Mildred
E. Reinhardt, 85 years, of Greenville, New York, passed away at her home on May
29, 2006. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 21, 1911, daughter of
William and Alice Anderson, Sr.
She
was a member and Past Matron on Maranatha Valley Chapter O.E.S. and the
Greenville-Norton Hill U.M. Church. She was well known for her paintings and
loved her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick G.
Reinhardt; her son, Frederick W. Reinhardt; a sister, Gertrude Smith; and her
brother, William Anderson, Jr.
Surviving
are a daughter, Barbara Reinhardt of Greenville, New York; a nephew, Robert
Smith of Niskayuna, New York; and a grandniece, Lorie Smith of San Francisco,
California.
Funeral
service will be Friday, 11 a.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New
York; Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. O.E.S.
services will be Thursday evening. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Greenville Rescue Squad or
the Greenville Vol. Fire Co.

S. JENNINGS

Walton
S. Jennings, 88 years, of Greenville, New York, passed away Friday, May 26, 2006
in the Stratton V.A. Medical Center in Albany, New York. He was born January 27,
1918 in Rensselaerville, New York, son of the late Aaron and Jean (Farquar)
Jennings. He served during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1941 to
1945 in the Pacific Theater.
Walt
was a self-employed carpenter, well known in the Greenville area. He was a past
commander and life member of the Greenville American Legion Post No. 291 and
past commander and life member of the Tri-Town Memorial VFW Post No. 7229. He
loved to hunt and fish. Walt loved his family dearly. He was predeceased by two
sisters, Dorothea Mahoney and Wilhelmina Yeomans; a brother, John Jennings; and
a sister-in-law, Ann Jennings.
Surviving
are his wife of 31 years, Evelyn Shea Jennings of Greenville, New York; two
daughters, Jean Ingoglia and Christine Haller and her husband, William, all of
Greenville, New York; two stepdaughters, Mary Ellen Barkman and her husband,
Randy, of Medusa and Kathleen Ann Shea of Greenville, New York; two brothers,
Webster Jennings and his wife, Marie, and Russell Jennings; a sister-in-law,
Roberta Jennings of Leeds, New York; 12 and ¾ grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
As
to his wishes, Walt was cremated and a memorial service to celebrate his life
will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 12 p.m. at the Greenville American Legion
Post No. 291, Maple Avenue, Greenville, New York, to which all are invited.
Those
who wish may contribute in Walt’s memory to the Greenville American Legion
Post No. 291, Driveway Fund, Maple Avenue, Greenville, NY, 12083 or the
Greenville Rescue Squad, PO Box 332, Greenville, NY 12083.

JOHN E. ALBIN, SR.
June 1, 2006
John E. Albin, Sr., 77 years, of
Freehold, New York, passed away at the Barnwell Nursing & Rehabilitation
Center in Valatie, New York on May 28, 2006. He was born in New York City on
June 14, 1928, son of the late George and Ella Mae (Cassidy) Albin.
He was a retired carpet installer
having last worked for Broadway Carpet in Schenectady, New York. He served his
country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict being discharged as a
corporal. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and a former member of the
Freehold Vol. Fire Co.
He will be remembered as an avid
reader and enjoying his large family and friends. He was predeceased by his
wife, the former Joan (Bigley) Albin; a son, Robert Albin; a daughter, Karen
Yacobucci; two sisters, Gertrude VonBerg and Helen Loughran; and four brothers,
Arthur, George, Fred and William Albin.
Surviving are his children, John
Albin, Jr. (Elizabeth), Michele Weidman (Victor); Jayme Albin (Ann), Ellen
Stevens (Orin), Michael Albin (Susan) and Raymond Albin (Stephanie); 14
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Albin; two sisters,
Agnes Cafferelli, Midge Komerak; and several nieces and nephews; also a special
“son”, Joe Savino, Jr. and a special friend, Frank Potter and his family.
As per his request, cremation will
be at the Albany Rural Cemetery. Services will be at the convenience of the
family. Interment will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery. Those who desire
may contribute in his memory to the Greenville Rescue Squad or to the American
Red Cross.

