JOHN BOYLE SR. 

John Boyle Sr., 81, a longtime resident of West Durham and Durham, more recently the St. Lawrence area, died, Monday, March 27, in Hammond. 

He was born in Burlington, NJ, on August 28, 1924, the son of the late Wesley R. and Emily (Steiner) Boyle.

Boyle served in the Army during World War II. He was an explosives expert and worked for many companies in the Hudson Valley and northern New York regions for more than 30 years He also was a logger and expert tree cutter.

He was an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife of 57 yeas, Ortrud “Trudy” Boyle of Durham, originally from Idar-Oberstein, Germany; son John and wife Dawn of Durham; daughters JoAnn Hassan and husband Khalid of Orland Park, IL, and Jackalyn Boyle of Durham; nine grandchildren, Joseph, Loren Michael, Valerie and Amanda, Al and Jina, Penny and Rebecca Lyn; and a great grandson, Lucas and one on the way.

Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

FLORENCE BRANDOW

Florence Brandow, 101, of Conesville, died Monday, March 27 at the Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford.

Known as the “Lavender Lady,” she was born in Stamford on January 5, 1905 and lived her entire life in Gilboa.

Brandow was a public school teacher in a one-room schoolhouse and the Gilboa Central School for many years. She also was a well-know antique dealer for more than 50 years, the proprietor of Best By a Dam Site Antique Shop.

She was a former president of the Schoharie and Schenectady Mutual Insurance Association. She and her husband Raymond ran the Gilboa Garage from 1945 until his death in 1958.

Brandow was very civic minded and served as the first woman president of the Schoharie County Farm and Home Bureau and was active in the Mountain Star Oasis Eastern Star Lodge # 237 all of her adult life. She was a booster of the Conesville Fire Department Auxiliary and the Conesville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She also was active in Gilboa Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Arvessa Brandow; two grandsons, Michael Brando and wife Karen and Larry Brandow and wife Judy, all of Manorkill; five great-grandchildren, Travis, Byron, Cheri and Shelly Brandow and Jenny Stevens; three great-great-grandchildren, Paige and Jonathan Stevens and Christina Bashwinger; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, a son, Donald H. Brandow, Brothers Avery and Bradley Hinman and Sister Iva Bernard predeceased her.

Interment was in the Manorkill Cemetery.

JOHN KNAUER

John Donald Knauer, 58, died Sunday; March 26 at the Laurel lake Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Lee, MA.

Born in Brooklyn November 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Arthur Jack and Lillian (Beucher) Knauer.

He served in the Army and was assigned to supply and transportation. He served a year in Vietnam, Caeron Bay, and received and honorable discharge on April 29, 1968, after three years of service.

Knauer was award the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.

Survivors include his brothers, George W. Knauer of Coxsackie and Arthur Jack Knauer Jr. of Florida, NY; and two sisters, Kathleen Davis of Noonan, GA, and Rosemary Allen of Stroudsburg, PA.

Besides his parents, a brother Robert M. Knauer, predeceased him.

Private cremation took place at the Albany rural Crematorium, Menands. Interment of his remains, with full military horns, takes place Friday, April 14 at the New Prospect Cemetery in Pine Bush, with the Rev. Robert Hewitt of the Pine Bush United Methodist Church officiating.

RALPH GARDINER

Ralph E. Gardiner, 86, of Westerlo, died at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home in Guilderland on Friday, March 31.

He was born in White Earth, ND, on May 5, 1919, the son of the late Albert and Belva (Sorkness) Gardiner.

Gardiner was a lifelong farmer, owing and operating the Gardiner Farm in Westerlo.

He was a member of the Hiawatha Grange, the Catskill Glee Club and the First Baptist Church of Westerlo.

Surviving are his children, Laura Gardiner and Lawrence Gardiner and wife Linda, all of Westerlo, Donna Gardiner of St. Petersburg, Russia, David Gardiner and wife Elaine of Freeport and Susan Gardiner of Eatontown, NJ; a brother, Russell Gardiner of Spring Grove, IL; two sisters, Lois Bray of Grey, ME, and Martha Slingerland of Unionville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Margaret (Molnar) Gardiner, and a sister Belva Gardiner, predeceased him.

