Edward Adamo 

Edward A. Adamo, 77, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, died Sunday, April 10.

Born and raised in Coxsackie, he was the son of the late Anthony and Theresa (Lucia) Adamo

He was a resident of Egg Harbor Township and Galloway, NJ, for the past 22 years.

Adamo served in the Marine Corps, attended State Teachers’ College in Albany and received his doctorate from Columbia University in New York City.

He was a retired superintendent of schools in Marcellus. After retirement, he owned and operated the Fischer Plantscaping business.

He was a Rotarian, a volunteer with the local Red Cross, Hospital and soup Kitchen, and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his children, Daniel Adamo and wife Susan of Houston, TX, Denise Savage of Madison, CT, and Amy Bodnar and husband James of Medford, NJ; a brother, Joseph Adamo and wife Marilyn of Xenia, OH; a sister, Drusiana “Dolly” Mansfield and husband George of Coxsackie; a granddaughter, Shannon Savage of San Francisco, CA; and seven nieces and nephews.

Burial was in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery, Coxsackie.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 290 Asbury Road, Egg Harbor Township, NJ  08234.

Helen Andresen

Helen Dorothy Andresen, 82, died Monday, April 18 at her home in Englewood, FL.

She was born March 2, 1923 in the Bronx to Nicholas and Mary Miletti.

She became a resident of Greenville after her marriage on May 27, 1945 to Peter Andresen, who survives her. They moved to Englewood, FL, from Greenville in 1984.

Andresen was a wife and mother who was active in many activities, including serving as a Eucharistic minister and membership in the Rosary Altar Society of St. John the Baptist Church of Greenville.

She also was a member of the Moose Lodge in Englewood, FL.

Besides her husband, survivors include her children, Kenneth, Diane and Linda; brothers James and Joseph Miletti; and grandchildren Gina, Eric, Jessica, Katie, Daniel, Marie, Jennifer, Catherine and Stephen

A memorial service is being planned at St. Raphael’s Church in Englewood, FL, on Friday, May 27.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville. Interment will follow immediately in the Greenville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are requested to the Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL  34248.

Christopher Taylor

Christopher M. Taylor, 41, of Acra died Monday, April 25 at his residence.

He was born in Louisville, KY, April 14, 1964, the son of Henry A. Taylor III of Manchester, ME, and Marsha J. (Davis) Taylor of Alabama.

Taylor had been an area resident for two years and was a chef at Falvey’s Restaurant, East Windham. He was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.

Taylor enjoyed fly-fishing, the outdoors and camping. He also was a musician.

Besides his parents, survivors include his wife, Maureen Taylor of Saugerties; a brother, Stephen Taylor of Georgia; and a sister, Susan Johnson of Georgia.

Private cremation services took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands. A memorial service will be announced.

Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

Harriet Langheinrich

Harriet Langheinrich, 86, formerly of Round Top, died Monday, May 2 at Eden Park Health Center in Catskill.

Born in Bayone, NJ, December 26, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Theresa (Schmidt) Joralemon.

Langheinrich had been an area resident for more than 30 years and attended the Mountain Christian Church. She was very active in the Round Top Crafts Group, crocheting lap pads for Community Hospice patients.

Her Survivors include three sons, Gary and Kenneth Langheinrich, both of New Jersey, and Raymond Langheinrich of Ilion, and her friends, the Perella family.

Calling hours are Friday, May 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. from Richards Funeral Home, Bross Street, Cairo.

Funeral Services are Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pat Perella officiating.

She will be buried next to her late husband Rudolf in the Catskill Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions my be made to Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill  12414.

Elizabeth Woodward

Elizabeth M. Woodward, 77, of Keene, NH, died Thursday, April 28, in Jaffery, NH.

Born in Amsterdam November 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Opalka) Lyczko.

Prior to her retirement, Woodward was a bank teller for the Union Federated Bank.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Novitiate in Round Top.

She is survived by her husband, William G. Woodward of Keene, NH.

Burial was in the family plot at the St. Joseph’s Novitiate Church grounds.

Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

Foster Kisselburg

Foster G. Kisselburg, 69, of Athens, died at Community Hospice of Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson on Saturday, May 7.

He was born July 12, 1935 in Catskill, the son of the late Glenwood and Violet (Edwards) Kisselburg.