ANDREW P. BUTTERWORTH
June 1, 2006
Andrew P. Butterworth, 51 years, of
Durham, New York, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, May 24, 2006.
He was born July
26, 1954 in Hudson, New York, son of Virginia (Hempstead) Butterworth and the
late Andrew Butterworth. He was a shipping clerk, previously employed by U.S.
Paper Counters.
Andy loved playing guitar, Jimmy
Buffet and John Denver. He loved country music and played in a band with Claude
Hattan and Gary Green. Andy enjoyed landscaping. He loved his family and friends
and all his animals, especially his llama, “Paco”. Andy was predeceased by
his daughter, Tiffany Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Tamara (VanDyke)
Butterworth of Durham, New York; two daughters, Tami Ann Lacy and her husband,
James, of Catskill, New York, and Gloria Johnson of Cairo, New York; and two
sons, Derek A. Butterworth of Durham, New York and Jason Johnson and his wife,
Amy, of Round Top, new York; five grandchildren, Lucia Rivenburg, Dylan and
Justyn Lacy, Gabriella Miller and Ryan Johnson; two sisters, Cynthia Hyde of
Cairo, New York and Kathleen Liller of Potic Mountain, New York; an uncle, Floyd
Hempstead; a nephew, Elwood Castle; a good friend, Gary Miller; and several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service was Tuesday, May 30
at 8 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, PO Box 146, Greenville, New
York. Friends called prior to the service from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment was in the
Oak Hill Cemetery on Wednesday at 11 a.m. those who wish may contribute in

Tristan James Russell, infant son of
Tadhg and Corbette (Kearney) Russell of East Durham, New York, passed away June
2, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York.
Surviving are his parents; two
brothers, Peyton and Ryan Russell He was the grandson of Timothy Russell of
Greenville, New York, Margaret Reidin of Palenville, New York, Claude and
Katherine Kearney of East Durham, New York; great-grandson of Shela Evans,
Palenville, New York, Doris Ormsbee of Catskill, New York and Irene Kearney of
Catskill, New York. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment
in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Ashland, New York.

STEPHEN EDWARD LADEN
June 8, 2006
Stephen Edward Laden, 99 years, of
Lithia, Georgia, formerly of East Durham, New York, passed away on May 13, 2006.
He was born in New Jersey on November 14, 1906.
Stephen was a millwright with Local
Union 740 for many years and was predeceased by his wife, Alice (Leute) Laden.
They spent many winters in Naples, Florida, but the place he always called home
was East Durham, New York.
Surviving are a son, Robert Laden
and his wife, Elizabeth, of Westbrookville, New York; a daughter, Nancy Stallard
of Lithia Springs, Georgia; three grandchildren, Toni Stirtz and her husband,
Timothy, Shane Laden and his wife, Frances, and Andrew Stallard; also four
great-grandchildren, Casie and Codie Laden and Jonathan and Joshua Stirtz. He
also leaves behind many other loving relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held on
Friday, June 30, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Route 81, Oak Hill, New York. Rev
Reay Mahler officiated. Donations in Stephen’s memory may be sent to St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 66, Oak Hill, NY

LOUIS W. “BUD” YOUNG
June 15, 2006
Louis “Bud” Young passed away
May 7, 2006. He was born in New York City on April 14, 1923, son of the late
Louis and Florence (Sjogren) Young.
Bud will always be remembered for
his humor, honesty, hard work and friendliness. He was a talented woodcarver and
silversmith. He loved to fish in Lake Powell, Rocky Point and San Carlos, where
he caught a sailfish. He was active in Southern Arizona Homebuilder’s Assn.,
Sertoma International and International Union of Operating Engineers.
Bud served in the US Navy during
World War II as Motor Machinist Mate, First Class, on Destroyer Escort U.S.S.
LCI (G) 467, in the Pacific, and participated in the recapture of Guam (1944).
He was honorably discharged in November 1945 with several commendations.
After the war, he was a civilian
crane operator for the US Army in Schenectady, New York. In 1952, he started an
excavation and equipment rental business in Greenville, New York, building dams
and dredging lakes, including Lake Loree at Sunny Hill Resort.
In 1956, he moved to Tucson and
established Young & Deyo Excavating, which had a major impact on Tucson’s
skyline. He demolished the Tucsonan Hotel and uncovered many artifacts of early
Tucson history. He also demolished El Conquistador Hotel, site of the current
mall and hotel, and dug missile silos on Mt. Lemon. He pursued other
entrepreneurial interests in developing new construction technologies. In 1981,
he created Young & Sons Contracting with sons Bryant and Michael Young,
which remains a major excavating and contracting firm in Tucson.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years,
Ann (Stall) Young; his children, Deborah Hanson, Bryant, Michael and Cody Young;
stepsons Bill and Philip Blackerby; five grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren; sister, Frances “SiSi” Winnie; a nephew, Kim Winnie;
and brother-in-law, Alexander “Zan” Bryant. He was predeceased by his first
wife, Thelma (Bryant) Young; sons Roger and Timothy Young; one grandchild; his
brother-in-law, Harry Winnie; and nephew, Gary Winnie.
Memorial graveside service with
military honors will be held Saturday, June 24, 11 a.m. at the Greenville
Cemetery.
KAETHE PFLANZ
June 15, 2006
Kaethe Pflanz, 77 years, of
Freehold, New York, passed away at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New
York on June 5, 2006. She was born in Germany on March 21, 1929, daughter of the
late Karl and Marie (Herrman) Pflanz. She had been employed for years at the
Pleasant View Lodge in Freehold, New York.
Surviving are a brother, Kurt Pflanz;
and a niece, Elvira Casader in Germany; two nephews, Ralph Schmollinger of
Warwick, New York and Robert Schmollinger of Estero, Florida. She was
predeceased by a sister, Ria (Pflanz) Schmollinger.
Funeral service will be 7:15 p.m.