Interment was in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.

DOROTHY HOWARD

Dorothy S. Howard, 98, formerly of Freehold, died Saturday, April 1 at eh Eastern Star Nursing Home in Oriskany.

She was born in Freehold August 31, 1907. The daughter of the late Elmere and Fanny (Seabridge) Story.

Howard attended school in Freehold School District #2 and graduated from Cairo High School and Albany Business College.

She was a rate clerk for Pioneer, Greene County, Catskill Mountain Insurance companies, and a bookkeeper for the supervisor of the Town of Greenville.

She was a member of many organizations, including the Cairo Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, on_Ti-Or chapter of the DAR of Catskill, Cairo Golden Age Club, Green Country Chapter of the AARP, Freehold Literary Club, Huguenot Historical Society and the Freer-Low Family Association.

She was an associate member of the Meeting House Hill Chapter of the DAR and a charter member of the Catskill Valley Historical Society and the Greenville Local History Group.

She also was a member and deacon emeritus of the Freehold Congregational Christian church and a member of the Freehold Cemetery Association.

Surviving are her two daughters, Vivian Peek and husband George of Liverpool and Adele Cooney and husband Peter of Highland, MD; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Purl R. Howard, and a brother, Niles Story, predeceased her.

Burial was in the Freehold Cemetery.

EDWARD “PAT” KIRWAN

Edward Patrick Kirwan, 71, known as “Pat”, died Sunday, March 26.

He was born in Uganda, East Africa, and attended boarding school in Scotland and university in London, England.

Kirwan was an entrepreneur who operated several successful businesses before coming to the States. In the early 1980’s, he and wife Gigi looked at a map and found Freehold and decided to rent a car and see where it was located.  The views and the mountains kept them her and after a short period of time they bought their first home from Anne Lafferty and located in Greenville.

It was a new beginning for “Pat”. Real estate became his passion for the remainder of his years, forming Kirwan, Pickett and Associates. Many people can say that they bought their first home from “Pat”.

“Pat” loved his family and they came first. He also was loved in turn by the community.

Surviving are his wife, Gigi, whom he met in London and married on December 21, 1976; children Tammy and Scott Kirwan of Greenville; and a brother and sister in London.

A memorial service takes place Saturday, April 8 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Greenville and Norton Hill.

ERNEST F. BELL

Ernest F. Bell, 89, of Medusa, died suddenly on Saturday, April 8 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

He had been a resident of the Baptist Rehabilitation and Health Center in Glenville for the past several years.

Bell was born in Schenectady September 16, 1916, the son of the late Frank and Estella (Stone) Bell.

He served in the Army during World War II for two years. He retired from Albany County Department of Public Works, where he was employed for over 25 years. During many of those years he proudly drove the big snow plows. He enjoyed driving trucks and took great pride in those he owned over the years.

His greatest enjoyment came spending time with family, and waxing and cleaning his trucks and cars.

Surviving are his son, David Bell and wife Susan of Greenville; daughter Catherine Mart and husband Wayne of Glenville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Minnie Z. (Brink) Bell on April 8, 2004. A son, Kenneth E. Bell, and Brother Charles and Harvey Bell also predeceased him.

Burial was in the Medusa Cemetery.

GERALDINE C. KRENNRICH

Geraldine C. (Rash) Krennrich, 87, formerly of Westerlo, died at St. Peter’s Hospital on Monday, April 10.

She was born in New York City May 31, 1918, the daughter of the late Frederick and Marie (Holmes) Deckert.

Surviving are her daughter, Cecile Lindstrom and husband Donald of Ticonderoga; a son, Edward Rash and wife Suzanne of Westerlo; grandchildren Bonnie Carr and husband Kevin of Chesapeake, VA, Tammy Neufeld and husband Alan of Clifton Park, Donald Lindsrom and wife Mikki of Cornelius, NC, Andy Lindstrom and wife Claudia of Sarasota, Fl, and Jennifer Wing and husband Steve of Guilderland; and great-grandchildren Samantha Bemis, Madison Bemis, Dakota Lindstrom and Chloe Carr.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Capt. Mel Rash of Teaneck, NJ, and her husband, Harry Krennrich.

