W. COOPER
Robert
W. Cooper, 79 years, of Westerlo, New York, passed away suddenly at St.
Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on August 23, 2005. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on April 10, 1926, son
of the late Henry and Alice (Risen) Cooper.
Robert
was a retired manager for A & P Supermarkets having managed stores in
Elsmere, Coxsackie and Ravena.
Serving
his country during World War II in the US Army he was a highly decorated
veteran. Serving in Central Europe
and in the Rhineland, he received the Bronze Star Medal, the European Middle
Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
His unit, CO A 778th Tank BN received a Citation for their
part in repelling the German 82nd Corps offensive to retain vital
ground near Lampaden. To quote the Citation: “On
6 March 1945 to 7 March 1945, these units, exhibiting unwavering fortitude and
indomitable tenacity, successfully protected the division bridgehead in the face
of overwhelming odds.”
Bob
will also be remembered as the Hilltown TV Repairman and an active Republican
Party member. He was also a member
of the American Legion.
Surviving
are his wife, Marion (Dunbar) Cooper; two sons, Robert H. Cooper and his wife
Carol of Westerlo, New York, Richard J. Cooper of Westerlo, New York; a
daughter, Gail Bushnell; also six great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Cooper
of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, George and John Cooper.
Funeral
service was Saturday from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville,
New York. Friends called at the
funeral home on Friday. Interment
was in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery. Those

JAMES
W. WEST, JR.
James
W. West, Jr., 63 years, of Medusa, New York, passed away suddenly on August 29,
2005 at St Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. He was born in Albany, New York on January 20, 1942, son of
the late James W., Sr. and Margaret (Buddenhagan) West.
James
was in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany.
He was employed as a laborer with Old Castle Pre-Stressed Concrete until
his retirement in January of 2005. He
was a member of the Clark White American Legion Post No. 589.
James enjoyed bowling and golfing. He
also loved gardening and was particularly proud of the gladiolus he raised in
his garden.
Surviving
are his wife Sandra L. (Brandow) west of Medusa, New York; his son, Curtis West
and his wife Rose of Dunn, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Nicole, Stephanie,
Theodore, Veronica, Alexis and Christina West; and a sister, Margaret Pearson
and her husband John of Indianola, Iowa.
Funeral
service will be Thursday, September 1 at 8 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home,
4898 SR 81, Greenville, New York. Friends

Interment will be in the Medusa Cemetery Friday at 10 a.m.

NY--- Elizabeth “Betty” O’Connell, 65 years of Yonkers, New York, passed
away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers, New York on September 2, 2005.
She was born in Bagenalstown, County Carlow, Ireland on November 3, 1939
daughter to the late Christopher and Bridget (Tobin) McDonald.
A lifelong homemaker she was a friend to all who knew her, loving her
family very much, and treating her several nieces and nephews as her children.
Surviving
are two sisters, Ann Hackett of East Durham, New York; Bea Yeager of Levittown,
Pennsylvania; two brothers Andrew McDonald also of Levittown; Jack McDonald of
England and her several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
service will be Thursday, 10:15 AM from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State
Route 81, Greenville with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 AM at our Lady of
Knock Shrine, East Durham, New York. Friends
may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 7 to 9 PM.
Internment will be in the Winston Cemetery, East Durham.

Marion
E. Dudley, 51 years of Freehold, New York, passed away on August 31, 2005 at St.
Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. She
was born in Albany, New York on July 6, 1954, daughter of Marion (VanAlstyne)
Kudlack and the late Charles Otten. Marion was a lifelong homemaker.
She loved music and was an avid reader.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her father Marion was predeceased by her stepfather
John Kudlack.
Surviving
are her husband, Harry Dudley of Freehold, New York; her children, Michelle Deyo
and her husband Michael, Matthew Dudley and his wife Rachel and Amanda Dudley;
her stepchildren, David Dudley, Michael Dudley and his wife Julia, Laura
McDonald and her husband Martin and Harry Dudley Jr.; three grandchildren,
Michael and Mariah Deyo and Daisy Mae Dudley; and four step-grandchildren,
Kayley McDonald and Courtney, Camile and Sidney Dudley; her brothers, Raymond,
Charles and Donald Otten; her sisters, Sharon Dinelle and Patty Otten; and her
stepbrothers, John Kudlack and Edward Kudlack and his wife Connie.

service was Sunday, September 4 at the South Bethlehem United Methodist Church
in South Bethlehem, New York. Friends

