Paul A. L’Antigua
Paul A. L’Antigua, 94 years, passed away at the home of his niece, Mary “Bunny” Detlefsen in Hannacroix, NY on September 18, 2008. He was born in Malden, MA., on November 10, 1913, son of the late Edward and Emily (Costella) L’Antigua. Born and bred in the Boston area, a graduate of Rindge Tech., Cambridge, MA., Class of 31. He was a special Education Instructor at the Fernald school in Waltham, MA, until his retirement. Paul was appointed by Gov. Volpe in 1968 to the Advisory Board on Comprehensive Health Planning for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He sought compensation for client workers at state institutions. He was an Honorary Member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Cape Cod Chapter. Paul was a long time resident of West Yarmouth, MA., where he was cited for his outstanding service to the people of Yarmouth, - instrumental in the Building of the Senior Center, the Fuel Emergency Fund and Charter Member of the Cape United Elderly. Paul was married 67 years to Phyllis D. Stickney who passed away in 2003. They were a team and noted as such. He was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in So. Yarmouth, MA.
Survivors of “Uncle Paul” include many nieces and nephews, a brother, Kenneth L’Antigua and a sister, Meredith Burke of Sun City West, AZ.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover, MA.

Carl D. Smith, Sr.
Carl D. Smith, Sr., 78, of South Westerlo, New York, passed away at the St. Peter’s Hospice Inn at Albany, New York on September 26, 2008. He was born in Medusa, New York, on March 10, 1930, son of the late Delos and Mamie (Edwards) Smith.
Carl served his country in the US Army with A-Battery in the 38th Field Artillery during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He retired from the Albany County Highway Department having worked in the Voorheesville section as a stores clerk.
He was an active member of the Greenville American Legion Post No. 291, the Tri-Town Memorial Post No. 722 VFW, the US Korean Foundation, and 2nd Indian Head Division. Also, the James Austin Lodge No. 557 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Albany, the Cyprus Shrine in Albany, New York, the Cyprus Motor Patrol, and a 44 year member of the Norton Hill Wildlife Club. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and gardening and having a good time with his many friends. He will be missed by his loving family and the many friends that he leaves behind.
Surviving are his wife Gertrude “Trudy” (Elpel) Smith; a son, Carl Smith, Jr., “Chip” (Julianne) of Durham, New York; two step-grandchildren, Dylan and Jeremy Weremichick; a brother, Rossie Smith (Shirley) of Greenville, New York; a sister, Marie Losee of Rome, New York; a niece, Linda White; and two nephews, Kevin Smith and Gerald Losee; also a stepmother, Gene Smith and her daughter Sherri Gray.
Relatives and friends called at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, on Monday. The James Austin Lodge, 7pm., Greenville American Legion Post, 7:30pm and the Tri-Town Memorial Post 7:45pm conducted services at the funeral home. Service and interment were at the Gerald Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, on Tuesday, September 30. Those who desire may contribute in his memory to the Columbia/Greene Community Hospice or to the Westerlo Ambulance Fund.

Thomas “Tucker” Vance
Thomas “Tucker” Vance, 62, passed away on September 28, 2008, at Sunny Hill surrounded by his family. He was born in Albany, New York on June 3, 1946, son of Martha (Palmer) Vance and the late Frank Vance.
Tucker served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era and was a member of the Greenville American Legion Post No. 291 and the VFW Post No. 3559 in Florida. He was well known for his witty sense of humor and always had a wise crack or joke ready. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Besides his father he was predeceased by a brother, Larry Vance.
Surviving are his mother, Martha (Palmer) Vance; three sisters, Audrey Reed of Boise, Idaho, Suzanne Downs of Clifton Park, New York and Lynnda Capellan of Middletown, New York. Tucker is also survived by his “adopted” families the Cornells and the Nicholsens as well as his many friends.
Calling hours were Wednesday, 4 to 8pm at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville. The Greenville American Legion Post conducted services at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:45pm. Interment to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, 4pm in the Greenville Cemetery.

Arthur Beatty Jr.
Arthur Beatty, Jr., US Navy Lt. Commander, Retired, died at the age of 85 on September 8, 2008 in Rhode Island.
Born January 21, 1923 at Clinton Corners, NY he was the son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Smith) Beatty. Art attended school in Coxsackie and graduated from the Greenville Central School.
After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy “to learn to fly airplanes”. He was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the Battle of Midway.
During his 30 year career in the Navy, he “flew almost everything with wings, and a few without.”
Art is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn (Pitney) Beatty of East Greenwich, RI; a brother Kelton Beatty in Pleasant Valley, NY and a sister Anita Van Ness in Coxsackie, NY as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother Warren and 3 sisters; Mrs. Fred (Rowenna) Bailey; Mrs. Earl (Marguerite) Simpkins, Sr., and Mrs. Gorden (Norma) Baker.
Art’s cremated remains were placed, with military honors, in the Rhode Island State Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.

William A. Daupheny
William A. Daupheny, 82 years, of Acra, New York, passed away on October 9, 2008 in St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 16, 1926, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kent) Daupheny.
William served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marine and in the Korean Conflict in the US Army. He was a steamfitter with Local 638 in New York City until his retirement. William was a member of the Our Lady of Knock Council of the Knights of Columbus Chapter No. 6439 and held the office of Grand Knight. William loved his family and they loved him. He also loved playing poker and the horses. He was a communicant at Our Lady of Knock Shrine.
William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathryn (Connolly) Daupheny in 1998 and a daughter, Alyce Daupheny; two brothers, and two sisters.
Surviving are his six daughters, Elizabeth Nelson, Theresa Skelly, Maryellen Guitella, Bonnie Candrelli, Laura Daupheny and Jennifer Daupheny; his two sons, Michael and William Daupheny; his sister-in-law and caregiver, Bernadette Hunt; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Tuesday, October 14, from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, New York with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, New York. Friends called at the funeral home on Sunday and Monday.