Funeral services are Tuesday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. from Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial is in the Greenville Cemetery.

Calling is Monday, April 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

ALAN MACK

Alan Mack, 54, of East Durham, died Monday, April 10 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

He was born in Catskill November 18, 1951, the son of the late Frederick and Helen (Lawyer) Mack.

Mack was a graduate of Cairo-Durham Central High School and worked as a corrections officer at the Hudson Correctional Facility until his retirement. He was a bartender ad the Shamrock House.

He was a life member of the East Durham Volunteer Fire Co., a charter member of the Town of Durham Rescue Squad, a former member of the Masonic Lodge and caretaker and treasurer of the Winton Cemetery. He also was a former Durham town assessor.

Surviving are his wife, Linda (Bates) Mack; a daughter, Kimberly Jackson and husband Shawn of East Durham; a son Adam Mack of East Durham; a brother, Jeff Mack and wife City of Clifton Park; a sister, Kristine Mirocco and husband Frank of Athens; a grandson, Tyler Frederick Jackson of East Durham.

Beside his parents, a daughter Becky Mack, predeceased him.

Funeral services are Friday, April 14 at 11 a.m. from Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 route 81, Greenville. Calling is today, April 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Winston Cemetery.

DUNCAN MACKENZIE

Duncan Mackenzie died peacefully on Saturday, April 8 while in the care of the Hospice at St. Peter’s Hospital.

He was born in Pawtucket, RI, November 25, 1924, to Catherine “Kitty” and Duncan Mackenzie.

He married Margaret Ann Hall, his lifelong love and friend, on December 16, 1950.

After graduating from high school in Middleboro, KY, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, he received and undergraduate degree from Union College and a masters of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary.

He served faithfully for 30 years as a minister in the Kentucky and New York East Annual Conferences of the United Methodist Church. He was a minister of the Greenville-Norton Hill Parish from 1965 to 1970. During the years of his ministry, Duncan worked tirelessly to promote justice and equity for all people.

Those who loved him remember his pleasure in games and sports, his sense of humor, his straight-forwardness, his vivid storytelling and most importantly, his devotion to family.

Mackenzie’s memory is cherished by his wife of 55 years, Margaret; his twin brother, Sam Mackenzie, and his sister, Barbara Healey. His legacy of love is evident in his children, John and Kathy McAneny, Wesley Mackenzie, and Tom and Peggy Pensack; his grandchildren, John and Sarah Motta, Jared and Emma McAneny, Joshua and Lara McAneny, Jonathan Mackenzie, Carrie Mackenzie, Will Mackenzie, Alek and Michelle Lenkiewicz, Michael Pensack, Casey Pensack and Chris Pensack; and great-grandchildren Jack Motta, Caleb Motta and Myah Lenkiewicz.

A memorial service to celebrate Mackenzie’s life takes place at the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m.

ROBERT F. STOTT

Robert F. Stott, 68, of Leeds, died Monday, April 10 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, where he had been a patient since March 31.

Born May 31, 1937 in Catskill, he was the son of the late Winfred and Eunice Irene Davis Stott.

Stott was a graduate of Catskill High School and was employed as a draftsman engineer by IBM in Kingston for 35 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a former active member of the Catskill Glee Club, and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, the Greene County Historical Society and the Catskill United Methodist Church.

His Scale model of the Cauterskill Hotel, Prospect Hotel and Catskill Mountain House are on Exhibit at the Bronck house museum in Coxsackie.

He also enjoyed playing tennis, softball and bowling.

Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth Bray, whom he married on November 30, 1969: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Winfred Stott o Wake Forest, NC, and Theodore Curtis and Miranda Stott of Lansingburg, VA; a sister, Dollie Johnson of Coxsackie; four nieces, Eunice Thein of Rochester, Susan Moore of Massachusetts, and Joy Pruiksma and Jill Peters of Coxsackie; two nephews, David Deluca of Coxsackie and Albert Deluca of Greenville; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services are today, April 13 at a.m. from the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. The Rev Paul T. Peters, pastor of the First Reformed Church of Coxsackie, Officiates.

Interment follows in the Catskill Cemetery.

MICHAEL T. VOTTA

Michael T. Votta, 82, of Coxsackie, died Sunday, April 9 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

Born in Coxsackie march 18, 1924, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Nocera Votta.

Votta was a private first class in the Marines from January 1943 until September 1945. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Purple Heart Medal of Honor for his actions during combat in Iwo Jima.

The New York State Thruway Authority recognized him for his 28 years of service, 1955 to 1983.

As a member of Coxsackie Hose Company # 3, he was recognized as a lifetime member for his 64 years of faithful service and contributions.

He also was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, serving in various volunteer capacities.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hotaling Votta; three sons, and two daughters-in-laws, Michael and Nancy Votta of Atlanta, Ga, James Votta of Saugerties and David and Angela Votta of Nashville, TN; a daughter an son-in-law, Rosanne and Samuel Starr of Boston, MA; a sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Alfred Daoust; and four grandchildren, Michael and Caroline Votta and Ross and Tanya Starr.

Two sisters, Carmela Alcuri and Rose Lammly, predeceased him.

Memorial contribution may be made to St. Mary’s Memorial Society, Coxsackie, or the Coxsackie Rescue Squad.

Arrangements were with Brady’s Funeral Home, Coxsackie.

CLAIRE FISHER

Claire Fisher, 84, of Cairo, died Friday, April 14 at home.

She was born in Mount Vernon, Westchester County, August 21, 1923.

She spent many summers with relatives who owned boarding houses in Cairo.

After graduating from Davis High school in Mount Vernon, she attended Westchester School of Nursing in Valhalla, where she earned her nursing degree. She then volunteered for the Army Nurse Corps and served as a second lieutenant through the end of World War II.

After the war she moved to Cairo to live with her parents. She met and married John Fisher Jr. They build their home on Silver Spurs Road in 1968, where they lived with their six children.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Howell of Virginia Beach, VA, and Claire Miller of Durham, NC; four sons, John Fisher III of Virginia Beach, David Fisher of Forest Hills, Rob Fisher of East Durham and James Fisher of Corinth; a sister, Mina Englemann of Cairo; two brothers, Fred Metzler of Big Pine, Fl, and Bill Metzler of Cairo; sis grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many nephews and nieces.

Her husband predeceased her.

Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural Crematorium, Menands.

Arrangements were with Richards Funeral Home, Cairo.

PATRICIA M. HAN

Patricia M. (O’Toole) Hahn, 76, of Coxsackie, died Tuesday, April 11 at her residence.

Born in Trenton, NJ, May 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James and Mae O’Toole.

Prior to her retirement, she was an executive secretary for the head of security at the Rockefeller Center in New York City.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Hahn of Catskill and Patricia McDowell and husband Joe of Coxsackie; a daughter-in-law, Lori Hahn of Nassau; a brother James O’Toole of Poughkeepsie; a sister Margurite Pittman of New Jersey; grandchildren Melissa Hahn of Nassau and Cheryelyn Barnard of Kingston; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Clifford J. Hahn, predeceased her on December 6, 2203. Her son Clifford J. Hahn Jr. and sister Marilyn Duffy also died before her.

Private cremation took place at the Albany rural crematorium Menands.

Arrangements were with W.C. Brady’s sons Inc. Funeral Home, Coxsackie.

AUDREY A. LEE

Audrey Anne (Paterno) Lee, 58, of South Westerlo, died Thursday, April 13 after a long and hard battle with breast cancer. She was at home surrounded by her family and friends during her last days of her life.

She was the owner of Stillmeadow Realty. Her best friend and partner Tad Palka, will carry on the business, started in 1992.

