HAZEL DELORES MORBY

Hazel Delores Morby (65) of Freehold, NY passed away at her home on Jan. 29, 2009 after a long courageous battle with cancer.  Hazel was born in the Bronx on March 7, 1943 daughter of the late Frederick & Emma C. (Boitano)Bahr.  A graduate of G.C.S., she was employed by the New York State Thruway Authority in Albany in the Home Maintenance Dept.  She was known for having a perpetual garage sale and enjoyed her visits to the Sacandaga Lake.  She was also a member of the Freehold C.C. Church.  She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed by her family and many friends.

Surviving is her husband of 46 years Stanley Morby, a son Stanley T. Morby of Freehold, NY, a sister Barbara Windelspecht (Allen) of Saugerties, NY, two brothers, Edward Bahr (Sandra) of Westover, AL, Fred Bahr (Mary) of Kingston, NY, a brother-in-law William Hendricks & several nieces & nephews.  She was predeceased by an infant brother Arthur Bahr, a sister Alice Hendricks and step-sister Thelma Link.

Funeral service was Sat. Jan. 31 at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY.  Spring interment will be in the Freehold Cemetery.

IRMA L. PARKES

Irma L. Parkes, 72, of Tuscany Meadows, East Durham, New York, passed away on February 1, 2009 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York.  She was born in Middleburg, New York, on June 15, 1936, daughter of the later Homer and Althea (Willman) Slater.

Irma was employed at American Thermostat in South Cairo, New York; when they closed she worked at Emsig in Hudson, New York.  She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oak Hill, New York; a member of the Altar Guild and also a member of the Durham Valley American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to go deep sea fishing and was well known for her pie baking and her embroidery.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many.

Surviving are her husband, Arthur Parkes; a son, Allen Parkes of Catskill, New York; a daughter, Deborah Knapp (John) of Cairo, New York; her grandchildren, Brittany and Rachel Knapp, Brandon and Kara Parkes; her great-grandchildren, Emily and Natalie Parkes; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Karl and Warren Slater; and two sisters, Helen McCoy and Louise Purcell.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Route 81 in Oak Hill, New York. Interment will be in the Middleburg Cemetery in the spring.  Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Organ Fund or to the American Cancer Society.

PETER E. DONOHUE

Peter E. Donohue, 54, of Greenville, New York, passed away at the Albany Medical Center on January 30, 2009 after a short illness.  He was born in Albany, New York on June 21, 1954, son of the late Peter J. and Mary A. (Tropepe) Donohue.

Peter had worked at Orange Motors for 26 years at a lot person and was presently operating his own landscaping business in the Greenville area.  He was a graduate of GCS and a fan of NASCAR.  He was well known for his love for his faithful dog Honey, his Ford Mustang and his Ford truck.  He was a friend to all he met and also known for being a caregiver for his mom.  He will be remembered as a compassionate friend and brother and will be missed by his sisters and many friends.

Surviving are his two sisters, Margaret “Marge” Donohue of Albany, New York, and Annette Rao (Phil) of Tamarac, Florida.

Friends called at the Cunningham Funeral Home 4898 SR81, Greenville, New York on Wednesday, February4, from 4 to 8 p.m.  Graveside service and interment will be in the spring at the Greenville Cemetery.

JOSEPH M. GLENNON

Joseph M. (Mickey) Glennon, 57 of Climax, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 after a long illness.  Mickey was an employee at the former G. E. Plastics in Selkirk for many years.  He was a member of the Medway-Grapeville Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife June; daughters, Cheryl Cathey and Lisa Glennon; sister Charlene Ison; and brother Daniel Glennon.  Mickey was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Charlotte Glennon.

A memorial service and celebration of Mickey’s life will be held at a date to be announced.  Contributions in memory of Mickey may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

MARY M. LUCANIA

Mary M. Lucania, 97, of Preston Hollow, New York, formerly of Lindenhurst, New York, passed away on January 31, 2009.  Mary was born in Italy on May 17, 1911.  A lifelong homemaker, she was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, John Lucania in 1970.  A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by her family and friends.

Surviving is a daughter, Nancy Porretto (Joseph) of Preston Hollow, New York; a son, Dr. John Lucania (Jean) of Windham, New York; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam Lucania of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by a sister and four brothers.

Friends called at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, New York, on Tuesday, February 3.  Interment was on Wednesday, February 4 in St. Charles’ Cemetery, Pinelawn, New York.