CENTER, NY --- Leta M. Payne, 73 years of Greenville Center, New York passed
away at the Hospice Inn of St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on
September 3, 2005. She was born in
Durham, New York on May 10, 1932 daughter of the late Harry and Minnie (Smith)
German. A lifelong homemaker, she
loved sewing and made all sorts of clothes for everyone including several
wedding gowns and suits. Leta was a
faithful member of the Greenville Center Baptist Church.
Surviving
are her loving husband of 52 years, Francis (Frank) Payne, two sons Gerald Payne
and Freehold, New York; Glenn Payne and his wife Denise of Freehold; two
grandchildren Stephanie and Ashley Payne and a sister Mildred Nethaway and her
husband Raymond also of Freehold. She
was predeceased by a sister Murial German.
Funeral
service will be Wednesday, September 7 at 11 AM at the Cunningham Funeral Home,
4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Internment

NY --- Loretta M Baldwin, 82 years, of Coxsackie, New York passed away at the
Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York on September 4, 2005.
She was born in Madison, Maine on March 5, 1923 daughter of the late
Edmond and Carolyn (Dionne) Jacques. A
lifelong homemaker, she was a former member of the Helderberg Hilltoppers RV
Club. She was pre-deceased by a
son, Leo Barcomb.
Surviving
are her husband, Kenneth Baldwin, her step-children Kenneth Baldwin Jr. and his
wife Patricia of Athens, New York; Herman Reinhold and his wife Susan of
Virginia; Karen Page and her husband Steve of Indiana; Vernon Baldwin and his
wife Kirsten of Coxsackie; Skyben and his wife Diane of Coxsackie, also 19
step-grandchildren; her sisters Lucille of Ridge, New Hampshire; Rita of
Winchendon, Mass., a niece Patricia McMann of Tupper Lake, New York; a nephew
Michael Lanthier of Tupper Lake; and a sister-in-law SR. Mary Clotilde (Mary
Barcomb) of Chicago, Illinois.

RALPH
BRITTON, SR.
Ralph
Britton, Sr. 86 years, of Rensselaerville, New York passed away at St. Peter’s
Hospital on August 25, 2005. He was
born in the town of Westerlo on April 1, 1919, son of the late William and Cora
(Peck) Britton.
Ralph
served in the US Army from January 1941 through May 1945 and was a Corporal in
Company E 106th Infantry, 27th Division.
He served three years in the Pacific, Majuro in the Marshall Islands,
Battle of Saipan in the Marianas and Espirito Santo, New Hebrides.
He received the Bronze Star and was given an award for Conspicuous
Service by the State of New York.
Following
his Military service, Ralph worked at the Huyck Mill in Rensselaer, New York, as
a weaver. Ralph and his wife
Magdalena, operated Britton’s Soda Fountain Rensselaerville, New York for
nearly 20 years. He was postmaster
in Rensselaerville, New York for 26 years.
Ralph was a Charter Member of the Rensselaerville Volunteer Fire Co.,
serving as treasurer for 37 years. He
was also a member of the Clark White Post American Legion for 57 years and a
member of the 27th Div. Assn., Post 11 for many years.
He
enjoyed woodworking, caning chairs, refinishing furniture and bird watching.
Family and friends were very important to him and he was always ready to
lend a helping hand.
Surviving
are his devoted wife of 59 years, Magdalena (Preisner) Britton; his loving
children, Ralph Britton, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Ravena, New York, Eileen
Britton of Oak Hill, New York, Diana Fritz and her husband Kenneth of
Rensselaerville, New York; his dear grandchildren, Brian and Michael Britton,
Kimberly Henlin and her husband David, John Kotuc, Stephanie Stepp, Seth and
Daniel Fritz. He was predeceased by
his brothers Leroy Britton, Sanford Britton and a sister, Marjorie Moore.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

LEE BOOMER
Robin
Lee Woodworth Boomer, age 46, died at home on Tuesday morning, September 13,
2005 after a long bout with brain cancer. Robin
grew up in East Jewett, New York, graduated from Hunter Tannersville Central and
attended Columbia-Greene Community College.
She
worked as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service at Westerlo
and Hannacroix for 15 years. She
was a fantastic wife and mother.
Survivors
include her husband Dan, five children, Nathan (Kari), Akra, Katy, Meagan and
Madalyne; three grandchildren, Travis, Hailey, and Olivia; her parents, Ruth
Mary and Gerry Woodworth; one sister, three brothers, and many nieces and
nephews. She was a friend and
strength to all who knew her.
Funeral
services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 17 at the Babcock Funeral
Home, Ravena. Friends may call at
the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