Lee was a Yankees fan and often attended ballgames.  She also liked to go to garage sales and tend her garden in her spare time.

She was born and raised in the Bronx and moved to upstate New York in 1977.  She was the daughter of the late John James and Anna Paterno.

She leaves behind her companion and caretaker through her battle, Tad Palka; son Raymond Cushin; son and daughter-in-law, John and Michelle Cushin; and granddaughter Allie Cushin.

A memorial service takes place Saturday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at the South Westerlo Congregational Church, 283 County Route 405, South Westerlo 12083.

Contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to the Capital District Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany.

FRANCES SILK

Frances Veronica Silk, 90, of Greenville, died Friday, April 14 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born September 10, 1915 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Black Cornell.

She enjoyed playing bingo ever Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday where she would meet her friends and father Murphy at St. Patrick’s in Catskill.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Joyce, and Donald and Judy; a sister, Rosemary Callahan; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Marion Cornell; four grandchildren, James Silk of Freehold, Kelly Fagan of Greenville, and Erin Silk and Donald Silk of Shirley, Long Island; and six great-grandchildren.

Her husband, James J. Silk, predeceased her.

A memorial service is planned for a later date. Burial was in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital or to the Greenville Rescue Squad.

ASTRID M. SUUBAN

Astrid M. Suuban, 89, of Athens, died Sunday, April 9 at Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck.

Born in Sweden March 16, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Kristina Sand and Lara Jonson.

She married September 3, 1944 in the Bronx to Arnold Suuban, who died November 2, 1979.

Suuban was a teacher’s assistant at Alexander Burger Junior High School # 139 in New York City, retiring in 1985.

She had been a resident of Athens since 1999, having moved there from Middle Island, Long Island.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in the Bronx, the Order of the VASA Scandinavian Women and a longtime member and former treasurer of the Middle Island Fire Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Richard Greene of Athens; a son and daughter-in-law Arnold and Valerie Suuban of Athens; grandchildren Richard and Chris Merando, William Chris Merando, and Bridgette Suuban and Denise Suuban; great-grandchildren Kiersten Vignera and Mary Elizabeth Merando; and several nieces and nephews.

Two sisters, Judith Hodgens and Edith Johnson, and a brother, Hilding Jonson, predeceased her.

Interment was in the chapel of Washington Memorial Park, Mount Sinai, Long Island.

GEORGE WILLIAMS JR.

George E. Williams Jr., 85, of East Durham, died Saturday, April 15 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

He was born in East Durham July 6, 1920, the son of the late George E. and Pearl Winans Williams Sr.

Williams served in the U.S. Army Engineers in World War II on Attu, a small island at the tip of the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska.

He worked as a superintendent for Callahan Industries in South Bethlehem until his retirement.

He was a member of IUOE Local 106 for more than 50 years, a member of the Greenville- Norton Hill United Methodist church, a life member and past fire chief of the East Durham Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Durham Valley American Legion Post # 1416 for more than 50 years.

Williams enjoyed music. He played with the Catskill Mountain Hot Shots for almost 50 years.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Irene Elliot Williams; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Lois Williams of Massachusetts and Kenneth and Jeanne Williams of Schuylerville; a daughter an son-in-law, Alayne and Allyn Wright of Medusa; nine grandchildren, Brad Williams of Scituate, MA, Brian Williams of Merrimac, MA, Brent Williams of Yarmouth, ME, Beth Lounsbury of Westerlo, Lynette Terrell of Rensselaerville, Barbara Hewlett of Massena, Travis Smigel of Freehold, and Aaron Williams and Jennifer McGarry of Boston, MA; 16 great-grandchildren; and a niece.

His sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Calvin Borthwick, and a nephew predeceased him.

MARTHA MILLER

Martha “Dorothy” Miller, 72, died Easter morning, April 16, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born in Queens February 25, 1934.

Surviving are her husband Gerald; children Dorothy Hoyt Cahorshak and husband John, Stephen Hoyt and wife Robin and Peter Hoyt and only one grandchild Erin; and siblings Vera Lutz and husband William, Edward Keicher and wife Betty, and Barbara Macomber.