A lifelong Athens resident, he was employed in the housekeeping department of Greene County Memorial Hospital until it closed, and then worked at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Kisselburg was a member of the First Baptist Church of Catskill and was a volunteer at the Rivertown Senior Center in Athens.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Jeune) Kisselburg; two daughters, Austine Caniano of Catskill and Anna Kisselburg of Coxsackie; two sisters, Dawn Capwell of Oregon and Joy Reyes of Florida; and three grandchildren, Antonio Caniano, and Indie and Nadia Newman.

Interment will be in the Catskill Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 20 West Main Street, Catskill 12414.

Arrangements were with Sopris Funeral Home, Coxsackie.

Leopold Klemke Sr.

Leopold Klemke Sr., 68, of Round Top, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, May 5.

Born in Ukraine, Russia on July 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Rinehaldt Klemke.

Klemke became a U.S. citizen at age 16 and had been a resident of Round Top for 20 years. He retired as a master sergeant with the Air Force Reserve after 24 years of service, including in Vietnam.

Locally, he was well known as a dry wall contractor. He also was a member of the Cairo American Legion Post #983.

Besides his mother, survivors include his son, Leo Klemke Jr. of Acra; a daughter, Diane Klemke of Hopewell Junction; two brothers, Herbert Lenz of Purling and Irwin Klemke of Saugerties; four sisters, Ingret Cassimore of Glenville, Herta Lenz of Vermont, Margaret Lenz of Cairo and Helga Planthaber of Kingston; four grandchildren, Justin Klemke, Chez Brown and Krista and Jack Klemke; and his companion, Anneliese Oberlander of Kingston.

Burial with full military honors took place in the Round Top Cemetery.

Ernest Lembke

Ernest Sutton Lembke, 65, of Catskill, died Thursday, May 5 at Albany Medical Center, where he had been a patient since April 26.

Born in South Cairo on November 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Henry and Ellen Sutton Lembke.

Lembke was a 1957 graduate of Catskill High School. He enlisted in the Navy on April 12, 1962. He was stationed at the Helasron 11 NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island during the Bay of Pigs/Cuban missile crisis until his discharge on September 12, 1963.

He owned and operated two garages, L&T Garage and Ernie’s Engine Shop, prior to his most recent employment as a mechanic for the Town of Catskill Highway Department.

Lembke was a member of the Kiskatom Reformed Church and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, the former Nina Hauver, who he married on June 28, 1970; a son, Matthew Lembke of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Allissa Lembke of Greenville; and a daughter, Dale (Shari) Patterson of Gillette, WY.

Burial was in the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, Catskill.

Anthony Brandone

Anthony J. “Ace” Brandone, 88, of Catskill, died Monday, May 2 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, where he had been a patient.

He was born in Catskill August 20, 1916, the son of the late Bonaventura and Angelina (Changes) Brandone.

Brandone was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Academy and was inducted into the Army on March 9, 1942. He served with the 3051st Quartermaster Salvage Collecting Company for three hears, earning the rank of corporal. He received the EAME Medal and American Theater Ribbon.

He was employed as a repairman for Lehigh Portland Cement Co. until his retirement.

He was an active member of the Catskill Elks Lodge, a longtime member of Citizens Hose Co. #5, served on the Catskill Rescue Squad/Citizens Hose Rescue Squad, and was a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church.

Survivors include his sons, John Brandone of Selkirk and Anthony Brandone of Ballston Lake; a brother, John Brandone of South Cairo; four granddaughters, Mrs. Tim (Nora) Hoefer of Waterford, Amanda Brandone of Newark, DE, Sarah Brandone of Selkirk and Michelle Brandone of Portland, OR; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Ada M. Gaeto Brandone, predeceased him on July 25, 1992. Two sisters, Margaret DeBenedictus and Nina Smith, also died before him.

Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Morton Tryon

Morton D. Tryon, 81, of New Baltimore, died Tuesday, May 3 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in Coeymans Hollow and lived in the area all his life.

Tryon was an Army veteran who served during World War II. He retired in 1985 after 20 years of service with Penn Truck Lines.

He was a life member and past commodore of the Coxsackie Yacht Club and was a member of the Flying Knights and the Greene County Aero Modelers.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Stacey Rivenburg Tryhon; a daughter, Sharon (Scott) Davis of Florida; his stepsons, Frederick Rivenburg of Coxsackie, Donald Rivenburg of Climax and Richard Rivenburg of Manhattan; a niece, lyn Kmieciak of North Carolina; and five grand-children.

