GOLDIE S. DE LA VERGNE
Goldie Stevens De La
Vergne of Greenville, New York, passed away July 1, 2006. She was the wife of
the late Theodore De La Vergne; mother of Geraldine Smith of Albany and Yvonne
Mabey of Hyde Park, New York. She is also survived by grandchildren, Margaret
Johannesen, Holly Williams, Joana McNaughton, Erin Hawks, Michael Mabey and Sean
Mabey; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Goldie
was an avid reader, enjoyed needlework, gardening, and was a past member of the
American Legion Post in Greenville.
Service
was private. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Homemedical
Associates P.C., 1737 Union Street, Schenectady, NY
12309.
Arrangements
were by Meyers Funeral Home in Delmar.

WILLIAM H. HALLOCK
William H. Hallock,
78 years, of Preston Hollow, New York, passed away suddenly on July 1, 2006. He
was born in Medusa, New York on October 17, 1927, son of the late Lester and
Lillian (Rivenburg) Hallock. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict
and received the Korean Service Medal w/5 Campaign Stars, ROK Presidential Unit
Citation and the UN Service Medal. A laborer and heavy equipment operator, he
last worked at Henderson’s in Freehold, New York. He loved to garden and was a
life member of the DAV.
He was predeceased by
hi wife, Barbara (Teator) Hallock; a brother, Orson Hallock; and two sisters,
Dorothy Cooke and Edna Goodfellow.
Surviving are a son,
William Hallock (Jennifer) of East Nassau, New York; four daughters, Linda Blank
(Jay) of Freehold, New York, Sheila Finn of Catskill, New York, Debbie Hallock
of Margaretville, New York, and Gail Travers of Rensselaer, New York; 14
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was
Thursday, July 6, at the Preston Hollow Baptist Church, Preston Hollow, New
York. Interment was in the Brookside Cemetery. Those who desire may contribute
in his memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Arrangements were by
Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York.

THOMAS A. MURPHY
Thomas A. Murphy, 63
years, of Greenville, New York, passed away on July 10, 2006 at the St.
Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany, New York. He was born in Jamaica, Queens, New
York on November 8, 1942, son of the late Andrew and Elsie (Sappeisa) Murphy.
Thomas was in sales with R.D.L., a lighting and fixtures business in Latham, New
York. He was a loving and devoted family man.
Surviving are his
wife, Colleen (Kelly) Murphy of Greenville, New York; three daughters, Valerie
Rhodes-Saati and her husband, Noam, Heather Murphy and Caroline Pocorobba; a
son, Michael Murphy, and two grandchildren, Ryan and Catherine Pocorobba.
Services are at the
convenience of the family and under the direction of the Cunningham Funeral
Home, 4894 SR 81, Greenville, New York 12083.

Kalien Ernst, 26
years, of Westerlo, New York; daughter of Thomas J. Ernst of Westerlo, New York
and Katherine (Mally) Paling of Middletown, New York; also survived by her
grandmother, Flora Ernst of Westerlo, New York; three sisters, Kerrin and Pegeen
Daly, Katia Paling; two brothers, Liam and Morgan Paling; also two nieces, Zoe
Price and Rowan Daly.

JUSTIN M. SILVIA
Justin M. Silvia, 27
years, of Westerlo, New York died as a result of injuries received in a
motorcycle accident on Route 308 in the Town of New Scotland on July 7, 2006. He
was born in Albany, New York on January 1, 1979, son of Joseph and Joan (Scott)
Silvia, Jr.
Justin was a graduate
of Greenville Central School and had served in the US Air Force. He was
presently employed by Old Castle in Bethlehem, New York. He was a member of
Local 190 Laborers Union. Justin loved to fish and loved being a big brother to
all his nieces and nephews. He was a lover of life.
Surviving are his
parents, Joseph and Joan Silvia, Jr.; six brothers, Joseph Silvia, III (Sherri),
John Silvia (Donna), James Silvia (Darcy), Jason Silvia (Adrienne), Jesse Silvia
(Kari-Ann) and Jeffrey Silvia; nephew of John and Eileen Silvia; Michael and
Kathy Palmer, Rose and Ken Flach, Dehlia Banker and Joan Rivers; beloved uncle
of Jessica, Kendra, Alona, Lexi, Tommy, Peyton, Joseph IV, Sonya, John, Anthony
and Victoria.
Funeral service will
be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81,
Greenville, New York with a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. at St. John the
Baptist Church. Friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery. Those who desire may contribute in
his memory to the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center.