WERNER K. STIEFEL
June 15, 2006
Werner K. Stiefel, 85, died June 8,
2006 at VNA Hospice House near his home in Vero Beach, Florida.
Born on March 10, 1921 in Brooklyn,
New York, he grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and Preston Hollow, Albany County,
New York, and later resided for many years in Oak Hill, Greene County, New York.
After his graduation from Yale
University in 1942 with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering, he founded the
Stiefel Medicinal Soap Company, which later became Stiefel Laboratories, Inc. He
remained president and CEO until his retirement in 2001. Under his leadership,
Stiefel Laboratories became, and remains, the largest privately owned
dermatological (skin product) company in the world, with over 2,500 employees
and offices in over 100 countries worldwide.
Mr. Stiefel was a scientist and
inventor who was granted nine United States patents. He was a retired member of
the board of directors of Norstar Bank in Albany, New York, the Pioneer
Insurance Company of Greenville, New York, and president of the board of
education of the Durham Central School, where he was instrumental in bringing
about its merger with Cairo Central School to create the Cairo-Durham School
District in Greene County, New York.
He was a member of the Rotary Club
of Greenville and a longtime Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 101, East Durham. He
was a licensed ham radio operator under call letters W2HSK. Mr. Stiefel was an
honorary life member of the North American Clinical Dermatological Society and
also belonged to the prestigious Annenberg Circle of the Dermatology Foundation,
which annually hosts the Werner K. Stiefel lectureship delivered by a
world-known dermatologist.
Mr. Stiefel is survived by his wife,
Marie (Caruso) Stiefel
and six children, John (Joyce) of Wethersfield, Connecticut, Edward
(Deborah) of Naples, Florida, Charles (Daneen) of South Miami, Florida, Joan
Stiefel Rodriguez (Ignacio) of Rockville, Maryland, Stephanie Stiefel Williams
(Luke) of Guilford, Connecticut, and Lili Stiefel of Washington, DC. He is also
survived by 12 grandchildren, John David Stiefel, Kristen Stiefel Levithan
(Josh), William Stiefel, Lisa Stiefel, Jeffrey Stiefel, Todd Stiefel (Diana),
Brent Stiefel (Courtney), Melanie Rodriguez, Andrew Rodriguez, Marilyn
Rodriguez, Valerie Williams, and Richard Williams; and three
great-grandchildren, Cole, Amber and Sienna Stiefel. He was predeceased by a
son, Richard, and his first wife, Catherine (Pierson) Stiefel.
Interment will be in the Oak Hill
Cemetery, Oak Hill, New York, with a private service following. The date of a
public memorial service will be announced.

celebrate the life of Werner K. Stiefel who died June 8, 2006, will be held 2
p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Greenville Christian Life Center in Greenville,
New York. The Christian Life Center is located one mile north of the Greenville
traffic light on State Route 32. All attendees are invited to a reception
immediately following the service at the Carriage House at the Freehold Country

