, died Saturday, February 10 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT, following a brief illness.
Born in Sunside January 21, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Martha (Andrus) Ruland.
She received her education in a one-room school in Sunside and later attended Albany Business College.
Mrs. Jamieson first married Alan Pagano in New York City in 1934. Mr. Pagano died in 1962. In 1963 she married Joseph Jamieson in New York City. He died in 1978.
Prior to moving to Troy, she lived for many years on Route 81 in East Durham.
Mrs. Jamieson enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching “Jeopardy.”
Survivors include a daughter Dale Allen of Manchester, VT; two sisters, Laura McCarthy of Albany and Vivian Simpson of Cairo; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a sister and brother, Beatrice Stewart and Ralph Ruland Jr.
Memorial services celebrating the life of Marion Jamieson will take place at Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville in the spring.
Burial will take place in the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

Clyde L. Filkins
Army Veteran
Clyde L. Filkins, 87, of Westerlo, died at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany on Saturday February 17.
He was born in Berne July 9, 1919, the son of the late Fred H. and Nettie F. (Skinner) Filkins.
Clyde was a retired rural postal carrier, having worked out of the Westerlo Post Office.
He served in the Army during World War II in the Ardennes,, Rhineland and Central Europe and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
Clyde was a prisoner of war from 1944 to 1945. He was an active member of the American Ex POW Association. He also was a carter member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Co. and a former member of the Town of Westerlo Rescue Squad.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret “Peg” (Storm) Filkins, and his nieces and nephews, Janice (Fred) Bassler of Berne, Robert (Roberta) LeBuis of Barneveld, Marlene (Dennis) Boomhower of Westerlo, Donald (Donna) LeBuis of Mokena, IL, Charis (Dennis) Cummings of Wilton, Dennis LeBuis of Selkirk, Lee Crosier and Raymond (Karen) Storm of East Berne and Richard (Wendy) Storm of Clarksville; and several grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his sister, Doris LeBuis, and a niece, Diane (Merritt) Chamberlin.
Spring interment with military honors is in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.

Irene Leanza
Full time mother
Irene Leanza, 79, of South Westerlo, died Thursday, February 15 at Kaaterskill Care Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Catskill.
She was born in Queens August 28, 1927, the daughter of the late James and Frances (Becker) Brooks.
Irene had many fond memories especially of growing up on Hook Creek, which now lies beneath JFK Airport.
After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, she worked for the Brooklyn Museum until she became a full time housewife and mother.
Her greatest joys were her family and friends, followed by her pets, gardening, nature watching, music and travel.
She was the mother of Robert, Kenneth and Audrey Leanza, the grandmother of Wendy, Christopher, Adam and Michael Leanza, and sister of Lynn Wolf.
Her husband, Anthony Leanza, twins Mary and Joseph, and a sister, Margaret Hall, predeceased her.
Spring interment is in the Greenville Cemetery.

Carole L. Wickham
Always on the go
Carole L. Wickham, 72, of Hannacroix, died Monday, February 19 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Delmar.
She was born in the Bronx December 2, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Werner) O’Neill.
Always on the go, she as a charter member of the Albany County and Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Auxiliaries, vice president of the member of the Greenville Golden Years, and a member of the Cairo Golden Age Group and the Ravena Senior Bowling League.
Surviving are a son, Gerard “Jerry” Wickham (Donna) of Hannacroix; two daughters, Karen Ferguson (Michael) of Westerlo and Denise Rainis (Paul) of Dudee; two brothers, John O’Neill (Blanche) of Annapolis, MD, and Robert O’Neill (Maryanne) of Greenville; a sister, Patricia Caldwell (Roger) of Arizona; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Henry Wickham, and her significant other, Peter Coons, predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated today, February 22, at 11am at St. John the Baptist Church.
Spring interment is in the Greenville Cemetery.

William Woodcock
CSX employee
William H. Woodcock, 58, of Cornwallville, died suddenly Saturday, February 17 after a brief illness.
Born in Englewood, NJ, December 22, 1948, he was the son of William E. Woodcock and the late Mary Caroline (Wall) Woodcock.
An area resident for 23 years, Mr. Woodcock was employed by the CSX Railroad Transportation Co.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast.
Besides his father, surviving are his wife, Kathleen V. (Bauer) Woodcock, with whom he was to celebrate his 35th wedding anniversary on February 20; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Matthew and Monica Woodcock of Illinois, Timothy Woodcock of Fort Plain, and Daniel and Brian Woodcock of Cornwallville; a sister, Bonnie Albanti of New Jersey; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Ericn.
Calling hours are Saturday, February 24 from 2 to 4 pm at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo.
Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands.