MATTHEW TRYON
David
Matthew Tryon, 9, died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the Albany Medical Center
Hospital following an accident at home. David
was a former student at the Helderberg Christian School and was currently
attending Berne Knox Westerlo schools. Included in his many interests was his love of sports, his
cat Angel and his many friends.
David
is survived by his parents, Timothy and Laurie Owens Tryon; his sister, Grace C.
Tryon; his grandparents, Gerald and Lois Tryon of Feura Bush, Robert Owens of
South Bethleham and Carol March of Stuyvesant Falls; his aunts and uncles,
Ernest and Lisa Appleby of Coeymans Hollow, Debbie and Paul Hartnagel of Feura
Bush, Beth and Kevin Hunter of Coeymans Hollow and John and Karen Wyatt of
Austin, Texas. He is also survived
by many great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
A
funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of
Westerlo. Friends may call on
Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont.

MCNAUGHTON
Helen
McNaughton, 83 years of Brookside Court, Kingston, died Saturday, July 23, 2005
at Kingston Hospital.
Born
in Manhattan on July 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna
Hicks McGrath.
McNaughton
was co-owner of McNaughton Farms, a summer resort in Greenville, with her
sister-in-law. They operated the
resort in Greenville for 30 years, retiring in 1975.
After
retirement, she was employed by Colony Liquor.
She
was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville and it Rosary Society,
St. Catherine Laboure Church in Lake Katrine, and its Rosary Society, and the
Halcyon Women’s Club.
Her
husband, Donald McNaughton, died in 1973.
Surviving
are one daughter, Betty Bartolotta of Dover, New Hampshire; two sons, John H.
McNaughton of Nappa, California, and Donald J. McNaughton of Lake Katrine; two
sisters, Betty Cullen of St. Remy, and Anne McGrath of Kingston.
Six grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews
also survive.
The
funeral procession formed Tuesday at The Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27
Smith Avenue. A Mass of Christian
Burial was celebrated at the Saint Catherine Laboure Church.
Burial was in the St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery in Barclay Heights.

--- William Kuhar, 84 years of Rensselaerville, New York passed away at St.
Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on September 8, 2005.
He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 7, 1921 son of the late
John and Susan (Casper) Kuhar. Bill
served in the United States Navy during World War II, receiving the Good Conduct
Medal, the Asiatic Pacific, Philp. Lib., American Theatre & the Victory
Medals and the Bronze Star. He had
retired from General Electric where he had been a welder and was a member of the
Clark White American Legion Post #589 and a Charter Member of the
Rensselaerville Volunteer Fire Co.
Surviving
is his wife of 57 years Edith (VonLinden) Kuhar, his daughter Jane Coutant and
her husband Malcom, his son Michael Kuhar and a sister Marie Bogue also several
nieces and nephews. He was
pre-deceased by two brothers James and Thomas Kuhar.
Funeral
services were from the Trinity Episcopal Church in Rensselaerville with
internment at the Rensselaerville Cemetery.

Mennona, 69 years of Greenville, New York (formerly of Norwalk, Connecticut),
passed away July 22, 2005 at the Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie, New York.
She was born in Catskill, New York on December 13, 1935, daughter of the
late Jesse O. and Marion Felter. She
was an office worker at MBI (Danbury Mint) in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Frances
is survived by her loving family.
A
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, September 10, at Our Lady of
Knock Shrine in East Durham. Interment
was in the Greenville Cemetery following the mass. There was no calling hours.