JUSTIN NOVAK
June 29, 2006
Justin Novak, 16 years, died
suddenly at his home in East Durham, New York on June 24, 2006. He was born in
Athens, New York on November 14, 1989, son Ronald and Linda (Cook) Novak. Justin
attended the Grapeville Christian School. An avid outdoors person, he loved
snowboarding, hunting, fishing, biking, soccer and paint-balling. He was known
as an excellent storyteller and was a good poet. He was a former member of the
4H Club and enjoyed showing at the Greene County Youth Fair.
Surviving are his parents, Ronald
and Linda Novak; two grandmothers, Valerie Novak of Agawam, Massachussetts,
Frances Partridge of East Durham, New York; a sister, Karen Ford and her
husband, Charles II of Saratoga Springs, New York; three brothers, James Novak
of Catskill, New York, Jonathan Novak and Jesse Novak of East Durham, New York;
and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfathers,
Edward Novak and Oliver Cook; and his step-grandfather, Alfred Partridge.
Funeral service will be Thursday, 11
a.m. at the Greenville Christian Life Center, Route 32, Greenville, New York.

COXSACKIE---Barbara J. Barrett, age
46 years, of 5 Appleblossom Lane West, Coxsackie, NY, died June 20, 2006 at St.
Peter’s Hospital, Albany, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Albany, N.Y., Jan.
4, 1960, and was the daughter of Robert W. and Ann S. (Shumaker) Dagner of West
Coxsackie.
Funeral services were held on
Thursday, June 22, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. at The Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home,
97 Mansion St., Coxsackie, N.Y., with the Rev. Paul Peters, Pastor of The First
Reformed Church of West Coxsackie, officiating.
Private cremation took place on
Friday, June 23, 2006, at The Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands.
Barbara is a lifetime resident of
Coxsackie, she loved to shop, loved to work with her husband at Barrett’s Auto
Sales Unlimited, Route 9W, West Coxsackie, which she was Vice President of this
firm. She also loved traveling, jet skiing, and motorcycle riding. She was very
devoted to her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband,
Edward L. Barrett and her son, Chad M. Barrett of West Coxsackie, and also
Chad’s fiancée, Melissa Pena of Athens. Also survived by her sister, Mrs.
Thomas (Debra) Rooney of Glenmont. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Judy
Pinheiro of N.J., and her father-in-law, Robert C. Barrett, Jr. of Cobelskill,
and also survived by a niece, April M. Rooney of Glenmont.
Relatives and friends were cordially
invited to attend calling hours at The W.C. Brady’s Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 97
Mansion St., Coxsackie, on Thursday, from 3-8:00 p.m.

POEM FOR BARBARA BARRETT
June 20, 2006
A friend of mine, was brought to
despair,
By a doctor she knew, who truly did care.
Amaloid A was called….a
disease to her heart,
A strickened and sickened…to fail…from the start.
So courageous was Barbara…determined to fight,
So Eddie and Chad…well they…aligned for her plight.
Preparing to travel…Sloan Kettering they would go,
In hopes for a cure…only the doctors would know.
Determined to give it all that they could,
Our community responded…as only they would!
With love and compassion, encouragement and fare,
Eddie and Barbara would know how we care!
Nothing could keep this community down,
To help our Dear Barbara proceed to..abound!
But…God…in His mercy…Looking down from above,
Could not see Barbara struggle so much.
Each breath she had taken was harder to breathe.
Each day that was given, could only conceive.
“Fear and confusion on what was ahead”,
Leaving her family was her only dread.
For Chad…she had wanted…a wedding day to give,
For Eddie…to love him…as long as they lived.
Her mom and her dad, her sister and niece,
Just a gift of her years, of her life to complete.
But for now, it was God, who controlled her tomorrow,
Truly, not wanting us all just to sorrow.
From high on His thone, His love to enthrall
He beckoned His Barbara, to come be His bride.
And promised Eddie I will stay by your side,
I’ll lead you and guide you as only I can.
Strengthening Chad, who’s become such a man!
And for you…my Dear Son, You’re never alone.
Deep within your heart, I abide to belong.
The day you asked me into your heart,
Was the day I began to abide and impart.
All you will need to continue therein,
And to show your Dear Sweetheart,
This isn’t the end.
A future and hope, in the
“present” you’ll see,
A glimmer of Barbara in Chad there will be.
Imparted amongst all the hurt and despair,
Is your God named “Jesus”,
A Savior who cared.
For I come to save those who seek and are blind,
I’m “The God” in “Barb’s” presence “A gift so divine”!
So when all is so quiet,
And alone you’ve become,
The bed will be empty,

Remember that Barbara is waiting for you,

The beauty I see, will be her for us both.
But for now, cherish our memories and, my son, I love most!