Entombment was in the Boca Raton Mausoleum.

HENRY K. OLBERT

Henry K. Olbert, 86, of Livingstonville died Saturday, April 15 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 2, 1919, in Helmholf, Germany, a son of the late Wilhelm and Luise Ohnmacht Olbert.

Olbert worked for Schaller and Weber in Astoria as a master butcher, retiring after 47 years of employment.  He was a member of the German American Club, the Butcher’s Union and the Town of Broome Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. He was also very proud of his two homes in New York and Florida.

Surviving are his wife, Erna H. Olbert, whom he married on February 1, 1940; and daughter Brigitte Albers (John) of Greenville and Irmgard Wogan (Edward) of Livingstonville; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

His nine siblings predeceased him.

A funeral service took place at Palmer and Shaylor inc. Funeral Home, Middleburgh, with the Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating.

Cremation took place at Vale Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady.

NELLIE ROBINSON

Nellie R. Robinson, 94, of Cobleskill, formerly of Schoharie, died Tuesday, April 18 at Eden Park Nursing Home Cobleskill.

She was born in East Jewett on July 3, 1911, the daughter of the late Stanley and Esther (Cook) Garvey.

Robinson was a kitchen aide and cook until her retirement.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge # 506 and the Farmer’s Grange, achieving a Silver Certificate. She also was a volunteer and Albany Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Gepfert and husband Henry of Cohoes and Joan Bombard and husband Thomas of Esperance; three granddaughters, Danielle Bombard, Jody Bombard and Michelle Weigert and husband Mark; a great-grandson James Blake.

She was predeceased by her husband, David Robinson, in 1962, Sister Eunice Garvey Warfield and brother Millard and Herbert Garvey.

Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Those who wish may contribute in her memory to Schoharie County Hospice.

GORDON R. SHAVER

Gordon R. Shaver, 81, of Westerlo, died Friday, April 21 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

He was born in Rensselaerville on April 27, 1924, the son of the late Sanford G. and Welthea A. (Francis) Shaver.

Shaver was a truck driver for the Albany county Highway Department in Voorheesville until his retirement.

He was a Westerlo town justice for more than 20 years. He was a former member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the Westerlo Democratic Club.

Shaver enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, and loved his wild birds. He was an avid Yankee fan and loved NASCAR racing.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ruth (Waldron) Shaver; a son, Doyle Shaver and wife Melony of Medusa; three daughters, Kayette Ferraioli and husband George of Lakeland, FL, Marla Shaver of Westerlo and Zena Higgins and husband Anthony of Medusa; a sister, Delyghte Woodruff of Rensselaerville; a brother Delwyn Shaver of Medusa; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A son, Blaine Shaver, predeceased him.

As to his wishes, Shaver was cremated and interred in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery and the Convenience of the family.

KENT WEISENBURN

Kent Ian Weisenburn, 54, died suddenly Monday, April 17 at his home in Port Orange, FL.

He was born in Catskill January 30, 1952, the son of Gerald R. Weisenburn (U.S. Marine) of South Bethlehem and the late Adelaide B. Coburn.

Weisenburn grew up in South Bethlehem, attended Ravena Central School and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

He was a retired Pen Central/Conrail railroad employee.

Besides his father, surviving are his daughters, Jamie Lee Allbee (U.S. Navy) and April Yvonne Pope of Memphis, TN, and Allannah Kay Weisenburn of Port Orange, FL; his stepmother, Susan of South Bethlehem; siblings Sharon Dillon (USAF) and husband David of Spring Hill, FL, Roxanne Lindsey of Rensselaer and Gerald R. Weisenburn II (USN) of Coxsackie; a step-brother, Richard Buckley (U.S. Army) of Hannacroix; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A son Erik G. Weisenburn a brother, Elwood (EG) Weisenburn (U.S. Army); a stepbrother, Peter (PJ) Buckley (U.S. Army) and a grandson predeceased him.

A memorial service takes place a later date.