CLIFFORD FISHER, III

Mr. Clifford Fisher, III, 60, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.  He is the husband of Vicki Giles Fisher of the residence and the son of Clifford J. Fisher, Jr. and Elizabeth K. Gibbs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jude and Nicholas Fisher; and a brother, Timothy K. Fisher of Westerlo, New York; Clifford J. Fisher of Westerlo, New York, and Elizabeth Kelly Gibbs of Inman, South Carolina.

He is predeceased by a stepfather, Robert S. Gibbs and a sister, Cheryl Porter.

Corky graduated from Greenville Central School in Greenville, New York.  He was a photographer for the Navy on the Lexington during the Vietnam War.

Funeral services were on February 1 at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jack E. Hames.  Burial will be private.

ROBERT ARNOLD SMITH

Mr. Robert Arnold Smith Sr., 66 of Cedar Bluff, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 in Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

Mr. Smith was a native of Oak Hill, New York, the son of the late Harold Wesley and Catherine Ann Koenig Smith.  He was a life member of VFW, the American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, and the Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Faye Masters Smith; sons Robert Arnold  Smith Jr. of Oak Hill, New York and Ronald Smith of China, daughter Wendy Ann (Subbas) Rai of Glenmont, New York, stepdaughters, Marcia Ann (Robert) Smith of Ft Myers, Florida, and Tina Marie Olive of Cape Coral, Florida, brother Ed (Evelyn) Smith of Camp Springs, Alabama, sister Lynn Mousseau of San Diego, California, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The Perry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

FELIX J. PERKOWSKI

Felix J. Perkowski (92) of Greenville, NY passed away Feb. 19, 2009 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush, NY.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, Felix was the only child of the late Joseph & Salomea Perkowski, and was brought up his late stepmother Mary Perkowski.  He was raised in Westerlo; before moving his family in 1952 to Greenville and became a business owner for 50 plus years, and also retired as a custodian and truant officer with the Greenville Central School.  Felix was a charter and life member as well as Sgt. of Arms of the Greenville Vol. Fire Co., also a member of the Greene County Vol. Fireman’s Association and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. He was well loved and liked by all; over the years his path crossed with many.  It seemed that he could fix or repair just about any thing; many have stated what a good and honest person he was.  He was the husband of 66 years to Manuella Patricia Perkowski who died in January of 2008.

Survivors include a son, William of Athens, NY, a daughter Judith VanAmburgh (Wayne) of Castleton, NY, cherished grandfather of Dawn Varraro, William Perkowski, Jr., Brooke Mabb, Mary Perkowski, Megan VanAmburgh and Ran VanAmburgh, five great grandchildren & one great-great grandchild.

Funeral service will be Thursday, 11AM, February 26, at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 4 to 7 P.M.  The Greenville Vol. Fire Co. will hold services Wed., 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.  Internment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.  Those who desire may contribute in his memory to the Greenville Vol. Fire Co., or Greenville Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Aux. or to the Greenville Rescue Squad.

GLORIA M. SILVA

Mrs. Gloria Maria Silva, faithfully devoted servant of our Lord Jesus Christ was called into His loving hands on February 16, 10:38 p.m. in the year of our Lord, 2009.

Gloria was a loving wife and mother of two who gave of herself generously without reservation or judgment to all who crossed her path in this life.  Gloria loved nature and surrounded herself and her loved ones with plants and flowers of every description.  A highly skilled seamstress, knitter and embroiderer, examples of Gloria’s work remain treasured heirlooms for many among her family and friends.  In her later years, Gloria also worked as a home health aide for the elderly.

Gloria was born March 27 in the year of our Lord, 1937, on the Island Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to her parents Engracio Gonzales and Luisa Marin Gonzales with whom she has been reunited.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 47 years, Luis Silva; her son Fred and her daughter Arlene; her siblings, Jose, Graciano, Luisa, Carmen and Norma; many cherished nieces and nephews; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Gloria’s great unwavering faith and unconditional love will remain an enduring source of inspiration for all of us

Her effortless grace and warm tender embraces shall be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by all.  She was and shall remain a testament to the fact that there is great strength in humility.

We shall all of us meet at the Garden my Dearest Love….

Funeral service was at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, New York, Friday, February 20, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Greenville.  Friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday and Thursday.  Internment will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
