DONALD R. JACK
CAIRO---Donald R. Jack, 94, of Cairo, died
Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home in Troy. Born
May 25, 1911 in Ossining, Westchester County, he was the son of the late Hugh
and Lillian Cronk Jack.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Jack,
Jr., of Arkansas and Patrick Jack of Floral Park, Long Island; two daughters,
Lorraine Scarpinati or Cairo and Ellen Pulice of Athens; a sister Lillian Malkus
of Cairo; 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4
p.m. Wednesday at the Richards Funeral Home, 383 Bross St., Cairo, with the Rev.
J. Nunan Pastor of the Sacred Heart Church of Cairo, officiating.
Private cremation will take place at the
Albany Rural Crematory in Menands.

GRACE E. SCHNEIDER
Grace E. Schneider, 100, of Purling, died
December 29, 2005, at her residence after a long illness.
Born July 17, 1905 in New York City, she was
the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Brennan) Meade.
Mrs. Schneider owned and operated The Schall
Co. in Cairo, and also The Purling Roller Rink, which has been owned and
operated by the family for 75 years. She was family oriented and was devoted to
her grandchildren.
She had been an area resident for 30 years.
She was a communicant of The Sacred Heart Church in Cairo.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Sally
Schneider of Purling; seven grandchildren, William J. Schneider III of Purling,
Sally and her husband Michael Sharkey of Purling, Dr. James Schneider M.D. of
Albany, Patricia Schneider of Purling, Kathleen Schneider of Cairo, Dr. Robert
Schneider M.D. of Tannersville, and Dr and Mrs. Stacey (Susan) Russell of
Purling; and four great-grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Madeline and Grace
Sharkey, all of Purling.
She was predeceased by her husband, William
J. Schneider, Sr., on April 1, 1996; and a son, William J. Schneider, Jr. five
years ago.
Calling hours were Sunday at the Richards
Funeral Home, Bross St., Cairo.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated
Monday at the Sacred Heart Church, Cairo, with the Rev. Jeremiah Nunan, pastor,
officiating.
Interment followed in the family plot next
to her husband in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.

ELAINE E. SWARTOUT
Elaine E. Swartout, 76, of Elm Ridge Road,
Evans Mills, died Thursday, December 29, 2005, at her home under the care of her
family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born June 18, 1929 in Albany, she was the
daughter of Clifford and Margaret Lockwood Matthews.
She graduated from Greenville High School
and married Douglas R. Swartout on June 29, 1947 in Greenville.
The couple lived in Clayton and in 1968
moved to their present home.
Mrs. Swartout worked at a speaker plant in
Durham, prior to her marriage and once in the North Country, she started a band
called “Elaine and the Moonlighters” which was popular for many years. She
also was a district dealer for Tupperware for many years.
She was a founding member of Evans Mills
Ambulance Squad, member of American Legion Auxiliary and African Violet Club of
Watertown.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas; a
son, Ronald Swartout of Carthage, Jefferson County; two daughters, Deborah
Kennedy of Savannah, Wayne County and Judy Spitzer of Charlotte, North Carolina;
a sister, Marilyn Zimmer of East Durham; four grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Calling hours were Saturday at the Johnson
Funeral Home, 237 William Street, Dexter.
A funeral service followed at the funeral
home with the Rev. Penni Farrington, pastor of Evans Mills United Methodist
Church, officiating.
Burial was in Evans Mills Cemetery.

JEREMIAH A. O’LEARY
GREENWOOD LAKE---Jeremiah A. O’Leary, 66
years, of Greenwood Lake, New York, passed away suddenly at his home on January
8, 2006. He was born in Millstreet, County Cork, Ireland on December 8, 1939,
son of the late Jeremiah and Ellen (Buckley) O’Leary. Jeremiah was an
Automotive Mechanic employed by Manhattan Ford in New York City. He was a member
of the UAW in Manhattan. He was a loving husband and father.
Surviving are his wife, Ann O’Leary of
Greenwood Lake, New York; his daughter, Ellen O’Leary of Middletown, New York;
two sisters, Kitty O’Leary of Ireland and Noreen O’Connor of Greenville, New
York; three brothers, Donnie O’Leary, William O’Leary and his wife Mary,
James O’Leary and his wife Kathlene all of Ireland; sixteen nieces and nephews
and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday
from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville with a Mass of
Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, New
York. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from
7 to 9 p.m.
Interment will be in the Greenville
Cemetery.