ALBERT F. COLLINS,
SR.
Albert (Jiggy-Jigger)
Collins, Sr., 74, of Ravena, entered eternal life peacefully at the home where
he was born on Saturday, July 8, 2006 with his loving family by his side. He was
an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
Jiggy had worked on
the family dairy farm. Jigger was an owner/operator truck driver for Callanan
Industries for 35 years and also had a residential fuel oil business, Collins
Brothers, with his brother, Harold (Bucky). In 1986, Bucky retired and it became
Collins and Son.
Albert was a member
of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where he and his wife of 45 years were
married, a longtime member of the Ravena Grange and a member, past chief,
president and commissioner of the Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Co.
Survivors include his
wife, Pearl Schoonmaker Collins; children, Catherine Collins-Pierce and Albert
F. (Lori) Collins, Jr.; grandchildren, Zachary S. and Jarrett A. Collins and
Cathleen and Andrew Pierce; brother, William (Jean) Collins; and many nieces,
nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews and many friends. Albert was
predeceased by his brother, Harold Collins; nephew, Gavin Collins; and dear
friend, Donald VanDerzee.
Funeral services were
held Wednesday, July 12 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Coeymans Hollow,
with Rev. Steven Peiffer officiating. Burial was in Alcove Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, contributions in memory of Albert may be made to the Trinity United
Methodist Church, 1311 Route 143, Coeymans Hollow, NY
12046. Funeral services were conducted under the direction of the Babcock
Funeral Home, Ravena.

RAYMOND R. HUNT
Raymond Roy Hunt, 91,
of Selkirk, died Monday, July 3, 2006, at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home.
Raymond was born in Cooksburg, New York to the late LeRoy and Elizabeth Haskins
Hunt on September 2, 1914. He attended Greenville High School and lived in Oak
Hill for several years. In 1940, he married Emma Peck and they resided in
Coeymans Hollow for several years.
Raymond was a truck
driver most of his life except for a few years that he spent working at GE in
Schenectady during WWII. He later went back to driving trucks and retired in
1973 from Main Bros. Oil Co. after suffering a severe case of frostbite. Ray
enjoyed working outside in his garden and was very proud of his lawn, keeping it
watered well in dry weather. He raised his own plants and, at one time, raised
pansies for sale. That proved to be a backbreaking chore so he gave it up.
Ray is survived by
his wife of 66 years, Emma; daughters, Janet Chiorgno of Pittsfield,
Massachusetts and Christine B. Hunt of Albany; son, Les R. (Wendy) Hunt of
Selkirk; four grandchildren, Michele (Dan) Foster of Watervliet, Stephan Hunt of
Freehold, Krysta (Ben) Domery-Rogers of Glenmont and Tiffany Hunt of Saratoga.
He is also survived by five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by his beloved son, Eugene R. Hunt; grandson, David J. Hunt;
brother, Leland Hunt; and sisters Marjorie Baitsholts and Evelyn Hunt.
Funeral services were
held Friday, July 7, at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena, with Rev. Steven
Peiffer officiating.
Burial was in
Chestnut Lawn Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Raymond may be made to the
Trinity United Methodist Church, 1311 Route 143, Coeymans Hollow, NY
12046.

ROGER W. LOUNSBURY,
SR.
Roger W. Lounsbury,
Sr., 56 years, of Guilderland, New York, passed away suddenly on July 2, 2006 at
St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. He was born in Albany, New York on
March 1, 1950, son of the late Theodore and Lena (Fisher) Lounsbury.
Roger was employed by
Donna Pool Service in Albany, New York. He loved playing cards and visiting
casinos. He also enjoyed bonfires and family picnics.
Roger was predeceased
by two sisters, Janet Berkhoffer and Marjorie White; and five brothers, Theodore
Lounsbury, Clyde Lounsbury, Thomas Lounsbury, Harold Lounsbury and C. Lloyd
Lounsbury.
Surviving are his
wife, Donna (Svingala) Lounsbury of Guilderland, New York; two sons, Clyde
Lounsbury (Caroline Morris) and Roger Wesley Lounsbury (Jennifer); a daughter,
Wendy Jean Lounsbury (Tommie Kettles); a granddaughter, Keira Morris; four
sisters, Harriet Peck, Janice Lounsbury, Betty Jean Mueller and Sandra Ross; and
five brothers, John Lounsbury, Patrick Lounsbury, Dennis Lounsbury, Terrance
Lounsbury and William Lounsbury.
Funeral service was
Sunday, July 16 at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, New
York. Friends called at the funeral home prior to the service. As to Roger’s
wishes, he was cremated.