Edith Noonan
Edith Noonan, 83, of Glenmont, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family and with the compassion of Hospice and the tremendous staff of the hospital. Mrs. Noonan was born Edith Myer4s on April 5, 1925 to the late Chauncey and Matilda Meyers of Delanson, New York.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Victor Noonan, and was the dedicated, loving mother and friend of her children and their families, Robert (Pat) Noonan, Susan Noonan of Florida, Nancy (Olin) Garrett of Latham, New York, Sherry (Max) Lea of Australia and Kelly Hofmann of Greenville, New York. Also surviving are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 7pm on Wednesday, October 15, at the Bowen Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. As a tribute to her memory, the family requests that contributions be made to the Albany Dialysis Center, 64 Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12204. Jeanne M. Barton
Jeanne Margaret Barton, nee Markey, age 49, of Greenville, died Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany with her beloved family at her side.
She was born January 28, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Philip and Elizabeth (Gralton) Markey of Greenville.
Jeanne was a licensed practical nurse for the Veterans Administration for many years.
She was an avid reader, loved walks on the beach with her husband Ken and dog Podge in Florida, and her favorite trip was to Las Vegas with her mom and sisters.
She was predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Kenneth Barton, on November 18, 2004.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne is survived by two sisters, Maureen (David) Roberts of Greenville, Monica Markey of Glenmont, two brothers, John (Chris) Markey of Virginia and Philip (Gloriann) Markey of New Jersey; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends called at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill on Monday. Funeral service was held Tuesday from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Route 81, Greenville. Interment followed at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill.

Debra M. McCann
Debra M. McCann, 47, of Westerlo, New York, passed away at the St. Peter’s Hospice Inn on October 15, 2008. She was born in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on June 10, 1961, daughter of William and Donna (Walsh) Leggett.
Debbie was self-employed operating Debbie’s Cleaning Service and McDee’s T’s. An avid outdoors person, she was a member of the Northwind Riders Snowmobile Club and served as treasurer. She also loved to draw and gardening. A loving wife and mother, she will be missed by her family and many friends.
Surviving besides her parents is her husband, Donald McCann; two sons, David and Dillan McCann; a sister, Cindy Rogers (Allen); two nieces, Daniella and Sierra; and three nephews, Travis, Ryan and Justin.
Funeral service was Sunday.

Ronald F. Gosse
Ronald F. Gosse, 65 of New Baltimore, passed away Monday, October 13, 2008 at te Hospice Inn St. Peter’s Hospital. Ron was a 1962 graduate of Bethlehem Central High School. Ron had worked for Conrail and owned several construction businesses throughout the years.
Ron was a member of the R.C. Sportsman’s Club, enjoyed car racing, motorcycles and boating.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Hillicoss Gosse of New Baltimore; son, Ronald F. Gosse, Jr. of Rensselaer; grandsons, Adam and Zachary Gosse; sister, Joan Bess of Coxsackie; and brother Albert Gosse of Selkirk. Ron was predeceased by his parents Frank and Helen Gosse.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 18 at St. Patrick’s Church, Ravena. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
Funeral services were conducted under the direction of the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.

Margaret “Margie” Cole
Margaret “Margie” Cole has temporarily terminated her affair of 64 years with L. Russell Cole 0 to be resumed at another time in another place. She was born February 27, 1923 to the late Donald and Helen (Jordan) Lockwood in Gloversville, New York. Margie and Russell were married October 21, 1944 and lived in Cairo for their entire marriage.
She leaves at home her husband Russell; three daughters, Meredith Lake (Tom) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Linda Larsen (Robert) of Cairo, New York, and Laurie Jennings (David), also of Cairo, New York; her grandchildren, Jamie Lake, Robert R. Larsen, Michelle VanPelt (Chad), Amanda, Tracey and Russell Jennings; her great-grandchildren, Monica and Alisha Bodine and Cole VanPelt.
Margie was tax collector for the Town of Durham for over 25 years,. She was also a life member of the East Durham Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a past member of the Greene County Ladies Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 380, and the Catskill Valley Grange.
Margie at 85 years old passed away peacefully in her home on October 25, 2008. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4pm. on Saturday, November 1 followed by a service at 4pm at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, New York, conducted by the Rev. Victor Nelson of the Cairo Resurrection Lutheran Church.

Mitchell A.J. Mucinsky
Mitchell A.J. Mucinsky, 93, of Freehold, New York, formerly of Bethel, Connecticut, passed away on October 26, 2008 at Kaaterskill Care in Catskill, New York. He was born in Yonkers, New York on June 20, 1915, son of the late Edward and Sophie (Iskra) Mucinsky.
Mitchell joined the US Marine Corps in 1941 a week after Pearl Harbor and was discharged a Tec. Sgt. In 1945. After his discharge from the service he worked all his life as a journeyman electrician, being a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union No. 488 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He had attended the Sounders Trade School.
He and his wife of 65 years, Mary (McCarthy) Mucinsky, enjoyed many hobbies and crafting. The crafting work was donated to hospitals and senior citizen centers. She predeceased him in 2006. He was also predeceased by a son, Mitchell Mucinsky.
Surviving is a son, Edward Mucinsky; a granddaughter, Lisa Maxwell (Michael); and grandson, Steven Shelley.
