Albert Baron, 88, of Norton Hill, died at Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill on Tuesday, June 1, 2004.

He was born in New Bedford, MA, August 27, 1915.

Barton had worked for the Bond bakery in Albany and also worked his farm. He was a well known nurseryman in the Greenville, Norton Hill and Durham area.

He was a former member of the James Austin Lodge F&AM.

Survivors include his son, James Baron and wife Arlene of Norton Hill; his daughter Irma Roe of Catskill; three grandchildren, James Baron, Jr., John Baron and wife Lora and Robin Baron and wife Joni; and great-grandchildren Jared and Joshua Roe.

His wife Ethel, two sisters and a brother predeceased him.

Cremation took place in the Albany Rural Cemetery and services at the convenience of the family.

Those who wish may make donations in his memory to Durham Ambulance Squad.

Timothy J. Boertlein, 56, of Greenville, died at his home Friday, June 4, 2004, with his family by his side.

Born in Flushing September 15, 1947, he was the son of Ann (Ferry) Boertlein and the late Julius Boertlein.

Before his ill health, Boertlein was a special investigator for various state, federal and private agencies.

Besides his mother, survivors include his wife, Janet (VonBurgsdorff) Boertlein; stepdaughter Karen Carman and husband Neil; stepson Robert Rotzol and wife Stacy; a brother William Boertlein and wife Patricia; two sisters Margaret Taubes and Dr. Eve Boertlein; step grandchildren Justin Carman and Faye Rotzol; nephews Thomas Taubes and wife Sherri and Jeremy Taubes; a niece, Julie Taubes; and an uncle Patrick Murphy.

A brother, Eugene Boertlein, predeceased him.

Burial is in the Greenville Cemetery.

JUNE CROSS

June F. Cross, 84, of Athens, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at her home after a long illness.

Born in Anniston, AL, June 21, 1920 she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Roberts) Pruitt.

Cross had been an area resident since 1983.

She was a member of the Athens Garden Club and the 10 O’clock Crafters, and a past member of the Athens Senior Citizens.

Survivors include had son, James O. Cross of North Carolina; five daughters, Jean Craft of Kentucky, Virginia Sulkey, Margaret Proper and Mary Sulkey all of Athens, and Gail Malloy of Coxsackie; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Her husband, Otis Cross, predeceased her in 1990.

Burial is in the New Athens Rural Cemetery.

PATRICIA WILSON

Patricia Wilson, 58, of Conesville, died at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill on Friday, June 4, 2004.

She was born in Catskill, October 8, 1945.

When she was younger, Wilson worked for the Windham Telephone Company and then became a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Cobleskill Hospital and Eden Park Nursing Home.

Survivors include two sons, Samuel Brandow of Middleburgh and Darcy Brandow and wife Laska of Colorado; two sisters, Rhonda Diamond and Dolores Culjak; foster mother Lorna Van Hoesen; grandson Marcus Brandow; and caregivers George and Laura Edwards.

Burial was in the Manorkill Cemetery.

Constance Denton, 76, of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 7, 2004 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn following a prolonged illness.

Born in New York City June 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William and Constance (Windus) Futterer.

Denton had worked for the state Office of Equalization and Assessment prior to her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo.

Survivors include her son, Mark Denton, SR. and wife Barbara of Greenville; daughters Lois Kudlak of Greenville and Cheryl Horner and husband Bruce of Islip; two sisters, Dorothy Stey and Barbara Parker; grandchildren Thomas Denton, Mark Denton, Jr., Christine Kudlak Dean, Jeanette Hart and David Kudlak; and great-grandchildren Crystal and Brittney Denton, Mark W. and William Denton, Wayne Allen and Michael Everett and Dean and Mariah Hart.

Her husband of 48 years, Ralph Denton, brothers Arnold and William Futterer and son-in-law Michael Kudlak, predeceased her.

Funeral services with the Rev. Donald Lyon officiating are Friday, June 11, 2004, at 11 a. m. at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo. Calling precedes the service at 10 a.m. at the church.

Burial is in the Greenville Cemetery.

MARIE HILSCHER

Marie Hilscher, 90, of Shirley and East Taghkanic, died Thursday, June3, 2004.

Born in Astoria June 9, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Brandisky) Salmon.