WALTER J. RASKOPF,
JR.
Walter J. Raskopf,
Jr., 77, of Greenville, New York, born February 8, 1929, died July 10, 2006.
Walter was the only
child of Walter J. Raskopf, Sr. and Marie V. Peckham. He was raised in Queen’s
Village, New York and attended de LaSalle High School. He met his wife
Marguerite Re while attending Long Island Agricultural & Technical Institute
at Farmingdale, New York. Together they raised six children.
Walter was proud of
the years he spent as a Babylon town policeman on Long Island. He was happiest,
however, when husbanding sheep and pigs and working with his dairy cows. He took
great joy in teaching his children about living on and loving the land. Walter
loved music and could often be heard playing his drums or whistling out in the
fields.
He served many times
as an officer in the Knights of Columbus, including as Grand Knight. He rose to
the rank of captain in the New York Guard. He was a member of the Warwick, New
York Volunteer Fire Department. In his middle years, Walter was very active in
politics and ran for a number of offices to include the United States Congress.
Walter retired as a supervisor of the Farmers Home Administration, a division of
the United States Department of Agriculture in 1987.
In his retirement,
Walter worked many years at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville helping to
keep the physical plant running and was involved in many of the church’s
volunteer activities. Walter and his wife traveled at every opportunity. He
loved to experience new places and interesting people.
He was predeceased by
his granddaughter, Catherine. He was loved and will be remembered by his wife,
Marge Raskopf; their children, Fred Raskopf (Kristine), Elizabeth Hall
(Charles), both of Greenville, New York, Mary Ellen Mangiamele of Middletown,
New York, Margaret Dodd (Stephen) of Aurora, Illinois, Barbara Shapiro (David)
of Shokan, New York, and Kathy Hadley of Seneca Falls, New York; his
grandchildren, Michael (Monica), Margaret, Christopher, Thomas, Jennifer, Mary,
Jeffrey, Bryan, Evan, Matthew, Patricia, Katherine, James, Joshua, Brendon,
David, Laura and Eric; and two very special aunts, Eileen and Dots.
Funeral services were
at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, New York on Friday, July 14, at 10
a.m.
In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, American Parkinson
Disease Foundation or the Greene County Public Health Nursing Service (New York
State Department of Health), 411 Main St., Catskill, NY.

DONNA LEE ADAMS
NEW BALTIMORE---Donna
Lee Adams, age 46, of New Baltimore, NY died peacefully after a long courageous
battle with cancer on Monday afternoon, July 17, surrounded by her loving
family. She was born in Albany, NY on December 24, 1959, the daughter of the
late Thomas and Jane Delaney Osterhout.
Donna was a C.N.A.
and had worked in nursing homes in Albany County for 17 years.
Her family remembers
her with the following: “Mom, you will be missed so much. You have touched so
many hearts by the caring and kind things you have done. You managed to raise
two kids on your own (although we were not always the easiest to deal with). You
finally found the love of your life, Gene Van Slyke. Your song together, “The
Time of Your Life” from Dirty Dancing will always bring back memories. Mom, I
asked you “how would” I know you were there? You answered by saying, “Feed
the birds and when you find bird droppings on your car, you will know I was
there.”
You said you would be
our Guardian Angel, but Mom, you already were. We love you and you will be
missed so much, but you are in a better place and not suffering. Love Amy, Joe
and Gene.
Donna loved
gardening, and “stalking” her birds. She was a member of Gilda’s Club.
In addition to her
Life Companion, Gene, and her children, Amy Lee Adams of New Baltimore and
Joseph Adams III of Selkirk, and Gene’s children, Amanda Osterhout of Ravena,
April Van Slyke of Providence, RI, Paul Van Slyke of New Baltimore, she is
survived by her siblings: Gordon and Joseph Hayes of Troy; Gary Osterhout of Rensselaer;
Gloria and John Lent of Selkirk; Gilda and Joe Rapazzo of Glenmont; Grace
Salisbury of Delmar; Lucy Marcinka of Washington, DC; Ronald Osterhout of
Rennselaer; Charles Osterhout of Warrensburg; Geraldine Bennett of Clifton Park;
many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Dennis
Hayes.
She had many friends
and was especially dear to: Beth Courtney, Donna Davis, Valerie Wheeler,
Catherine Chapman, Irene Cisserelli, and Brian O’Shaunessy.
A service to
celebrate Donna’s life will be held Saturday, August 12 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in
the New Baltimore Reformed Church. Pastor Susan Kerr will officiate.
Donna’s wishes were
for memorial donations to be made to Gilda’s Club, Latham, NY.
Funeral arrangements
have been entrusted to the care of the Sopris-Murray Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson
Hgts., Catskill, NY.