Burial was in the Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Edward Hillicoss

Edward Joseph Hillicoss, 59, of Greenville, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, May 10.

He was born in Catskill February 19, 1946, the son of Evah (Deyo) Mack and the late Alfred Hillicoss.

Hillicoss served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1971.

A truck driver and member of Teamsters Local @294, he had been employed by Carman Trucking in Albany.

He was noted for his working on family genealogy. He loved outdoor work.

Besides his mother, surviving are his wife, Barbara (Goff) Hillicoss; his stepfather, Philip; his stepmother, Ingeborg Hillicoss; a daughter, Sherry Ann McGuinness and husband Tom of Greenville; two sons, Wayne Lee Hillicoss (USAF) and wife Heather of Oklahoma City, OK, and Mark H. Jenson II (USAF) and his wife Michelle of Honolulu, HI; hi brothers and sisters, Allen Hillicoss, Susan Hauck, Carol Wilsey, Sandy, Sidney, and Sharon Goff, Phyllis Moorehouse, and Danny and Linday Mack; and his grandchildren, Thomas, Ryan, Taylor and Kaitlin McGinness, Mark H. Jenson III and Amber Lee Jenson.

A sister, Shirley Hillicoss, died before him.

As to his wishes, he was cremated at the Albany Rural Cemetery. Funeral services took place at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

Gertrude Focken

Gertrude (Juckett) Focken, age 100, died at The Teresian House in Albany on Sunday, May 15.

She was born December 25, 1904 in Ossining, the daughter of Beryl Juckett.

A lifelong resident of Ossining until March 2004, she was 40 years with New York Telephone management, and was a faithful volunteer with Phelps Memorial Hospital in Tarrytown.

Her husband, Harold Focken, predeceased her in the mid 1970s.

Survivors include her daughter, Deanna Hutchby of Greenville; a niece, Audrey Longo of Fishkill; a granddaughter, Kim Bailey of Colorado; a grandson, Robert Focken of Greenville; and two great-grandsons of Colorado and two great-granddaughters of Greenville.

Burial was in Dale Cemetery, Ossining.

Memorial donations may be made to The Teresian House.

Arrangements were with Leach and Thomas, Ossining.

Joseph Flach

Joseph J. Flach, 87, of Greenville, died Saturday, May 14 at his home.

Born in Brooklyn September 4, 1917, he was the son of the late Karl and Anna (Lammly) Flach.

From three years of age, he grew up on the family farm in Alcove. As a teenager, he learned the barbering trade in Greenville. He then became a Class A machinist and during World War II, worked at the General Electric defense plant in Schenectady.

He opened the Greenville Barber Shop in 1948 and continued there until May 2004.

Flach was an avid hunter and bowler, and played in the Kingsmen Trio Band. He was seen playing at the Greenville Old Timers party for years.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth (Schwebler) Flach; two sons, Kenneth Flach and wife Rose, and Philip Flach and wife Barbara; a daughter, Joyce Mueller and husband Ron; a brother, Fred Flach; three sisters, Rose Klob, Louise Seaburg and Elizabeth Harris; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Lessmueller and Ida Plass, and a brother, the Rev, Charles Flach.

Calling hours are today, May 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Alcove Cemetery.

Bernard Landau

Bernard D. Landau, 74, died Friday, May 6 at home in Locust Valley in his wife Deborah’s arms.

He was born November 20, 1930 and was a graduate of Brooklyn College and Brooklyn Law School who pioneered the synthesis of law with computerization.

He was a founding senior partner of Hayt, Hayt and Landau, with 35 offices in eight states. He also was chairman and CEO of Professional Data Services. The two combined entities employed more than 1,600 people.

Landau spawned and monitored many other professionals and executives into their own successful careers.

Besides his wife, survivors include his children, Terri, Lauren and Brian; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Lindsay, Allysa, Evan and Spencer; in-laws Diane (Durnin) Doyle of East Durham; Patricia Durnin, Denise Durnin and Matthew Durnin of Brooklyn, James Durnin of Raleigh, NC, Thomas Durnin of Hazlet, NJ, and James and Catherine Durnin of Brooklyn and Hugh Doyle; and Nephews James, Thomas and Joseph Reynolds.