Hilscher worked at the Woolworth’s on 14^th Street in Manhattan before starting a family. She was a lifelong practitioner of self-improvement trough reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Joan Weisner and husband Richard of Shirley, and their children Liam, Johnathon and Timothy; grandchildren Ted Hilscher of Hannacroix, William Hilscher of East Taghkanic and Catherine Hilscher of Manchester, NH; daughter-in-law Jeanette Hilscher of Claverack; and great-grandchildren Ashley, Laura, Jack and Cole Hilscher.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John T. Hilscher, son John T. Hilscher, Jr., daughter Marie Hilscher and brothers Joseph “Buddy” and Richard Salmon.

Burial was in the family cemetery in East Taghkanic.

Ethel A. Rabeler, 90, of Acra, died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Eden Park Health Care Center in Catskill, where she had been a patient since December 8, 2003.

She was born May 30, 1914, the daughter of the late Charles and Amanda (Johnson) Mickelson.

Rabeler had been an area resident since 1986. She was the past member of the Cairo Golden Age Club and enjoyed swimming, playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include her daughter, Arlene Cody of Acra; three grandchildren, Michael Cody and wife Dawn, Steven Cody and wife Jeanmarie, and Jennifer Anaya and husband Richard; and three great-grandchildren, Steven Cody and Tristan and Freddie Anaya.

Burial was in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale.

Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

LILLIAN DREGER

Lillian H. Dreger, 82, of South Cairo, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Brooklyn July 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Caroline (Buschbaum) and Frank John Haase.

Dreger had been a longtime resident of Greene County, living in Athens, Round Top and most recently South Cairo.

She graduated from Central School for Practical Nurses, Welfare Island, at the age of 46 on October 24, 1967 and was a retired licensed practical nurse. She worked at Greene County Memorial Hospital before it closed.

Dreger was active as Red Cross Grey Lady, nurse’s aide and as an emergency medical technician with Richards Ambulance Service.

She also was active in church, sang in the choir and was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism Inc. Dreger also enjoyed traveling, photography, bingo, the computer and taking care of stray animals.

Survivors include her daughter, Francis C. Dreger and husband Edward E. Wilson of Cairo; her son, Walter A. Dreger and wife Catherine of Leeds; Theodore Dreger of Long Island; Emma Brooks and Henry Haase of Catskill; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Walter Stanley Dreger, who died January 19, 2003, sister Mildred Totillo and brothers Albert and Frank Haase.

Cremation was private and burial will take place in the Round Top Cemetery.

GOLDIE KROPP

Goldie Ann Kropp, 84, of Rensselaerville, died Tuesday, June 8 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, Albany.

She was born in Ogase Lake December 29, 1919, the daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth “Badies” Molnar.

She graduated from Berne-Knox Central School in 1936.

She was the widow of John Kropp, who she ran a dairy farm with for many years. For the last 32 years she worked for Hickory Hill.

Kropp was an extremely active member of the Hiawatha Grange for 60 years, a charter member of the Rensselaerville Ambulance Squad and a charter member of the Rensselaerville Ladies Battalion, of which she served as secretary for many years until her illness earlier this year.

She formerly was a defensive driving instructor for the certified points reduction course for New York State.

Survivors include her son, Thomas J. Kropp and wife Donna of Renssellaerville; her sisters, Helen Stradley of College Station, TX and Irene Bodi and husband Michael of East Greenbush; a brother, Joseph Farkas, Jr., and wife Vera of Westerlo; a grandson, Jeremy Kropp of Albany; a granddaughter, Jaclyn Kropp of Ithaca; and many nieces and nephews.

A sister, Margaret Gardiner, died before her.

Burial was in the Rensselaerville Cemetery.

REV. HAROLD PAGE

The Rev. Harold G. Page, 75, of Surprise, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Rockport, ME, June 25, 1928, he was the son of the late Raymond B. and Laura E. “Libby” Page.

Page was a minister for 31 years at the Medway Congregational Christian Church until his retirement on November 1, 1998.

He was chaplain of the Medway-Grapeville Volunteer Fire Company for 30 years and a member of the fire police for 19 years.

Survivors include his daughters; Melissa Dumont and Lucinda Fava; brother-in-law David McIntosh; grandsons Kenneth and Freddy Fava; granddaughters Amanda and Michele Dumont; and great-grandchildren Alexis, Mya and Tristen.

His wife Gertrude (McIntosh) Page died in 1991.

As to his wishes, Rev. Page was cremated and interred in the Medway Christian Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Medway-Grapeville Volunteer Fire Company.

FRANCES LEDDA

Frances Ledda, 93, of Cornwallville, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson after a long illness.

Born in Brooklyn December 5, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Nicoline (Perino) Lascuito.