SYLVIA C. McMULLEN
Sylvia C. McMullen,
62, of New Baltimore, died July 22, 2006 at home with her family. Born in Macon,
Georgia, she was the daughter of Mary Wager and the late George Wager.
Survivors include her
son, Richard (Sandy) McMullen of Earlton granddaughter, Brittney McMullen;
brother, Lamont (Martha) Wager of Jamestown, New York sisters, Sheila (William)
Haight of Ravena, Mary (Joe) Bowers of Latham and Carolyn Sue (James) Slater of
New Baltimore beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral
service was held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Sylvia’s
name may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty St.,
Catskill, NY 12414.
Funeral services were
conducted under the direction of the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.

FRANCES EMILY
SWART
Frances Emily Swart,
96 years, of Dormansville, New York, passed away on July 16, 2006 at the Good
Samaritan Lutheran Home in Delmar, New York. She was born on March 16, 1910,
daughter of the late Channing and Ethel (Stanton) Swart and lived her entire
life in Dormansville.
Frances attended the
one room schoolhouse in Dormansville through the eighth grade, then attended
Ravena High School, graduating in 1927. She attended New Paltz Normal School,
graduating in 1930. She began teaching in the one room schoolhouse in
Dormansville (grades 1-6), where she herself had attended, and which had become
part of the Greenville Central School District. IN 1944, she left to teach
middle grades in South Bethlehem, a part of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School
District. She taught in Feura Bush fourth and fifth grades until the Becker
building was finished and taught the same grades until retiring in 1965.
Following her
retirement, Frances was a substitute teacher for an additional 10 years. She was
a lifelong member of the Dormansville U.M. Church and a member of the United
Methodist Women; holding many offices in both. She was active in many phases of
the church program including Sunday School and Youth Group. For several years,
she was church organist. She was a member of the Hiawatha Grange for 78 years
and held several offices in the Grange. Frances wrote the Dormansville column
for the Greenville Local for many years.
She is survived by
her sister, Beatrice Stewart; a niece, Valerie Overcash and her husband, Wayne;
grandnieces, Elizabeth Overcash and Victoria Montelongo and a grandnephew,
Jonathan Rueda.
Funeral service was
Friday, July 21, at the Dormansville U.M. Church in Dormansville, New York.
Interment was in the Greenville Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction
of the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.
Frances wished that,
in her memory and in lieu of flowers, friends would remember the Dormansville
U.M. Church, support it and attend it.

HAROLD E. TUMEY
Harold E. Tumey, 87
years, of Greenville, New York, passed away at the St. Peter’s Nursing &
Rehab. Center in Albany, New York on July 20, 2006. He was born in Elmhurst, New
York on April 17, 1919, son of the late Robert and Emily V. (Quillan) Tumey. He
served in the US Army during World War II.
Moving from Wantagh,
New York in 1972, Harold was very active in the Greenville community. During his
high school years, he was president of his senior class and active on the track
and soccer teams. While on Long Island, he was active in scouting as an
excellent fund raiser and a former member of the American Legion. An active
member of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, New York, he was a longtime
member of the choir and a member of the building committee.
He had great pleasure
in singing with the Catskill Glee Club for many years. He also served on the
Greenville Planning Board for 15 years. A former member of the Greenville Irish
American Club, he was a Grand Marshall for one of the St. Patrick’s Day
parades. He was well known for his antique business in the Greenville area for
over 30 years. A lover of nature and birds, he was a good friend to all he met
and knew.
Surviving are his
wife of 64 years, Ann (McKevitt) Tumey; two sons, Kevin Tumey of Bear, Delaware,
Colin Tumey and his wife, Nancy, of Greenville, New York; three daughters,
Maureen Nicolais of Lakewood, Colorado, Eileen Jackson and her husband, Rick, of
Annapolis, Maryland, Lauren Thomas and her husband, Vinny, of Greenville, New
York; also 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a
son, Brian Tumey, and his three brothers, Lawrence, Robert and George Tumey.
Funeral service was
Monday from the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian
Burial from St. John the Baptist Church. Friends called at the funeral home on
Sunday. Interment was in the Greenville Cemetery. The family requests that
donations in Harold’s memory be sent to St. Peter’s Nursing Home and Rehab.

The family would like
to thank Sister Joan and the staff at St. Peter’s NH and Rehab. Center for
their kind and compassionate care given to Harold while he was a patient there.