DOROTHY RIVENBURG
Dorothy Rivenburg, 80 years, of
Rensselaerville, New York, passed away on January 5, 2006, at the Good Samaritan
Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar, New York. She was born in Westerlo, New
York on April 16, 1925, daughter of the late Winford and Blanche (Weinberger)
Rivenburg.
Dorothy was a homemaker and lifelong
resident of the Westerlo and Rensselaerville communities. Dorothy was “Miss
Westerlo” of 1943. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was predeceased by
her beloved husband, Francis (Bud) Rivenburg in 1986; a brother, Earl Rivenburg;
and a sister, Mildred Frederick.
Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis
Fitzgerald of Westerlo, New York; her brother, Glenn Rivenburg of Selkirk, New
York; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Saturday at the
Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York. There were no calling hours.
Interment will be in the Rensselaerville Cemetery in the spring at the
convenience of the family.

JUNITA ROSE BRITTON
Junita Rose (Boughton) Britton, 80 years, of Delmar, New York,
passed away at the Hospice Inn of St. Peter’s in Albany, New York on January
7, 2006.
She was born at home in Rensselaerville, New York on June 12,
1925, daughter of the late Manley and Mable (Cole) Boughton. Junita was a member
of Trinity Episcopal Church in Rensselaerville and a member of the Trinity
Women’s Guild. She had also served as a member of the Ladies Home Bureau and
the Rensselaerville Historical Society. She will be remembered as a loving wife,
mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She was predeceased by her husband,
Sanford Britton; a son, Randall Britton; and her brother, Harley Boughton.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Britton and his wife, Susan, of
Rensselaerville, New York, Gerald Britton and his wife, Kathryn of Latham, New
York; a daughter, Eleanor Velasquez and her husband, Arnulfo of Modesto,
California; a daughter-in-law, Paula Britton of Westerlo, New York; her
grandchildren, Randall Britton, Jr.,
Todd Britton, Tamatha Keppler, Samantha Britton, Lisa Chrysler, Donald Britton,
Jr., Jeffrey Britton, Gregory Britton, Regina Velasquez, Christopher Velasquez,
Nanetta Velasquez, and Arnulfo Velasquez, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; and a
sister, Doris Palmer of Dormansville, New York.
At her request, she will be cremated and a memorial service
held at a later date. Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Town
of Rensselaerville Ambulance Squad.

JOAN A. (HANSON) RIBLEY
ALCOVE---Joan A. (Hanson) Ribley, 74, of Alcove, died
peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2006 in the comfort of her home.
Born in Albany, she has resided in Alcove for 30 years. Joan
was employed in the offices of the former Bond Bread Company for many years.
Recently, she was a homemaker.
Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harry E. Ribley;
her children, Mark J. Ribley of Ravena, Julia K. Ribley of Schenectady, Stephen
J. Ribley of Ravena and Melissa Apjohn of Delmar; five grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. She is the sister of Helen Mendleson of Albany; Sally
Nesbit of Boulder, Colorado; James Hanson of Mission, Texas, Richard Hanson of
Andersonville, Georgia, and the late Joseph Hanson, Mary Limmer and Fred Hanson;
also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours were held at Caswell Funeral Home in Ravena on
Monday, January 9. Funeral and burial services were private.

PATRICIA D. VAN NATTEN
CLARKSVILLE---Patricia D. Van Natten, 70, on January 6, 2006
at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late William C. Van Natten,
Sr. Mrs. Van Natten loved reading, crossword puzzles, genealogy and country
music. She was also a member of the Dormansville Methodist Church.
Mrs. Van Nattenis the mother of Barbara Pielo and her husband
Marty of West Sand Lake; James D. Daine and his wife Jackie of Salmond, Indiana;
Melanie Pate and her husband Ben of Middletown, New Jersey; and John Van Natten
and his wife Lisa of Plattsburgh, New York; stepmother of Laurie Cutting and her
husband Richard of Elizabethtown, New York. She is the grandmother of Charles
Pielo, Scott Thompson, Emily Rose Daine, Jesse Pate, Joshua, Cameron and Andrew
Van Natten and Krista Cutting. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and
her best friends, Tom and Beverly Gallup.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 10 at 11:30 a.m.
in the Dormansville Methodist Church, Dormansville. Spring interment will be in
the Onesquethaw Cemetery, Clarksville. Contributions may be made in Patricia’s