Arrangements were with Fairchild Sons Inc., Manhasset.

Gertrude Drache

Gertrude M. Drache, 78, of Catskill, died Saturday, May 14 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Germany December 26, 1926, she was the daughter of Henry and Maria (Spange) Drache.

Drache moved to the U.S. at age 2 ½ and made her home in Brooklyn. She moved to Catskill in 1986 and retired from the New York Telephone Co. after 40 years of service.

While living in Catskill, she became a member of the Secular Franciscan Order.

She was a graduate of Midwood High School in Brooklyn and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her nieces, Mrs. Eugene (Ingeborg (Spange) Van Gaasbeck and family of New Baltimore and Mrs. Alfred (Christel Spange) Schnare and family of Coxsackie; several great-nieces and nephews; and two dear friends, Mary Leyden and Patricia Berg.

Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematory, Menands.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were with W.C. Brady’s Sons Inc. Funeral Home, Coxsackie.

Mary Ladue

Mary A. Krzykowski Ladue, 64, of Coxsackie, died Thursday, May 12 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

Survivors include her husband, Walter H. Ladue; a daughter, Deborah Krzykowski of West Coxsackie; a son, Walter A. Krzykowski of Coxsackie; a brother, John Farinaccio; and two grandchildren, Evelyn Walker and Allen Krzykowski.

Her first husband, Walter Krzykowski, died before her.

Burial was in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

John Piccola Sr.

John Piccola Sr., 78 of Acra, died Tuesday, May 10 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born in Brooklyn April 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Ceccelia (Love) Piccola.

Piccola served in both the Army and the Merchant Marines during World War II.

He was an employee of Consolidated Edison of New York for 30 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, fishing, bird watching and all sports.

Survivors include his wife, Linda (Haller) Piccola; two sons, John D. Piccola Jr. and wife Barbara of Athens and Robert Piccola and wife Cindee of Ghent; a daughter, Marie Piccola and fiancé Jerry of Earlton; two brothers, Frank Piccola and wife Grace of Middle Island and Edward Piccola of Richmond Hill; two sisters, Joan Kearny of Queens and Lorraine Gallo and husband Lou of Mr. Arlington, NJ; a stepson, Albert M. Barbato and wife Maureen of Acra; a stepdaughter, Tammy L. Barbato of Acra; three grandchildren, Lori Palencia and husband Will, Robert Piccola and Alyssa Barbato, a great-granddaughter, Madison Palencia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Piccola, and a son, Michael Piccola.

Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.

Lottie Skula

Lottie P. Skula, 91 of Greenville, died Sunday, May 15 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Dickson City, PA, on June 27, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Blayda) Florek.

Survivors include her sons, Nicholas Skula of Farmingdale and Terry Skula of West Palm Beach, FL; two daughters, Carol Coons and June Channing, both of Surprise; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her husband, John N. Skula Jr; a son, James Skula; and nine brothers and sisters predeceased her.

Interment was in the Greenville Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

Alma Morrill

Alma V. (Bishop) Morrill, 76, of Cairo, died Thrusday, May 12 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Leeds, March 17, 1929, she was the daughter of Roland and Olive (Hamm) Bishop.

Morrill was a lifetime resident of Bross Street, Cairo. She graduated from Cairo Central School in 1947, where she participated in intramural sports and was elected the first female president of the Student Council.

After graduation she was employed by the Cairo Diner, a family owned business, from 1939 to 1953. In 1953 she was employed by the First National Bank of Cairo, which ultimately became the present day Bank of America. It was here she held the positions of teller, head teller and finally retired as secretary in 1974. At that time, she joined the firm of Morrill Associates, Professional Surveyors, as bookkeeper and secretary. She remained there until 1980, when she became the personal legal secretary of Earnest Puglisi, a Cairo attorney.

Morrill was a lifetime member of the Cairo Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harold P. Morrill; a daughter, Margaret Stauble of Catskill; a granddaughter, Jennifer Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Taylor Anderson of Cobleskill.

Her sister, Helen Mongardi, predeceased her on October 29, 1969.

Interment was in the Cairo Cemetery.

Joyce Morehouse

Joyce A. Morehouse, 44, of Hudson, died suddenly on May 16 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

She was born in Catskill February 22, 1961, the daughter of Marlene (Odenthal) Case and the late Herbert A. Helmedach.