Mr.
Richard Albright, 83, farmer and retired partner of Albright Brother Farm of
Athens, died Sunday, September 11 at the Community Hospice of Columbia Memorial
Hospital.
Born
January 27, 1922 in Athens, he was the son of the late Marion C. and Edith
(Van-Heusen) Albright.
He
was a member of Catskill Lodge 468, Free and Accepted Masons, longtime member of
the Farm Bureau, Town of Athens Zoning Board of Appeals, member of the
Agricultural Extension Service Executive Committee, as well as a former member
of the W.C. Brady Hook and Ladder Company.
Richard and his late wife Jean also enjoyed dealing in antiques as the
Olde Board Antiques.
Survivors
include his two sons, Richard of Athens and Roger (Anne) of Saugerties; his
granddaughter, Melissa Albright, stepdaughters, Linda (Carlton) Wilkinson, Donna
Newton, Janet (George) Guilzon, Cheryl (Neil) Morrison, and Debra Betor; three
nieces, Linda Bypper of Wappinger Falls, Joy Albright of Athens and Sara Cutler
of Schenectady; three nephews, Timothy of Athens and Harry and William of
Earlton; his sister-in-law, Ruth Hotaling; 15 grandchildren and several cousins.
He
was predeceased by his wife, Jean C. two brothers, Tom and William; his sister,
Eleanor and his stepdaughter, Sandy Chalk.
A
memorial service was conducted Friday, September 16 at Richard’s Funeral Home,
26 North Vernon Street, Athens.
Committal
services were at the convenience of the family.

EAST
DURHAM, NY--- Helen Orutt Lawyer, 91, died suddenly on Thursday, September 15,
2005. Born in Oneonta, New York,
she was pre-deceased by one sister and three brothers.
Helen
was a graduate of Oneonta Normal School where she received certification as an
elementary school teacher. She
moved to East Durham in 1940. As
well as being a homemaker, she also was alongside her husband Stanley Lawyer,
the proprietor of the Lawyer’s General Store for many years until the couple
retired in 1984. Stanley
predeceased her in 1994.
Helen
was a life member of the East Durham Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and
a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in East Durham.
Survivors
include her five children, Robert Stansfield of Voorheesville, New York; David
Lowe of Atlanta, Georgia; Douglas Lowe of Newark, New York; Katherine Lawyer of
East Durham, New York and Harry Lawyer also of East Durham.
Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive her, as well
as three generations of nieces and nephews.
A
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, September 19 at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in
East Durham, New York followed by internment in the Winston Cemetery in East
Durham, New York. Donations I
Helen’s memory may be made to the East Durham Volunteer Fire Company.
The
1935 yearbook for Oneonta Normal School indicated that Helen was kind and
cheerful, and “always the same to everyone.”
This remained true throughout her life.

HOLLOW --- Daniel German, 60 years of Preston Hollow, New York passed away at
the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital on September 17, 2005.
He was born in Catskill, New York on March 31, 1945 son of Helen (Potter)
German and the late Gordon German. Daniel
served in the United States Army for 20 years being discharged as a S/Sgt.
Serving in Vietnam, he received the Defense Service Medal, Vietnam
Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation: Army
Commendation Medal [2
Oak Leaf Clusters], Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Clasp [5 loops];

passed away at her home in Saugerties, New York on September 17, 2005 after a
long illness. She was born in New
Baltimore, New York on November 9, 1922 daughter of the late Fred and Helen
(Hoffman) Kaiser. She served in the
United States Marine Corps during World War II and was discharged as a Corporal.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville, New York and a
former member of the Women’s Marine Association, the Maranatha Valley Chapter
No. 764; O.E.S., the Greenville American Legion Post No. 291,
Ladies Auxiliary, the Freehold Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary
and the Freehold C.C. Church Ladies Aid.
A
life-long homemaker, she was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Thomson and a
brother Fred Kaiser.
Surviving
are her son, Charles Thomson and his wife Bonnie of Saugerties, New York; a
daughter, Susan Thomson of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren, Aubree Thomson

W. Jennings, 88 years of East Durham, New York, passed away at the Good
Samaritan Home in Delmar, New York on September 19, 2005.
She was born in South Bethlehem on August 26, 1917, daughter of the late
Ernest and Emma (Gimlick) Wisenburn.
Winnie
was the postmistress at the Cornwallville, Preston Hollow, Durham and East
Durham Post Offices. She was also a
waitress at the Fern Cliff House in East Durham and the Elm Rest in Oak Hill,
New York. She also drove a feeder
school bus for the Durham Central School. She
was a member of the State and National Grange for over 70 years, the East Durham
Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Aux. For over 50 years and a member of the Catskill Valley
Grange No. 1557. She was
predeceased by her husband Edgar Jennings.
Surviving
are a son, David Jennings and his wife Laurie of Cairo, New York; two daughters,
Sandy Swann and her husband Brian of Feura Bush, New York, Shirley Eck and her
husband Harold of Summerfield, Florida; six grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Wisenburn of Feura Bush, New York; two
special nieces, Debbie Wilder of Escondido, California, Nancy Wisenburn of Feura
