LORIS ALIX 

Loris Alix, 81, of Climax, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on October 26, 2009 after a short illness.  She was born in Rochester, New York on April 1, 1923, daughter of the late Cecil and Helen (Jacobs) Allen.

Very influential in her community, Loris had been very involved with the Medway-Grapeville Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary since 1954 and a member and Board Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Medway-Grapeville Fire Dept.

She also wrote “Grapeville Gleanings” for the local newspapers.  She was known to be an excellent seamstress and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Her husband, Andrew Alix, and a brother, Walter Allen predeceased her.

Surviving are a son, Andrew Alix (Ruth); two daughters, Cheryl Tobin (Gary Walkley) and Cindy Foley (Dave); seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to which relatives and friends were invited was held at the Grapeville cemetery (Route 26) on Thursday, October 29.  Following the service there was a time of fellowship and refreshments (to which all were invited) held at the Medway-Grapeville Fire House.  Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Medway-Grapeville Fire dept.; Sean Conway, Chief, c/o Medway-Grapeville Fire Dept.; Route 51, Hannacroix, NY 12087.

RANDOLPH R. MAC DONALD

Randolph “Randy” MacDonald, 64, of Coxsackie, entered eternal life after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.

Randy was a Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam era.  He was employed for 30 years with Price Chopper in many locations retiring in 2009 from Saugerties.  He was a Life Member of the Coxsackie Yacht Club.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary MacDonald of Coxsackie; son, Randolph R. MacDonald, Jr. of Selkirk; brother, Kenneth MacDonald; sisters, Barbara Adams, Heather (Kenneth) Meisner, Pamela (Donald) Gerfin and Heidi (Robert) Bergesch; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  Randy was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Barbara MacDonald and his daughter Tina Camacho.

A memorial service was held Saturday, November 14, at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.  Contributions in memory of Randy may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

LINDA ETHEL MEEUSEN 

Linda Ethel Meeusen, 57, of Hotaling Ln., Stuyvesant Falls, NY, passed away at her home.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, April 12, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Anna (Bergstrom) Meeusen.

Linda was a 2004 graduate of Pace University in New York where she received her Master Degree in Education.  She was a teacher at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility a member and Docent of the Kinderhook Historical Society, a certified genealogist and an avid gardener.  She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Willow Berg Cox (Edward) of Greenville, NY, 3 grand-daughters, Chenoa Nikolina, Chloe Eliza and Gabrielle Alana, two sisters, Sage Bergstrom and Norma Meeusen, both of Arizona and a niece, Christina Cofod of Connecticut.

A memorial service was held Tuesday in the Kinderhook Reformed Church, Route 9, Kinderhook with the service conducted by Rev. Rudy Visser.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements were made by the Raymond E. LAURIE ANNE FULLER 

HUDSON – Laurie Anne Fuller, age 42 of Hudson died peacefully Monday afternoon November 16, 2009 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.  Born in Catskill she is the daughter of Norman and Charlotte B. (nee Berry) Fuller of West Athens.  Laurie was married to Andrew Garcia who survives.

Laurie graduated from Coxsackie – Athens Central School in 1985 and later graduated from the University of Alabama earning a Masters Degree in Social Science.  She was employed by the State of Alabama as a social worker.  She returned to this area in 1993 and volunteered at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents and husband she is survived by her brothers Donald Fuller of Catskill, Kenneth Fuller of Catskill, Mark Fuller of Summerville, SC, Phillip Fuller of Catskill and sisters Nancy and her husband Michael Hopper of Dalton, MA and Carol and her husband Jeff of Pittsfield, MA.  She is the niece of Francis “Ray” and his wife Margaret Fuller of Hagerstown, MD; Melvin and his wife Barbara Fuller of Wilmington, NC, Alfred and his wife Judy Fuller of Livermore, ME and Joyce Richards of Livermore, ME.  She is also survived by 3 nephews and 4 nieces.

Laurie is a member of the High Hill United Methodist Church and the University of Alabama Circle K Club.

 Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to call at the High Hill United Methodist Church 1467 Schoharie Turnpike, West Athens on Thursday November 19 from 1 p.m.- 2 p.m. A service to commemorate Laurie’s life followed.

Interment was at the Colleburgh Cemetery.

The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the Staff of the 4th floor Hospice Unit at Columbia Memorial Hospital for their care and comfort during Laurie’s final illness.

Memorial donations in Laurie’s name may be made to the High Hill Methodist church c/o  Norman Fuller, Treasurer 740 Green Lake Road, Catskill or Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Sopris-Murray Funeral Home Greenville, NY.