Besides her mother, survivors include her stepfather, Lawrence, stepmother Lorrine Helmedach; two sons, Joshua and Jeremiah Case; two sisters, Tina Sisson and Dawn Utter; and five stepsisters, Patricia Lee, Diane Davis, Brenda Heath, Ann Berryann and Lorinda Burnhan and fiancé Peter Smith; three grandchildren, Jayda, Gabriel and Kameron Case; and two step-grandchildren, Brady and Hope.

She was predeceased by sons Jacob and Jamie Helmdach, and a brother, Herbert Helmdach.

Funeral services are today, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. from Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 route 81, Greenville,  A mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Greenville. Burial is in the Greenville Cemetery.

Margaret Proper

Margaret Ann Bray Proper, 64, of Valatie, died Saturday, May 14 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

She was born in Catskill November 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Josephine (Picardi) Bray.

Survivors include two sons, John Proper of South Cairo and Frank Proper of Kiskatom; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Proper of Florida; two sisters, Rose Bray and Ruth Stott of Catskill; a grandson, Frank Proper; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Frank Proper predeceased her on July 9, 1996.

Private cremation took place at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.

Arrangements were with Traver and McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill.

Michael McKinley

Michael J. McKinley, 17, of Cairo, died Saturday, May 21 from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident in Greenville.

He was born in Glen Cove on November 2, 1987, the son of Robert McKinley of Selden and Sarah (Keenan) Caprio of Cairo.

Michael was a senior at Cairo-Durham High School and would have graduated this June.

He loved art, hiking, dirt bike riding and the outdoors. He planned to pursue a career as an artist.

Besides his parents, survivors include his stepfather, David Caprio of Cairo, his maternal grandparents, Sarah and Frank Keenan of Durham; paternal grandparents JoAnn and Robert McKinley of Rocky Point; a brother, Robert McKinley of Durham; a sister, Danielle Caprio of Cairo; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Interment was in Greenville Cemetery.

Donations in Michael’s memory may be mad to the Make A Wish Foundation of Northeast New York, 950 New Loudon Road, Suite 280, Latham 12110.

Arrangements were with Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

Paul Sutter

Paul J. Sutter, 57, of Stoneham, MA, formerly of Cairo, died Saturday, May 21 in Boston, MA.

He was born in Catskill, the son of Paul and Ruth (Volker) Sutter Sr.

Sutter graduated from Cairo High School in 1965 and fro the Bentley College in Waltham, MA, in 1969. He moved to the Cairo area from Stoneham in 1969.

He was employed by The Packard Development Corp in Newton, MA, as an accountant. His hobbies included gardening. He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Church in Stoneham.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Therese M. (Gaglione) Sutter; two sisters, Patricia Sutter of Freehold and Eileen Sutter Ferrier of Earlton; a niece, Michelle Altieri and husband Vincent of Saugerties; a great-niece, Ashley of Saugerties; a nephew, Jeffrey Ferrier and wife Jerilynne of Earlton; a sister-in-law, Donna Gaglione of Connecticut; father-in-law Sam Gaglione of Clifton Park; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated today, May 26, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church of Cairo by the Rev. Jeremiah Nunan.

Interment follows in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. 

Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

William Baldwin

William L. Baldwin, 68, of New Baltimore died at his home on Saturday, May 21.

He was raised in New Baltimore and after 33 years in New Jersey, returned home.  He was the son of the late James and Emma Lou Baldwin.

Baldwin was an Army veteran who served in the European Theater and during the Korean War.

He retired in 1992 after many years of service as a chemical engineer with Devro Inc., a division of Johnson and Johnson in New Jersey.

He had been a member and captain of the Martinsville Rescue Squad and Fire Co., past master of Solomon’s Lodge No. 46, member and past high priest of Keystone Chapter No. 25 an a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, all in New Jersey. Locally he was a member of the Cornell Hook and Ladder Co. of New Baltimore and the Coxsackie Ark Lodge No. 48, and very active member of the New Baltimore Reformed Church. He also volunteered for many organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Helga Baldwin; children Karl J. (Patricia) Baldwin of New Jersey, Sylvia U. (Paul) Hollman of Connecticut and Heidi L. (Mark) Carpenter of West Seneca; a brother, James H. Baldwin Jr. of Colorado; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; an uncle, Clifford Baldwin of New Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment was in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery.