FRANK E. BOEHLKE, SR.
Frank E. Boehlke, Sr., age 93, of Hannacroix, passed away
peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 10, 2006. Born on
September 12, 1912 in Grey, Maine, Frank was the son of the late Paul and Alice
Boehlke.
He spent most of his life in the Selkirk and Hannacroix area
and was a self-employed mason contractor with Anthony Scott of Boehlke and Scott
for 28 years. He was a communicate of St. Patrick’s Church of Ravena all his
life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mabel (Clark)
Boehlke; four sons, Frank, Jr. (Judy), Darrell, Sr. (Nancy), Thomas (Doreen),
and William, Sr., (Georgia); 21 grandchildren, Frank (Tammy) Boehlke, Lisa (Tim)
Travis, Shelley (Lance) Benjamin, John Boehlke, Jim Boehlke, Darrell (Laurie)
Boehlke, Jennifer (Dennis) Pollicino, Kimberly (Garrett) Wilcox, Thomas Beohlke,
Patrick Boehlke, Bill Boehlke, Jr., Jared (Heather) Beohlke, David Boehlke,
Chris Boehlke,
Nathan Boehlke, Joshua Boehlke, Paul Boehlke, Caleb Boehlke,
Benjamin Boehlke; 12 great-grandchildren, Samantha and Justin, Ryan and Alysa
Travis, Brandon and Chelsea Benjamin, Erika and Drew Boehlke, Dennis, Jacob and
Emma Pollicino and Olivia Wilcox; two brothers, Jerry (Eleanor) Boehlke and
Martin Boehlke. Frank was predeceased by his daughter Mabel, grandson Timothy
Joel, brothers, Orville, Chet, Art, Paul, Louie, George, Pat and Lon and sisters
Rita and Vina.
Funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s Church in Ravena
on Monday, January 16 with Rev. Francis DuBois officiating.
Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Coeymans. In lieu
of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Patrick’s Church, 21
Main Street, Ravena, New York 12143.
Funeral arrangements were conducted under the direction of the
Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.

LIONEL J. “FRENCHY” ALIX
Lionel J. “Frenchy” Alix, 82 years of Surprise, New York,
passed away at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Delmar, New York on
January 23, 2006. He was born in Montreal, Canada on February 6, 1923, son of
the late Joseph and Lumina (Berard) Alix. After serving in Europe during World
War II, Frenchy was honorably discharged from the US Army Air Corps in April of
1946.
He worked at the Watervliet Arsenal until 1977. After working
as a machinist and metallurgist, he retired as manager of the Officers Club. He
also drove a school bus for the Greenville School District and he delivered fuel
oil for C.A. Albright & Sons for 10 years.
Frenchy was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in
Greenville, New York and loved being a greeter and usher at the church. He loved
sports and served as an umpire for the Greene County Softball League. He was a
member of the American Legion Post No. 0166 in Coxsackie. He enjoyed golfing,
fishing, hunting, camping, making maple syrup, homemade wine, beer and sausage.
He was also a member of the Lamplighters & Ridgerunners Social Club. He
loved gathering with friends and family.
He was constantly surprised with the antics of his youngest
granddaughter, Samantha, and great-granddaughter, Myah, both four; he loved
teasing them.
Because he couldn’t remember names, most girls and women
were called “Snoops” and most men he called George.
Surviving are his wife, Doris (Yannone) Alix; his children,
Jeannene Albright (Eugene) of
Hannacroix, New York, Paul Alix (Julia) of Summerville, South Carolina, Debra
Perino (Joseph) of Catskill, New York, David Alix (Jessica) of Earlton, New
York; his nine grandchildren, Susan Stafford (David), Jeffrey Albright, John
Paul Alix (Michelle), Thomas Alix (Allison), Sara Mae Smith, Brandon Perino (Karoliane),
Lori Rausch (Max) and Brian Perino and Samantha Alix; eight great-grandchildren,
Heather Albright, T.J. Moore, Meghan, Chelsea and Jonathan Alix, Ryan and
Madison Alix, and Myah Perino; a brother,
Norman Alix (Georgianna) of Grapeville, New York; a sister, Laurette Snyder
(Richard) of Texas and several nieces and nephews; also three sisters-in-law,
Evie, Loris and Marie Alix and a former daughter-in-law, Patti Young. He was
predeceased by three brothers, Andrew, Guy and Jerry Alix and a sister Jeannene
Alix.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. from the
Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York with a Christian Burial 11 a.m. at
St. John the Baptist Church. Friends called at the funeral home Wednesday, 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery. Those who desire