Ledda had been an area resident since 1949. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and loved the mountains, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Angelo of Cornwallville, Salvatore of Queens and Frank of Oakland, CA; two daughters, Carmella Ohman of Modesto, CA, and Nicoline Dyer of Cornwallville; a brother, Michael Lascuito of the Bronx; two sisters, Rose Nanni of the Bronx and Caroline Luccarele; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Frank Ledda, died October 10, 1992.

Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands.

Arrangements were with the Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

CLIFFORD HAHN, JR.

Clifford J. Hahn, Jr., 41, of Coxsackie’s died suddenly Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Ellis Hospital.

He was born in Queens December 28, 1962, the son of Patricia M. (O’Toole) Hahn of Coxsackie and the late Clifford Hahn, Sr.

Hahn had established his own painting company. His hobbies included fishing, automotive restoration and painting.

Besides his mother, survivors include his wife Lori (Zion) Hahn and daughter Melissa Hahn of Nassau; two sisters, Carolyn Hahn of Catskill and Mrs. Joseph (Patricia) McDowell of Coxsackie; and a niece, Cherelyn Barnard of Kingston.

A mass of Christian Burial is celebrated today, June 17, 2004, at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Coxsackie by the Rev. John Moyna, pastor.

Private cremation will take place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands.

Arrangements were with W.C. Brady’s Sons Funeral Home, Coxsackie.

Pearl Mackey Haskins, 104, of Medusa died at her home Tuesday, June 22, 2004.

She was born in Preston Hollow March 18, 1900, the daughter of the late Austin C. and Bertie (White) Mackey.

Haskins was baptized in 1915 when Rev. Hook was the minister at the Christian Church, later called the Christian Congregationalist and now the United Church of Christ. She was the church organist when the Rev. Simon Lyman was minister for several years.

She was a member of the Ladies Fellowship of the Church; past president of the Rebecca Lodge, having worked her way through the Chairs; a member of the Eastern Star Lodge of Oak Hill for many years; a charter member of the Clark White American Legion Post #589 Auxiliary; the Clematis Club; the Potter Hollow Grange; and the Medusa Volunteer Fire co. Auxiliary.

Haskins taught in many district schools before going to the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk district in 1954, retiring from there in 1965.

She and her husband Henry Haskins sold their farm and stock in 1965 due to Henry’s ill health. They spent winters in Florida and summers in the north after the sale of their farm until Henry’s death in 1977. In 1981 Pearl purchased the Ralph Disbrow property in Medusa, where she lived until her death.

Survivors include her niece, Elizabeth Jennings of Syracuse; a nephew, Lawrence Mackey of Glenmont; and her nephew Malcolm Bard’s widow, Virginia Bard of Niskayuna.

A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Warren Beeman at the United Church of Christ in Medusa on Sunday, June 27, 2004, at 1 p.m. A dinner immediately follows the service at the Medusa firehouse, to which relatives and friends are invited.

As to her wishes, she has made an anatomical donation to Albany Medical College.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ in Medusa.

MARGARET DEBENEDICTUS

Margaret DeBenedictus, 88, a lifelong resident of Catskill, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Catskill July 12, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Bonaventure and Angelina (changes) Brandone.

DeBenedictus was a registered nurse for many years before retiring from Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church of Catskill.

Survivors include her son, Stephen DeBenedictus of Mount Vernon; brothers Anthony Brandone of Catskill and John Brandone of South Cairo; granddaughter Allisha Tedesco and husband Ted of St. Petersburg, FL; great-grandsons Nicholas and Vincent Tedesco of St, Petersburg, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her husband, Salvatore DeBenedictus, and sisters Nina Smith and Philomena Brandone, died before her.

Burial was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.

Arrangements were with Traver and McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill.

FRANCIS SARACIONE

Francis J. Saracione, 66, of Hannacroix, died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at his residence after a long illness.

Born in the Bronx January 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Louis C. and Theresa C. (Bastone) Saracione.

Saracione served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin Association Battleship BB64 in Korea from 1955 to 1958.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church of Coxsackie and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1094 of Ravena.

He was an iron worker for New York City Local #361 from 1963 to 1983. He also was a wood crafter and in his later years he owned and operated Frank’s Hot Dogs in Hannacroix from 1994 to 2004.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Grace E. (Walsh) Saracione; two sons, Michael J. of Earlton and Francis J. of North Carolina; four daughters, Susan A. Blanchfield and Patricia L. Smink, both of Indiana, Grace E. Ramnes of Ballston Spa and Gina M. Saracione of West Islip; a sister, Louise Lubrano of Coatesville, PA; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial was in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Coxsackie.
